DH and I are finally going on our honeymoon! It's a last minute trip, so it's been tough to get ADRs for romantic places.

We got one for Narcoossee's at GF at 9:05pm. Its EXTREMELY expensive, especially because we're staying at the Swan, so no Dining Plan.

I'm starting to have reservations about spending that much money on one dinner just to be able to see Wishes.... am I nuts? I mean, we could go to the Poly's beach to cuddle and watch Wishes for free......

Will I regret it if we don't do it? Is there another, cheaper, romantic alternative? Should we just throw all caution to the wayside because its our honeymoon?

Have you seen that the Swan/Dolphin restaurants are on restaurant.com? You can get $25 gift cards for $10. But restaurant.com usually has discount coupons too. I got the gift cards for $2.

I got Shulas, Il Mulino, Kimonos. They also have Garden Grove and I think Blue Zoo.

Maybe you can use one of those for a cheaper meal and then go and get Dole Whips at the Poly counter service place for dessert and eat them on the beach and watch the fireworks.

Although, we do have Narcoose booked for our August trip. You can avoid appetizers and desserts and alcohol and it might not be too expensive.

First a word of warning--if you have dinner at Narcoossee's when the fireworks are on, even if you have one of the coveted windowside tables, you will have to go outside and stand on the porch to make sure that you can actually see the fireworks. The reason for this is that your fellow diners who have less desirable dinner seats, and a number of people from elsewhere who seem to show up just before the fireworks (?), all crowd onto the porch--blocking the view from the windowside tables. The cost of a pricey meal doesn't secure you a good view of the fireworks from your table, in other words. If you are OK with this, and you like seafood, then by all means go.
A similar thing occurs at the Cali Grill for the fireworks viewing there--unless you are fortunate enough to be seated at windowside seats with a perfect view of the fireworks. Everyone else at the Cali Grill hustles outside on the walkway to see the fireworks.
If you wish to save some money, you can view the fireworks from the beach at the Poly. You could always make it to the Poly beach the evening before your ressies at Narcoossee's, and judge for yourself if you want to keep your ressies at Narcoossee's for the following night!

We had one really wonderful meal at Narcoossees, back in 2005. Then last year, we had a pretty bad meal there. It's an expensive place to have an off night at, so we won't be going back again.

The best place to see Wishes is in the Park. If you have Hoppers & have used that day, have dinner whereever you want & go to MK to watch Wishes from inside.

If you don't want to go into MK or don't want to use a pass, you can see Wishes from the 4th floor Observation Deck at the Contemporary, the Boat Dock at the Grand Floridian or the beach at the Poly. You could eat at any nmber of restaurants & see Wishes from those locations. Like you could have dinner at Citricos (far superior to Narcoossees) then wander down to the dock to see the show. Or you could have dinner at The Wave & go up to the observation Deck. DH & I really like both places. Citricos is more quiet & romantic than Narcoosses. The Wave Bar is lots of fun for a couple of adults to have a drink & a nosh at befor watching the fireworks.

Like another poster said, even if you eat at Narccoossees or CG, you will most likely wind up going to the deck to see the show anyways. From Narcoossees, you definately will, from CG most likely will. You might as well eat where you want & then go see the show. I would not pick the restaraunt based on the view.

We went to Narcoosees for free dining last year Sept
It was the worst meal of our whole trip. I have such
bad memories of this dining exp. that we never plan
to go back again. I would not want to spend that much
money to be so disappointed. I know you can find a
better rest. for less $$

We did california Grill on the dining plan and ended up watching from the deck. The tables in CG where you can see wishes are pretty crowded, so we ended up in the wine room in the back, we had tons of room and it was pretty quiet. I liked the food there, but we were on the dining plan. We didnt eat at Narcosee's we ended up skipping because we were exhausted and it was the night before the Disney Marathon - so probably a good decision.

Citricos however, we did along with a lot of other restaurants. If you want an upscale kind of romantic dinner, Citricos was top notch. Recommend Veal Shank. Get the Veal Shank. Seriously I made the mistake and didnt get it (got swordfish - it was good swordfish don't get me wrong) but get the Veal Shank. Easily my wife's favorite meal.

Back in February, we had an INCREDIBLE dining experience at Narcoosee's. Fabulous food, fabulous service, and a beautiful view of the fireworks. We DID NOT have "extra" looky loos and it felt a lot more intimate than California Grill did.

Yes, even with Tables in Wonderland discount our meal was over $200, but worth EVERY penny.

I made a reservation there last year......just for the purpose that we would be able to sit by the window and enjoy wishes during dinner. Let me tell you from first hand experience this is a nicer thought and dream and NOT a reality. The restraunt in surrounded by a walkway that goes ALL along the restraunts windows. When it is time for wishes that walkway loads up with people and your lovely window view of the lake and castle now become a window view to a lot of BUTTTTTSSSSSSS. You can still enjoy the music of wishes and some of the fireworks but your once clear window view is now a bit messed up.
We had a better view of wishes at Ohana in the POLY resort or at California grill at the comtemp. Both places play wishes music. Ohana is more of a family restraunt and California Grill is more along the same price range you are looking at. I would suggest California Grill.:lovestruc

Narcoosees doesn't come close to comparing to bluezoo at the Dolphin. If you are splurging OOP, I strongly recommend bluezoo over any of Disney's signature restaurants.

You can stand on the dock of Narcoosees for free and watch the fireworks if that's your intent. I would never dine there just to watch the show; the windows are blocked half the time by people standing on the docks anyway.

Just thought I would throw another suggestion out there....the WISHES Dessert Party :)
