Narcoosee's or California Grill? Pls. post your opinon!!

My mom LOVED Narcoosee's (particularly the fireworks) the last time we went to WDW--but we want to try new places, too. What's your experience of California Grill? How to they rate against each other? Should we give California Grill a try this time, or stick with Narcoosee's?

We had dinner at both places in August and December 2009. We had better food and service both times at California Grill.

In fact, our December visit to Narcoossee's was not very good at all, and the service was mediocre. We were very disappointed.

We'll be back in WDW in July/August this year, and we already have reservations for California Grill. We are skipping Narcoossee's.

California Grill. Better food and service and you can see the fireworks from there just as well.

We have never eaten at Narcoossee's so I can't comment on that, however, our favorite restaurant on property is Cali Grill. The view of MK, and watching Wishes out on their balcony is pure magic. Also, the food is amazing and the service is top notch. We always try to make it to Cali Grill each trip (minus our upcoming one) and we like to either eat there on arrival night or on our last full night in Disney.

ITA! Have been to both, but choose CG over Narcoosee's any day. I like the atmosphere of Narcoosee's over CG (except for the wine room which is the bomb).

We liked both. We thought the food was better at Narcoosees. We had a bad server there but the server at CG was just okay. I would try something new and you can still see the fireworks from their too.

I prefer Cali Grill, although the service and more adult setting is better at Narcoussies(sp).
Fireworks are a better view at Cali Grill,
it just depends on what food your family likes. I like Cali for the sushi and rolls, I like Narc for the shellfish dishes.

We've eaten at both the last 2 times we've been and I'd choose CG for sure! To me, the food selection was better, the attention to detail with the choices and the appearance was superior, and I think we got a better meal out of it.

The kids' choices were definitely better at the cali grill. For example, both kids asked for the fruit "cup" for their appetizer at both places. OMG! The one from Narcoossees was the standard one that we had at other, non-signature restaurants. The CG one was a salad plate with an artfully arranged selection of huge blackberries, raspberries sliced melons, sliced granny smith apples in a fan shape, orange wedges that had the rind sliced into a pattern, and I think there was something else. It was beautiful! Desserts were the same-old, same-old at Narcoossees while they were inventive and cute (rice krispee "sushi" complete with "wasabi, "pickled ginger," and chop sticks in a plastic holder that my newly-6-year-old
was able to use!). We will probably still go back to both on our next trip, but I prerferred CG for sure!

California Grill. Much better service, food etc. You can walk outside to view the fireworks also. Along with Jiko it is our favorite place to dine at WDW.

The surf & turf is surprisingly goodand the service is top notch imo.

they both are great restaurants and personally, i'd give the nod to CAGrill if only for the view...however, the food @ CA Grill (other than the tenderloin) is just a bit too 'gourmet' for DH & DS.

You know, we love CG and have been the last 4 trips. We thought we would try Narcoossee's this upcoming trip but now I am unsure.
I would try CG especially since you have been to Narcoossee's already.

we could see most of them from our window table (that we had to request when we checked in); except when a tall person would walk in front of our table on the outdoor dock area attached to restuarant.It was no big deal, we've seen lots of fireworks.

here's a pic on the dock facing the CR (not the best sorry) gives u an idea of how far away u are, fireworks were to the extreme left of where we sat

jmho, if it's all about the view; i'd select CG and use the outdoor viewing platform.

I could be wrong about this (or perhaps the perspective of looking up to view from N vs looking straight ahead from CG throws off actual depth perception/perspective_but the FW seem much closer when viewed from CG.
