So, on our possible waterpark day, I have a reservation for Narcoosees at 5:30 and I'm wondering a couple things.

First, I love Narcoosees, its one of our favorites, but I also love Artist Point and I know that it most likely won't be the same again after the character meal overhaul so what are your thoughts, should I make sure to get one last meal in here and give up Narcoosees?

Also, what are people's opinions about the Paddlefish?

Thanks for your input and if you've been to AP recently, would love to know if the service is still the same and that it is not declining being that they are winding down.

If you like AP, I would try and get an ADR there for one last visit. If that doesn't happen, then keeping Narcoosees is a good option.

I would definitely stick with Narcoosees. We just had an amazing dinner there a few weeks ago. Artist Point has always been hit or miss for us and definitely lacks the atmosphere of the other. Paddlefish doesn't get very good reviews.

That was my husband's opinion. He felt that a couple times it was our best meal of the trip and other times it was just so so. I can't recall a single time where we were disappointed with Narcoosees and we just LOVE the GF.

I was very underwhelmed by the service and food at Paddlefish (and costly as sin). Artist Point has incredible food but your rolling the dice on service. Narcoossee's is one of favorite places. If you want to take a chance on service you might want to try AP one last time as it is. In my case when I told the girls it was going to be a Snow White character meal the immediately added it to the must do list.

We ate OOP at both Narcoosees and Paddlefish last month. Narcoosees food was much better than Paddlefish. While our waitress at Paddlefish was great, she could not make up for the food, which was meh. We had steak and lobster at Narcooses...which was soooo good..and some kind of Fish of the Day at Paddlefish...which was not delicious and lacked in flavor. We never ate at Artist Point.

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong

First - when are you going? AP is DEAD, after Nov 10, 2018. The staff gets this... guess how motivated they are now :(. AP is already DEAD. I would simply suggest that you avoid it.

Narcoossee's remains a solid SIG. As does Citrico's, and California Grill :).

Paddlefish is a shadow of the once stunning Fulton's. Dead. As are MOST DS "fake SIGS", that are not representative of their parent chains. Think "Weenie Moramito", "Weenie STK", etc. GREAT Buildings - no food.

Now.... no idea where you are staying.... but some GREAT options?

1) Dolphin - Shula's (BEST Steak and/or Lobster on property). You CAN get there by WDW Bus :).
2) Swan - Il Mulinno ( BEST Italian Food on property). You CAN get there by WDW Bus :).

Dear wife and I LOVED Artist Point. DVC, HOMED at the WL, we went there for a good 12 years. We will not be going back, and eagerly await the introduction of a REAL SIGNATURE RESTAURANT at the WL (they no longer have one).

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong

Trust me, I would never criticize you for your opinion and I greatly value your input!

We're going the week of October 12th and your comments are exactly my concern, that it just wouldn't be up to snuff which is why I am really interested in some recent experiences. The one thing is...will I regret not going once more? I really loved the atmosphere there. My kids love it, my Mom loves it, my husband loves it when it's great. We had a funny experience once years ago when the kids were even smaller (my kids are usually AMAZING in restaurants) but you know how they give the kids the little mickey painting desserts? Well, when we all had our heads turned one of them painted on the walls and AP will forever be remembered as the place where our kids painted the walls. It was minor and actually wiped off, but initially my mother was completely aghast and it was pretty funny after the fact.

We LOVED Fulton's and I never got my husband over there before it closed so that was one of the reasons why I was considering Paddlefish. Also, I saw somewhere that it got voted best seafood restaurant in Orlando for 2018, however, I can't imagine how that could win over The Boat House which we also love.

We're staying at AK this trip (not an Epcot resort as I typically do around food and wine) so we're eating a little differently than if we were over by Shula's and Il Mulino and trying to take advantage of the fact that we have to drive anyway and really enjoy Jiko. I actually had Jiko scheduled twice because we never go there unless we're staying at AKL and we loved it many years ago. Other restaurants we have lined up for this trip are Tiffins, Jiko, Narcoosee's, possibly a Hoop Dee Doo (it's been awhile since doing it so we wanted to go again), Brown Derby, The Boat House, possibly Monsieur Paul and AP. Another one of my favorites is Cali Grill but we may skip that as we've done it on our last two trips and while everyone loves sushi, we all really love the lobster at Narcoosees.

Service, I enjoy, but if you throw good food at me I don't care, I'll still eat it, as long as it's good. We're on the Deluxe dining plan and so our options are limitless as far as what we order.

Thank you, that's great input. Did you happen to have the shrimp and grits? Is that still on the menu, we used to LOOOOVE that dish, it was changed it bit the last time we went there but I wouldn't hesitate to try it again on a return visit and I'm not even a fan of grits.

I've heard pretty terrible things about Paddlefish so I wouldn't switch there. I'd switch to AP if I were you, never know what's gonna happen once it switches to a character meal!

Yup - and the far SADDER issue? Just about ever DS Restaurant is a half-baked version of their GREAT Parent Restaurants :(.

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.

DS held promise for a GREAT Restaurant venue. It did not happen :(. "Morimoto" - not like Morimoto
in major city's. "STK" - a shadow of the NYC location. "Edison" - watered down, from Tallahassee, FL .
"Padlefish" - Great work on the boat. Watered down "Fulton's" excellent FOOD.

We had SO much hope, for great food, at DS. It did not happen. NONE of these "Restaurants" is more than tourist bait :(. And Dear Wife and I were hoping for so much more :(. GREAT buildings - no food. :(.

Just us - we don't bother with these things. Sticking with the Greats: Cal Grill, Citrico's, Shula's, Il Mulino, Bull & Bear, Narcoosee's, and (as time goes on), MORE "off site" REAL RESTAURANTS.

Again, All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.

Interesting that you say that. We were also disappointed with Morimoto although I'm considering giving it another go. We do really like The Boat House, but I too was hoping DS would be the new amazing Signature restaurant venue we were hoping for. Even the kids look forward to eating in Disney but they eat everything!

I would love for some people to post more opinions of current meals at AP because I'm hoping it doesn't go downhill and I can get one more nice meal in there but we'll see. I'll keep that ressie for another week or two and then figure out what I'm going to do. I'm also taking advantage of Jiko because we're staying at AKL and we never get to enjoy Jiko otherwise. I hope Jiko lives up to my memory and that it hasn't been watered down as far as exciting dishes and flavors. It was very creative and authentic when I went back in 2012!
