Was thinking of trying Napa Rose, and I can get a reservations for the "chef's table" or somehting like that that only has two seatings per night. Does anyone know what that is, and have you done it?

We have not done it before but made PS for it. There are only a select amount of seats that face the area where the chefs cook. From what I hear, it is a great view of the action of the kitchen and the chef's really engage you with what they are doing by talking to you and such. As DH and I love watching shows like Iron Chef, we are very much looking forward to it!

The price is the same as you order off the same menu. However the chefs will send you extra items to sample (or so I have read from other trip reports). I have yet to eat at Napa Rose but we have booked the chefs table for our August trip. I believe there are 2 seatings, we have the 2nd seating booked at 8pm.

I'm not sure if the chef's table and chef's counter are the same things. At other restaurants I've been to the "chef's table" has a completely separate menu.

Anyhow, that said, I think eating at the counter is a great experience. I ordered off the menu. I have eaten there on two occasions and both were great. I like that I can see the chefs actually preparing my dish. The first time I sat on the left side and got to watch all the action. The chef came to speak with me briefly to say "Hi" They did bring out a sample of the seasonal soup as well. On the second occasion, I sat on the right side and got to watch the pastry chef at work, so I also got to see all the desserts before I had to decide what I wanted :goodvibes

All in all, its a good experience. I arrived really early for my ADR's and was seated right away both times. I didn't even have to request the counter when I made the ADR. They just happened to be available at the time.

I'd love to know if the chef's table and chef's counter are indeed different things. I've read about the chef's table at Victoria and Albert's in WDW and wonder how this experience compares. Anyone else done this? It sounds like it would be a great place to take DH for an anniversary dinner, something really unique!

Humm, I know we have the chefs table booked so i will let you all know if it is a chefs table or if it is at the chefs counter.

I believe the counter/chef table is the same thing. They do not have something like V & A's at WDW. That is something entirely different.
