Would you do this for a 30th birthday extravaganza celebration or eat at the restaurant? First time at Disneyland and I would like to go BIG! Tell me about your experience so I can decide to book it or not.

I loved it! They gear the meal to your tastes (they ask you up front what your likes and dislikes are) and the special wine pairings were awesome. I also enjoyed seeing all the chefs cook.

I also enjoyed going early and having a cocktail at the bar.

If you do it...which I do recommend...budget at least 2.5 hour for the experience.

For me it would depend on the size of the party. The counter is not conducive to large gatherings. You are literally sitting at a counter and if there are more than 4 people your party will be separated.

I like the counter for groups of 2 or 3. Even a party of 4 can have difficulty talking down the counter. I would eat at a regular table for a large party. Or even consider Carthay, since they have those cool private-ish rooms for larger parties.

I agree w ArchOwl. I went to Napa Rose for my 50th birthday and had the restaurant table that is in the nook by the fireplace in the back of the restaurant. It was a dinner for 6 people. It was just private enough that we could really enjoy having our own little party, and the service was top flight like it always is at Napa Rose. On another trip I have also enjoyed the chef's counter when it was just my family of 4. That is more of a meal where you are interacting with the kitchen and its staff as you are seated in a single row along a counter that faces the kitchen. So it is hard to chat with any one in your party unless they happen to be seated right next to you. So if you want to enjoy the company of a group, get a regular restaurant table and you will still have a fabulous meal and a memorable experience.

Thanks!!! It will only be 2 people, myself and my best friend! We are going to WDW for 2 days and then Disneyland for 7. So excited!!!!

I'd do Chef's Counter especially with just 2 people. Plus you are in the actual restaurant you just have your back to the tables and this way you get a more personalized experience. I went solo for my birthday one year and had an amazing experience.

Do it!!! It is just lovely. Really a fantastic and special experience. They work with you to make sure you will like what you are eating. Have Fairy Tale Champagne too.

DH and I have done this twice, once with his sister and once just the two of us. I cannot recommend this experience enough, it has been amazing both times!

If you want, I can post a link to a photo site where I posted pics from our last meal there.

We had this booked for last May and had to cancel because of my pukey 6 year old. DH was devastated, it was what he was looking forward to most, and I was pretty disappointed myself. Can't wait to go back and get to do the counter this May!

Kevin, I'm sure you'll enjoy it with just the two of you.

I've done it twice with my good DIS friend, @OKW Lover and his wife, and we had wonderful experiences both times. :) The first time it was just the three of us, and we shared our plates, so we ended up tasting 15 different foods, and 15 different wines/ports (maybe 13 because they gave a couple of us the same drink to pair with our course). I was so ... replete ... afterwards.

I'm going again in March with my two kids and son's girlfriend to celebrate my daughter & my birthdays. :)

Thanks! I am sold and am going to book it. I have been super stressed about my Disneyland ADRs since it's my first time.
