So, DH and I...
decided to take our first solo trip since our honeymoon to St. Lucia in 2004. That 10 day trip was interrupted by food poisoning for me 5 days into that trip. I never left the room until it was time to go home. We had high hopes for this trip...
AND WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!
We arrived on Tuesday, 1/27 about 10am. Magical Express bus was at the airport as soon was we got there and we walked right on. There were only about 8 other families on the bus. We made one drop off at the POLY and were in the Wilderness Lodge by about 11:00am. Our room was ready! Yayyy!
We booked a courtyard view room at the Wilderness Lodge. We knew we likely wouldn't get a king bed unless it was on the first floor which I didn't want. We wound up with an amazing room (5015) on the fifth floor, not too far from the wing elevators on the Artist's Point side of the Lodge. Our view was spectacular, especially of the sunrise.
I will say around the 4th day a couple checked in to the room next to us (connecting doors) with a small child and they were kind of noisy in the AM, but I'm sure they thought we were noisy in the pm
The room was very clean, and we had a towel "hidden mickey" upon check in. I will be posting some photos on the Wilderness Lodge photo thread for anyone who is interested.
We cleaned up a little, and headed right out for MK. Let me say that I had no issues with the transportation from the WL. The boats were never more than a 10 minute wait, and usually less. The buses were also very quick to pick us up. Buses and boats were both almost empty and we didn't have to stand all week. Our last trip we stayed at AS Movies and while we enjoyed it, the buses were quite crowded everynight and we usually stood and sometimes had to wait for more than one bus to be filled before we could get on.
The parks were great. Anyone who say there are no "good times" to go to Disney anymore are either not there during the good times, or want to scare others away so they can have the parks to themselves. We went last January also (5-12th) and had similar low crowds. On our first day, we got to the MK at about 12:30pm. Lots of empty spaces on Main St, walk on for Buzz, Space Mountain, POTC and Haunted Mansion. We waited about 5 minutes for Splash Mountain and about 10 minutes for BTMRR. We also did TTA, and we were done with all the major attractions by 2:45pm! We decided since we had dinner reservations for Crystal Palace at 6:10pm, we would go back to the room and catch a quick nap.
We were quickly back to WL on the boat and back in our room. We left again for the park at around 5:15pm. Had a great dinner at Crystal Palace. It was our first time there for dinner and thought the food was quite good. We were done just in time for Wishes! Park closed at 8pm and we took our time getting out. We headed back to WL on the boat and we stopped for a quick drink at the Territory Lounge. Sunken Treasure is sooo yummy!!! And my DH had a Mai Tai!
It's so funny seeing a big guy like him drinking that fruity little drink!
