Name the best signs you've seen spectators holding during a race

These are awesome!!!

I'm looking forward to some fun signs at the Tinkerbell!!

I also can't believe it'll be over in under 2 weeks!!!!

I saw a sign during the full and for the life of me I can't remember, but it said something about chafing and at the time I fully agreed with it.

My favorite one I saw on the course was "The last 100 finishers impress me much more than the first 100" or something to that effect. Gave me great encouragement when I convinced myself to actually finish (slowly) instead of getting swept, which was my original plan.

One of my favorites is worst parade ever.

Another funny one some girls had put together for their friends was

Runner 12345 is sexy and single, call her at (123) 456-7890

I saw the worst parade sign at MK during the half and it made me laugh. I like the singles ad, that's hilarious!

Amen! Since I would likely be one of those last 100. I love that sign! And good for you on finishing!

Thanks! I was more like one of the last 400...but that's only because I started in corral D ;) I never would have finished under the gun otherwise. But I'll take walking my 17.5 minute miles while 7 months pregnant and wear my medal proudly ;) [and then I'll sucker my husband into letting me do C2C - because we NEVER expected I'd finish, so now I have to do it, right???? :rotfl:]

My first race was the tower of terror 13k in 2008, where the pace was an 18 minute mile, and I was bribing the sweepers not to pick me up the whole time (I was BARELY making the pace requirement). It's amazing how far you can come with enough training and dedication, so I encourage anyone that would be in the last 100 to go for it - you can only improve from there!

Let me take my Coach's hat off...
Actually, I thought the sign and sign holder had bad taste. Not to take anything away from those in the back who would be pumped up by the sign but I was running just behind the 5 hour pace group in view at that point. I yelled at her to get out and try to be one of either 100. I guess at the time my thoughts were that maybe she should have been cheering for the middle 13,200 runners instead of staring off into the distance. It was a sore point for several in the group I was running

Sorry.. Putting the cap back on

Ahh, I can see that - I just assumed (since I was already at the back of the pack by then) that she either was cheering for someone late in the race and didn't get there until after the faster runners were gone, or that she had a different sign for earlier in the race. When I'm there as a spectator I usually have front/back signs - something that's specific to the person I'm cheering on one side, and something generic for everyone on the other.

At the DL Half last year, "You think running is hard, try holding this sign for 4 hours."

Lady holding a sign at the OC Marathon, "I like your stamina, call me."

A gentleman was holding an iPad at mile 4 Sunday with a white background and black block letters, "Generic Encouragement Sign"

Love this. Also, it's perfect for my artistic skill level.

I always remember: "Lady Gaga says 'if it doesn't hurt it isn't fun'"

This one is kind of in poor taste but yes, everyone laughed. It was the Pittsburgh Marathon in 2010, in the middle of the Ben Roethlisberger (quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers) sex scandal. "Run like you're a coed and Big Ben is chasing you".

how about

"HURRY, they just opened Soarin!"

I guess this means that you find TnT runners to be in bad taste because they only cheer for those wearing purple and not the thousands of other runners.

I saw one while runnng the Broad Street Run that said :

Don't Stop We Are All Watching

And I got nervous (because it was lik ea 90 degree day and almost passed out) and kept going!

I also had a guy yell (at the 1 mile marker): Only 25.2 more miles to go and then he laughed! I thought someone should have punched him. Just my personal opinion! :confused3
