My parents just decided to join us on our 2/13/03 cruise my Mom has been on DCL with us before but this will be my Dads 1st cruise. While checking last night to see if he had a birth certificate with a raised seal(which it does), I was told that his first name and middle name are spelled incorrectly and it has remained that way for over 60 years- he was born in IL in the early 40's. I know that a birth record can be order quickly from www.vitalcheck.com but we need to correct the name before ordering another (obviously) I called the county in IL where he was born they told me we would have to contact the state vital statistics office in Springfield IL. When I called the number , I got a recording which told me to select option 4 -once I did that I got a fast busy signal several times ---could not get through to a person. Dealing with a state agency when you are out of state is loads of fun!!
Do you think we have to go through a lawyer/court to have it corrected?? Has anyone been through this before? Any help would be appreciated.
