this time of year I am reminded of my childhood kitchen filled with coffee cans b/c mom would save them up all year to fill with cookies and holiday treats to mail off to family. I'm also reminded of the inevitable fruit cake someone would send and it would just sit without anyone touching it in the freezer would be the special holiday treat I always looked forward to as a child-'snowballs' which were a round portion of vanilla ice cream rolled in coconut and topped with a plastic piece of holly and a REAL candle to light (yes, they marketed flamable food treats to small children back in the day).
The washing machine was in our kitchen (no dryer).
A portable dishwasher that was pushed across the room to the sink every evening after supper.
An electric can opener.
A garbage disposal in the sink.
Table and chairs for 6.
A peg board where the pots and pans hung.
