Name fills tutorial/instructions for Photoshop?

I'm totally new to this and I have minimal experience with Photoshop (CS, v 8.0), but I was wondering if anyone had a link to an easy-to-follow tutorial on doing name fills (transparent letters through which some background image shows). I've played with layers some, but I can't seem to figure out the trick (how to make the letters see-through, how to cover the rest of the image, etc.).

Forgive me for my newbiness, and thanks to all you great Disigners!!!

So simple! I wasn't moving the text layer below the image layer in the layers menu, and (Just like it says), it refused to work. Thank you all for your help!!!
