Is it safe to eat the food and drink the water/ice at Nachi Cocom? How is the food? How would you recommend getting there from the dock with a 3 year old?

It's pretty easy to find the taxi stand at the port - they list destinations and prices - when I did it 2 years ago it was about 8 dollars.

I've been there twice and the food and water were fine - no one in my party got ill. The water was bottled. The alcoholic beverages were weak - but since they were unlimited that was kind of a good thing!

I'd go back again with a small child

Our group had 5 kids ranging from age 3-9. There were no car seats available. We used the seat belts and tried not to think about the lack of car seats. I wasn't really happy about it. We were able to find a van to carry our whole group of 11 so I thought about it more like a bus. I'm not sure if it would be possible to find a taxi that had a car seat. I think the going rate was $16 for a regular taxi but the van cost $45 (as it took the place of 3 taxis). For some reason our driver offered to wait at Nachi all day for us and drove us back for another $45.

If you are concerned I think that you could purchase an inflatable booster seat before you go on your cruise (e.g. BubbleBum) to raise the child up to a safe level.

Nachi Cocom was nice and the food was decent. Same as the car seats, I tried not to think about the safety of the water/ice in the drinks and just enjoyed myself - it was all good, no sickness.

We went with our 6 year old - and we brought a booster seat - we have a travel one that isn't difficult to bring along. The first 3 taxis we checked didn't have any seat belts, so we just kept going down the line of taxis, which didn't appear to bother anyone. We then made sure when we called a taxi to take us back to port that we specified we needed one with seat belts.

Of note, it was about as safe (transportation-wise) as many different transportation options we've been on with DCL excursions. In fact, because we could just wait until we found a taxi with seat belts, it was probably safer than some we have done.

The food was good, as was the ice and the drinks, and we had no concerns about it.

Different country, different rules. If in doubt, maybe a private car service is required for you if you don't feel comfortable.

There ice is safe - been there twice and no issues. Food is good - but honestly after they brought the chips and guac the girls said forget the meal, please just keep bringing this. Was so good.

I drank quite a few blended drinks, and I didn't have any I'll effects from the ice. I think I remember reading that they use filtered (or something non tap)to make the ice.

And if you're worried about weak drinks, just get them at the bar and ask for an extra shot of whatever you want. We did that all day and didn't have a problem with wreak drinks. Ordered quite a few Jose specials, but customized with some cream of coconut and an extra shot of rum.
