I'll be staying in a Treehouse Villa next June with my kids and their grandparents (also known as my parents)! I've wanted to stay in a treehouse for well over 20 years, when I first became aware of them, so this is kind of like a Disney Dream Come True (TM). :tinker:

We will have 2 cars, so we'll probably use those for most park hopping.

I'm hoping you brilliant and attractive people can help me with a few questions...

  • Is there enough parking for both cars in front of the treehouse?
  • We will drive to Epcot, DHS, and AK, but I really don't like the parking situation at MK. Does it make more sense to use the busses from treehouses to SSR proper and then onto MK? Or do some people drive to SSR, and then take the bus to MK?
  • How is the pool near the treehouses? Does it have fun stuff for little ones (3 & 5)? Is it better to head over to the main pools at SSR?
  • How is the boat service to Downtown Disney?
  • If my dad gets too crazy with the bad puns, is it acceptable to toss him off the balcony? If so, will there be a soft bed of pine needles to break his fall?
  • ... and most importantly, will Giordano's deliver right to the treehouse, or will I have to meet the driver at the entrance? :mickeybar

I know how you feel about waiting to stay in a treehouse! We had a 1 night stay in November, and have a 3 night stay coming up. The stay we did have was every bit as exciting as I thought it would be, and I don't do steps easily, but the struggle was worth the experience.

There really is room for only 1 car by the treehouses, so the other car should be parked at the Grandstand parking lot, I think that's where you will be directed to park it. The treehouse pool is small, and very basic, so using to the Grandstand's pool or the main pool was what we did. My DS drove me and DH to/from the main pool, the kids and DDiL walked, ran, they have so much energy!

Yes, there's a sufficient growth of foliage to break his fall!:rotfl:

I stayed and just enjoyed the treehouse, but the rest of the group, DH, DS, DDiL and DGC 5, 6 and 7 took the boat to DTD and enjoyed the experience. Some wanted to do the tethered balloon ride, and DGS just loves the Lego store!

Have a great time! I'm going to book the weekend of June 8th tomorrow, but we all want BCV for that trip!

We only have 100 SSR points, and more at other resorts, and the October stay is over Halloween weekend, so we were able to get that 3 night stay from a waitlist I went on right at 7 months.

No, they will direct you to park the second car at SSR. I recommend asking for a villa near the north bus stop, it is closest to the entrance to the villas and makes it easy in/out. Park the second car at Carousel, just inside the SSR entrance and you can drive over to get the car in the morning.

really that is a personal choice. The internal shuttle to SSR runs every ten minutes and there is a walking path near the south bus stop that goes to grandstand. Personally, I would go to grandstand and catch the bus or just drive to MK too
  • How is the pool near the treehouses? Does it have fun stuff for little ones (3 & 5)? Is it better to head over to the main pools at SSR?
The SSR pool is a very small non-themed pool. It is not often used. You can definitely go to the main pools for the kids and using the internal shuttle is great for that!
  • How is the boat service to Downtown Disney?
    good!
  • If my dad gets too crazy with the bad puns, is it acceptable to toss him off the balcony? If so, will there be a soft bed of pine needles to break his fall?
yes, unless you drop him on the sidewalk.....
  • ... and most importantly, will Giordano's deliver right to the treehouse, or will I have to meet the driver at the entrance? :mickeybar
Let the front desk know that you are expecting a delivery and they should buzz them through the gate....

Hope that helps!

We just got back from a stay in the treehouse. You will love it. You can only park one car. The other car will need to parked at Saratoga. We prefered the main pool at Saratoga. The treehouse has an unmaned gate so outsiders may have a problem getting in. You can buzz someone at the gate. We did not do use the bus service or boats. I would think that you would be better off driving to MK. You have to catach a bus from the treehouse to Saratoga and then take a Saratoga bus to the parks. There is a bus driver that just drives between the treehouse and Sarataga. What a boring job...

Congratulations! You will have a great time.

Can't help with the busing situation as we usually have a rental but thought I would add some thoughts to the pool situation.

REgarding the Treehouse pool....it is relatively small and doesn't have a kids play area. However, depending on your group this may not be a bad thing. The pool isn't busy and that may mean that your kids have most of the pool to themselves to play with their grandparents. OUr kids, when younger, were usually less imporessed by the extras and more into the time with their family. Of course, we did take them to the feature pools for slide time but we also found the quiet pools were just as much fun....just different fun. As well, with less people around the pool, it is much easier to keep an eye on them and get some relaxing time yourself!

Awesome! :woohoo:

I haven't stayed there yet but the THV were a factor in buying at SSR. They are unique and very Walt. :thumbsup2

You are soooo lucky! I won't know until next week if I can snag a treehouse too!!!!

My kids DO NOT want to stay in a treehouse...are they nuts or what?!

Too bad ...mommy makes the plans!!! :rotfl:

We loved or stay there. Request to be on the south side if you want to use the busses. Our walk to the Grandstand was about 7 minutes and lovely. It is the first bus stop, so you at least get a seat. We enjoyed the THV pool because it wasn't crowded - plenty of room for my kids to have fun with their dive sticks. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of them and the walk to the main area was pleasant - we are walkers though, so the walk didn't bother us at all! Have a great trip!:goodvibes

Great to know! We just booked a treehouse for March (there were at least 3 more available for that week..FYI)

This will probably be our first trip to rent a car tho....but we are planning on doing that "other" place and Sea World, too, so want the flexibility of our own transportation.

i stayed there in january and it was wonderful! we loved it so much that DH and i booked a trip for may 2012 for 7 nights at the treehouses. it'll be the two of us, our DS who will be a little under 3 and our other son who isn't even born yet! (he'll be 6ish months old by then). we figure it's a great way to bring a baby and not have to worry about his screaming all night! :lmao:

1) Is there enough parking for both cars in front of the treehouse?

probably not. you might be able to squeeze at some of the treehouses but it's not guaranteed

2) We will drive to Epcot, DHS, and AK, but I really don't like the parking situation at MK. Does it make more sense to use the busses from treehouses to SSR proper and then onto MK? Or do some people drive to SSR, and then take the bus to MK?

i wouldn't bother taking the car anywhere! that's my two cents though so i understand if you don't take the advice! ask for a villa in the SOUTHERN section of the treehouses area. that way, you can just walk over to the grandstand bus stop. it won't even take you 5 min to walk there! 1) you get to skip the bus ride around the THV and 2) the grandstand bus stop is first so you get a seat and first to drop off so you don't have to wait. it was so convenient that we never drove anywhere!

3) How is the pool near the treehouses? Does it have fun stuff for little ones (3 & 5)? Is it better to head over to the main pools at SSR?

i don't know if it is technically a "quiet" pool or not but it's pretty much a standard rectangle pool. 3 and 5 year olds will have a blast in a box so i'm sure they'll have fun. but the main pool has the slide. it's not too far of a trek to the main pool and on the way you pass the one by the grandstand area - i forget what that ones called.

4)How is the boat service to Downtown Disney?

nice! you know, it's the boats so it won't be a quick ride and i think they only run every 20-25 min but it's always a nice way to get to DTD. another option is to walk there. it's a long walk but still so lovely - great views and a nice way to check out the resort! plus on the way there are some little play areas for the kiddos!

5) If my dad gets too crazy with the bad puns, is it acceptable to toss him off the balcony? If so, will there be a soft bed of pine needles to break his fall?
... and most importantly, will Giordano's deliver right to the treehouse, or will I have to meet the driver at the entrance?

can't help you with these two but i think it's acceptable to toss out anyone who is putting a damper on your vacation! :)
