MYW w/ Dining Package vs. Separate Arrangements???

Hi all! I'm currently planning a trip with my DH for October 1st thru 8th (friends will be joining us but making their own arrangements).

So far all I've done is book my hotel room (I've paid for about half of it already by mailing checks monthly). We are staying at POP Century with a AAA discount. We have one day left on our hopper passes from last trip 5 years ago.

We're planning Saturday & Saturday to be travel days but are hoping for better airfares and schedules so we can actually have those as park days.

My question is... should I keep doing this as I am - making my own travel arrangements separately? Or should I take advantage of this MYW with Dining offer? In the past I've found package deals to be more expensive than pricing it out separately... :confused3

Sorry that was long winded! :p

It is not long winded at all.

Yes as DisneyRocks! mentioned the FREE dining plan offer expired. But if you want to purchase it, it costs $35 per person per night of stay. So for two adults 7nights you are looking at $490, for the Dining portion of the package. Depending on what type of eaters you guys are it may or may not be worth it.

You can still keep the AAA discount on the room portion of the package, But this requires booking the entire trip through AAA.

As for Package Deals vs "pricing it out separately". The only REAL variable would be airfare(if included), I priced my trip through the Disney site with and without airfare and compared the price. Disney was competitive but it saved me $150 getting my airfare directly through DELTA. You can Also save abit if you buy park tickets through resellers like TICKETMANIA, but I was not willing to do that anyways. If you are buying the ROOM and tickets through DISNEY, price will be almost identical(if you waive insurance), no savings either way. It seems that buy tickets from Disney site saves money but TAXES are not quoted till final purchasing pages.

You might want to go southwest. Fares are very cheap and go fast or priceline. I go southwest and pay $175 to $190 round trip and and remember that there is no meals on these flights and if your traveling with children are you allowed to board first, there are no seating arrangments. I go with the package and add the food and tickets, do not add airfare unless you can not find it anywhere else cheaper. If you use the meal plan be careful of the table service part, if you book late alot of the good places to eat are priority seating are are booked up so you end up wasting the meal.
the counter services are find burgers and fries.
:rolleyes1
