Ok no question we are going to do MYW dining when we go down in Dec. but the question is do you have to buy the park tic and dining together? Or can i get my park tickets elsewhere to save money and then have the dining option added on to that. Or does WDW have my hands tied and i have to get both from them.

It's a package deal, both from Disney. You really have to add any ticket and room discounts you're forfeiting to the cost of the dining package as part of your decision making process.

For deluxe resorts an AP room discount and DDE may be a better combination. MYM sounds like a good plan but not if you don't want to have an appetizer and dessert with every sit down meal. Do you really want an ice cream bar or popcorn as a snack EVERY DAY?

It is a package deal, but while you have to match the number of nights of your resort stay for the dining plan, you do not have to match with park tickets. In other words, if you are staying for 7 nights, you will have to buy 7 days worth of the dining plan, but you can purchase any type or length of park ticket. Also, you might look at booking through AAA, where you can get the dining plan and a discount on rooms.

The dining plan is a great deal, though. People keep mentioning the snack, but its a great deal without the snack. Here is an example that I posted on another thread:

As an example of how good this program is:

Go to the Concourse Steakhouse and order a shrimp cocktail ( $8.99), an 8 oz. Filet Mignon ($ 27.99) , a cheesecake for dessert ($ 6.99), then add on a coffee for $ 1.75. Totals $ 45.72. Then add on the tip (15%--$7.00 and the Florida Tax around $3.00. Your total for that ONE meal is $55.72. For that day, you have paid only $35.00, and on top of the dinner you had for $ 55.72, for lunch you had a counter service for around $10 and a soft drink or water in the parks for $ 2.00. For the day, you got around $ 68.00 worth of food for $35.00.

I can't see how anyone could not view this as an extraordinary value.

and WDW is not losing any money since they pay pennies on thr dollar for the food. the only high cost they would have is labor. :mickeybar
