I know that you can't get the MYW dining plan with APs unless you buy a 1 day ticket to the parks, but do you have to buy at 1 day ticket for everyone in your party or just one person?

I am contemplating buying APs for the first time and just trying to figure out the math. We are planning to take 2-3 trips in a year. I was thinking about booking a MYW plus dining package thru AAA for the first trip and then upgrade tickets to APs when we get there to use for trips 2 & 3. However, I don't know if we would lose the dining package by upgrading the tickets.

So my thought was, can I book the package and upgrade only 1 adult MYW ticket to an AP and be able to keep the dining? Has anyone done this?

You have to have the same ticket for each member in your party. So in your case if you wanted to do a one day, everyone would need a one day ticket not just one person.

But I do believe you can upgrade one ticket and not lose the dining. Since your package would be paid for all you would need to do is go to guest services and exchange that one ticket.

We did this, upgraded to annual passes, using the 1 day ticket from the package. We didn't have any problems, got about $67 toward our AP, and didn't lose dining. HTH!

I was thinking of buying the passes that we need for our whole stay upfront and then upgrading them (as opposed to a one day) just so the sticker shock isn't as huge when we get there!!! This should make a difference though should it?
