Mystic River Movie - Do not read if you have not seen the movie!

Did Kevin Bacon’s character not turn in Sean Penn’s character for murder because in a way, they were relieved that there would no longer be ‘What if I had gotten into that car’ thoughts whenever they saw Tim Robbins’ character – which was mentioned through out the movie.

When Penn’s wife asked him at the end of Robbins’ wife ‘What kind of wife says those things about her husband and why did she run to you?’ Did she convince her to talk to Penn about her feelings and suspicions about her husband so he would end Robbins life so that Penn could start to begin his - And also to put some of the blame on her rather than all on Penn that she contributed to his death by going to Penn in the first place?

But, I just can’t figure out why Penn’s wife didn’t acknowledge Robbins’ wife at the parade?

You must have just watched this movie, too. I saw it for the first time yesterday.

I found the ending to be pretty unbelievable. I cannot believe that Kevin Bacon's character (Sean) would not persue the death of Tim Robbin's character (Davey) even though he "knew" that Sean Penn's character (Jimmy) had something to do with it.

Jimmy's wife was a pretty sick puppy, too. She is just an enabler allowing her husband to continue his sick, illegal way of life.

And I do believe that Davey's wife knew exactly what was going to happen to her husband after she told Jimmy.

Having said all that, I thought the movie was done very well. The acting was very good and Clint Eastwood always makes great movies.

I didn't totally understand the ending.

But I agree, everyone did a great job acting wise. I just had to get over the accents they used.

I saw the movie and loved it.
A friend of mine read the book and said that in the book there is more development of Davey's (Tim Robbin's wife), actually being in love with Jimmy (Sean Penn). And also that Jimmy's wife really "got off" on being the "mobster" wife which would explain the enabling, etc.

Perhaps someone who read the book will post.

Her attitude in the movie definitely shows that.

I thought that Tim Robbin's acting was great, better than Penn's. Great acting all around!

Yes, that was made quite apparent during the movie. She was very proud to tell their kids that Daddy was the "King" and could do anything he wanted in order to protect his family.
