Mystery Woman w/Teddy Bears at Grand Floridian Mystery Solved!!

Aren't all of us like Lynn, always going to Disney. Only difference is she is close enough to go everyday.
................................................................................
I think my sister surely must hold the world's record for time at Disney. She loves the music and all of the people, and loves meeting any and all of you who take the time to come up and introduce yourself to her.

Ask her to tell you the story of how she and her late husband, Bruce, used to 'spread joy' everywhere they went. You will get a kick out of the answer. : )

Best Wishes,
Joan 9/21/09

I actually got to ride the elevator with her yesterday and she was very nice. She commented on how lucky I was to be working at Disney. I had my Poly outfit on since I was headed to an unexpected meeting at the Convention Center at the Grand Floridian. She told me about her husband and how he had been gone for 2 years and she is still totally lost without him. She said she loved being at the GF because it gave her comfort. She told me that she is there 7 days a week. Lovely lady and lovely conversation.

We're going over Thanksgiving and now I'm going to look for Lynn. We love meeting people that love Disney as much as we do. I'm sorry to hear that she's so lonely though.

I'll be at the Grand Floridian on Nov. 28th, and I hope to see Lynn, along with the gingerbread house!

I was fortunate enough to meet her on my last trip as well.

We had ressies to 1900 Park Fare and were a bit early, so we sat in the chairs right behind the piano player. I don't know how, but I instantly knew it was her! She was sitting quietly in one of the overstuffed chairs listening to the music. Then one of the managers came by and said hello to her, so it was confirmed.

We chatted for a bit, and she commented that she marveled at many people knew who she was and how many had said hello that weekend. She didn't realize so many people knew who she was..... I also told her how sorry I was about Bruce's passing and she seemed pleased to talk about him and their wonderful times together at Disney. She was a true delight to talk to... our time was all too short, as our buzzer went off only a few moments later.

She made my whole day!

That's very interesting about your sister, Tracey. We will be visiting WDW in February and I'm going to visit the GF to see if I can meet her. Sounds like a lovely lady. :)

She sounds like a lovely, wonderful woman. I will be in Disney at August and I do hope that she will be there :)

Joan, thank you for sharing stories of your sister Lynn. She sounds like a very kind, sweet lady.

Is Lynn going to be ok with so many strangers approaching her?

Happy New Year!

I wish I had seen this before we went to WDW at the beginning of the month. I would have taken my English teddy - Wendy Boston to meet her. My DH would have thought I was nuts, but would have gone along with it.

I will be sure to look for her whenever we go again. I love going to the different resorts around Christmas time to see how they are decorated.

Tracy, I love the stories that you told us about her. She & her doctor sound like they do have a great sense of humor and camaraderie. Plus any person who loves bears has to be a great and loving person.

Thank you for telling us about her.

Wow-what I think is so cool is that Lynn has all of us looking out for her. You know-making sure she's ok as well as the cast members. She sounds like a kind soul who brings a little bit of perspective to all of us!:goodvibes

:thumbsup2Hi,
We always stay at the Grand Floridian Resort, and I have always seen your sister. She always says "hello" with a warm smile. This trip I got up the nerve to speak to her. We were there for 11 days, I started talking to her on the 2nd day there. And afterwards I spent hours talking to her, just talking. It was so calming. Your sister has a sweetness that comes from within. She smiles and is so sweet to everyone. Whenever we went out I would make sure to say goodnite and let her know where we were going. If she was there when we returned I would spend time with her. On my 11th anniversary she gave my husband and myself two bride and groom teddybears. They are beautiful. As soon as I returned home, my husband put them in my entertainment center (which is where I have my Disney Statues, since 1985). These statues are priceless to me as is my new teddybears. I lost my grandmother 11 years ago, and she feels like my grandmother. I am looking forward to seeing her again very soon. Special people like that are VERY hard to come across, and I am so glad that she crossed my path. God bless your sister and yourself....:goodvibes:cool1:

What a sweet story, thanks for sharing!

We were there last December. My son plopped down near her and chatted with her for 30 minutes or so. He's a sweet old soul and loves to talk to people, so he had a nice coversation about teddy bear collections and other things. He talked with her until she was picked up. Sweet lady.:)

Beautiful story.....

We had the pleasure of meeting Lynn back in 2008 (but didn't know it until recently). We were having our DD's 4th birthday dinner at 1900 PF. We came out of the resturant with DD very sad and crying because the cake we got for her was ruined when a server was backing up from a table and ran right into me knocking the cake out of my hand. (we had the leftover cake boxed up to take back to our resort.) It was a beautiful Castle/Cinderella cake and they offered to get us a standard cake to take back, but we didn't want it.

Anyway, we left the rest. with DD sobbing in her Cinderella costume and DH and I trying to calm her down, when this sweet lady came up to us and pulled this beautiful white teddy bear out of a bag that had on a mini Fairy Godmother costume with a wand in the hand. DD's eyes lit up and she smiled so big and said a big thank you to this lady. I was crying also by then and couldn't say much, when the lady said, "A beautiful teddy for a beautiful little birthday girl."

She totally turned my DD's mood around and she carried that teddy bear around with her for days after! She referred to the lday as "her REAL fairy godmother". All I could say to this lady was thank you so much and then she just said your welcome and walked away. We came back to the GF the next day and tried to find her so I could give her a proper thank you without crying, but I couldn't find her. I was seriously thinking she was a ghost or something who just poofed away!

Now that I know the real story of Lynn, it touches my heart even more. On our next trip I will be going over to the GF every chance I get to try and find her to finally say thank you!!

I enjoyed reading about your sister. My husband and I saw her last summer but did not want to approach her. We asked a cast member who she was and he said that she is a frequent guest. Nest time, I will certainly introduce myself to her having visited Disney hundreds of time for the last 35 years.
Thank you for sharing.

I never heard of your sister before but I have never been to the Grand Floridian. We are going to try and visit it during our Dec trip to see the Christmas decorations. If I see your sister, we will say hi to her. My girls are 6 and 7 and would love to meet her. She has every right to go into a hotel and sit and listen to the music. Shame on people who think she does not have a right to sit there.

I was telling my husband this story today and he said "well then, when we go in Dec we need to make a trip over to the GF and meet her" so we will be there for my 50th birthday on Dec 22 and I hope she is there...I am looking forward to it:)

What a sweet story. I've seen Lynn a few times at the Grand Floridian and like LindyN, I always imagined that she was visiting the Grand Floridian to reminisce of her younger days and the time she spend there with a special someone! Thank you for sharing:goodvibes
