Just for we ANZACS.

I'm not sure if many of you know. If you are staying at GCH, DLH or PPH hotels, there is this reasonably new activity called Mysteries of Magic available to you. It's during EMH's at DL park and it's in the Magic shop on Main Street. It goes for an hour and is $10 pp. It's open to anyone aged 5+. It's Tuesdays and Thursdays and you book through Guest Services at your hotel.

They apparently show you how to perform some basic magic tricks, you get some training materials and personalised instruction.

I have booked in to do it next week with my DS as he loves magic, so will report back once I've done to let you know how it is. I haven't been able to find anyone who has done it or any reviews on it, so will be the guinea pig myself :rotfl:

Just thought I'd tell you about it now as there are so many of us there in Sept and Oct, some may have kids (or adults) who may want to do it :thumbsup2

How did you book? I've sent a couple of emails but nothing back yet?

My kids would love to do this!

I called Vacation Planning and they didn't know anything about it. I mentioned that the sheet mentioned Guest Services, so she transferred me to DLH Guest Services (as we are staying at DLH, you'd be transferred to Guest Services at the whichever DLR hotel you are staying at). The guy at Guest Services was great, he took our name and found our hotel reservation and then booked us in for the date I wanted. Super easy.

I would try calling the hotel you are staying at and ask for Guest Services and they will book you in :thumbsup2. I didn't have to give a credit card or anything.

Thank you! We are also staying at DLH. I will give them a buzz. Fingers crossed we get a place!

When does it start? I didn't even think it might not be on while we are there.

That sounds cool and my kids like magic too.

What I want to know is............why are you in the US for so long and when are you coming home? Or have you decided to stay there forever?

It's on on Tuesdays and Thursdays from what I can gather and it's during EMH. That varies depending on the actual park opening time. They will tell you the time when you book :thumbsup2

Goodness no, we are coming home :rotfl: We have a week and a half left. Been pretty cool living at Disneyland for the last 3.5 months.

I've been doing a program near by so decided to stay near DL. As I'm not driving I've have loved having the shuttles to the different shopping centres and the tour buses picking up at local hotels for tours. It's been great, but we are ready to come home :thumbsup2

MsMinnie, don't do it. It was terrible! They show you two card tricks and the rest is trying to sell you things. If you buy this kit we will tell you how to do the trick. This CD pack is really good. We have all of these packs here, whatever you buy we will show you how to do it.

I left feeling like we were only there to try and bump up the magic shop sales and that we had totally wasted an hour of EMH! The shop isn't owned or run by Disney, so the employees are obviously trained to do the hard sell! It's a shame because it could be great. If only they didn't do this buy buy buy thing the whole time. It was all very awkward and I think the other family there felt the same from the looks on their faces!

I made a complaint to Guest Services as soon as we left. (oh and it isn't $10 as advertised, it's $11 something (can't remember, we didn't get a receipt and as it's not a Disney thing, it wasn't room charged, we had to pay on the day).

How timely you posted because I called up only this morning enquiring about it. Was told to book when we check in.

How disappointing to hear! It sounded great but I will definitely take your advice and give it a miss. My concern was missing the only EMH we would have had a DL but from what you have said, it isn't worth it!

Thank so much for returning to post your experience - I really appreciate it!

Thanks for letting us know. That's one less thing we HAVE to do. I'm sorry for you that it was a let down though.

If you only have one EMH, it is 100% not worth it :thumbsup2

It was a letdown, but my DS did enjoy the two card tricks he was taught and loved the extra trick he bought, so for him it was worth it, but he was oblivious to the sell sell sell routine they had going and that the entire hour was just a big "how much can we get them to buy" routine.

Thanks for the update.
You're Welcome :goodvibes
