I would love for my family to go on a vacation this summer. we did 2 summers ago... stayed at a friend's uncles upstairs of a house for only $600 for the week. However, it was way too small. We are 4 adults (sis, bro in law, mom and I) and niece (7) and nephew (4). I think this time mom and I would prefer our own space and bro in law tends to be a total TV hog/couch hog so it wasn't very comfy for my mom and I... plus a little break from the kids here and there wouldn't hurt. Adjoining rooms or maybe even same larger unit would probably work.

Near a beach would be great and family friendly (prefer not a party/drinking/college kid type of space.)

Tall order, right? But I think it's possible. We like the option to cook in if need be. Any BUDGET FRIENDLY places to stay? Not worried about spending $.. we're a very budget savvy family and I'd rather pay less to sleep to have that little extra to play with:)

TIA!

I know you didn't mention it, but wanted to throw out Hilton Head as an alternative. We stayed at the Hilton Head Resort last summer and it was the most inexpensive beach vacation we ever took.

They have three bedroom units that would fit all of you comfortably. Some of them were renting for like $700 a week.

You can see it on hhresort.org. We rented from a private owner on homeaway.com.

Hope this helps!

We have stayed twice before and are going back this summer. We were able to rent a four bedroom villa on the fairway for 800 for five days. They have three bedroom villas on the fairway as well that ran for around 600.

We love it since it has three bathrooms, four bedrooms, full kitchen, washer and dryer. The resort has private beach access as well as large pool with lazy river, kids' play area, rental bikes, etc. There are also small quiet pools too.

Just have to say, I LOVE Carolina Beach!! What a great place! We are going in early June, but it's my brother-in-law's place that he doesn't rent out. Good luck!

Been there so many times and stayed all along the strand. North Myrtle Beach will offer you the best bang for your buck accommodations wise. Check out http://www.northmyrtlebeachtravel.com/ Also, VRBO. We rented via them the last time. I can PM the name of the folks we used, they were great and have about 4 different rentals, but don't know if any are large enough for your group. You can do a search at:
