My DS has a baseball tourney in Myrtle Beach next summer, over 4th of July(busiest time of year). Our family is also going to join us and we want to rent a house on the beach. I have searched all over the place to find a house. Finding something in the right price range and that fits everyone's need/wants is crazy! Does anyone have any information about Myrtle Beach rental agencies or places to rent? I feel like I have drained about all of my resources at this point I am at a total loss.

Thanks!

Christi,

My family has vacationed on Pawleys Island, SC which is just south of Myrtle Beach for going on 60 years. We're actually going to be there over that same week in 2014.

We use Pawleys Island Realty and Lachicotte Realty. Many people put down a little bit of money during the week this summer to reserve the same house for the same week the following year. In January they have to pay a 50% deposit on that house. So inevitably, houses open up in January.

Litchfield (also south of Myrtle Beach) is also very nice and I believe that both of the aforementioned agencies manage houses there as well.

Christi, we just spent a week in Garden City Beach which is about 15 minutes south of Myrtle Beach. It is a beautiful location. Our extended family rented a beach front house from VRBO (Vacation Rentals by Owner). The same house was listed with Dunes Realty also. We had a 4 bedroom, 4 bath, 2 balcony home with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, pool, & walkway from our front door to the beach. The only downside of this vacation was that I wasn't in Disney! Good luck.

Thank you so much I will check out the Pawleys & Lachicotte Realty. That is something I haven't tried yet. Good to know some things might open up come January. We are just concerned because it is 4th of July week and we don't want to miss out because we waited too long.

I have been searching on VRBO do you happen to know what the property # was? I am very bummed about it not being a Disney vacation. I am hoping to still make that work next fall! :thumbsup2

We usually stay in North Myrtle (Cherry Grove Area) when we go to the Myrtle Beach area. We have used White Realty and Elliott Beach Rentals for several years and have always been happy with our places.

We have used Elliot Realty, Grand Strand Vacations, Garden City Realy and Ocean Front Vacations in the past. Recently we have rented multiple condos from Dunes Village Ocean Front Resort -- they have two buildings, some condos are 4-5 bedrooms and my kids love it because it has an indoor water-park. We have friends that swear by Ocean Lakes -- they have both a campground and then vacation rentals but it's more of a distance to the ball-park.

Last summer we stayed in the tournament condo rental and while the kids had a blast there I wasn't impressed and felt it was in need of drastic updating and cleaning.

We are also going to a baseball tournament next summer in Myrtle Beach. not exactly sure what the dates are yet. Taking notes for when we do get the dates...

Thank you all so much for the information. I knew my Disney friends would be able to help me out. This gives me some new search options! For those of you that have used Elliott Realty what do you think of them? I have a place that could possibly work for us on courtesy hold until 2014 rates come out but I have been hearing bad things about the agency, cleanliness of their houses, double bookings not sure what to think.

You might also look at Sunset Beach NC. Its not that far a drive to Myrtle from there and there are plenty of rental houses.

It's been a few years since we used Elliott, from what I recall the house was fine -- nothing special, but clean. We did have a problem w/ the hot-tub being dirty but they came and dealt with it.

We stay in Cherry Grove as well and use Elliott. Headed that way tomorrow!!

VRBO listing #130633. Good luck. It's not a Disney vacation, but you will still have a great time.

My nephew played several summers at MB in traveling league level for high school. While I love Sunset and have lots of friends with homes there and have stayed there also, I would not stay there while going to a tournament. It can be a long drive to the field unless you are playing in Whiteville near there where lots of ball tournaments take place. Find out if they know location of fields. We never knew exactly which fields for what games until several weeks out but that would give you an idea for location. While I am all about saving money, due to traffic this might be a time to spend a little more to be closer to where you are playing. We were at Coastal Carolina University for some of our games and even had to drive back to Florence for one of them. Traffic will be veryyyyyyyyy heavy that week. We stay in Garden City south of MB at a family members house. Have heard good things about Garden City Realty. Several houses in our block use them and I have never heard any complaints fom rental neighbors about houses not being cleaning. Kings Highway or 17 will be very busy. I think it is Highwy 31 - sorry just know where to cut - that is a bypass around MB from Garden and comes out at the Tanger Outlets. There are some exits that off of it that will put you back on the action closer in. I have just rented though VBRO for the first timme for Orlando next summer be careful not all rentals are through owners but are rental agencies. Owners will be cheaper there. If you have any questions about the area just ask. We go several times a year and have been going for over 50 years. Garden is my favorite because it is close to MB but quieter than NMB. Seafood is great at Murrells Inlet where all he boats come in too. Good luck.

Dunes Village is great. We love Long Bay Resort. We stay there each March for a car show and I love their indoor pool and lazy river.

Do you happen to know where in MB the tournament is? I would find that out first, and go from there. It would be a big pain to be staying in North Myrtle, if the games were scheduled south of Myrtle Beach. And we used Elliott Realty earlier this year, actually, and were very pleased. No issues at all!

We will be playing at the Cal Ripken facility in Myrtle Beach. Appears to be near 17 bypass. Right now we are open to anything from Garden City to Cherry Grove. We are just afraid of what the traffic might be during the 4th of July week.

I appreciate everyone's help! I have been given some new places to try and opens up a whole new can of worms in the search process.

Does anyone know if we would happen to find a great 2nd row house with a nice ocean view where exactly is beach access? Are there only specific places to get onto the beach? I imagine that is the case but I was just trying to make sure. TIA

There are several in Garden City but the houses will be more because they are often larger with elevators, pools, and 2 floors. The public beach accesses are located close to each other. Easy walk if not on the beach. We stay on Easy Street. It is a u shaped development and we are at the end where it circles around. We are at the beach in just a few minutes. We walk down and over to cross the street for access. This one has parking for cars and golf carts. Not all do. Most houses which are 3 bedroom 2 bath start at 1400 before taxes, cleaning etc. on the street and these are not on the beach. Do not know what they are that week. If you stay south of MB your busiest traffic area on 17 bypass is from Surfside to Market Commons near the airport and old air force base. It thins at some around the MB Mall on 17 bypass. Sometimes even with stop lights regular 17 is better. Depends on the group down at the time. Around Surfside always seems busy no matter which road you choose. How many do you need to sleep? We are looking at Dunes Village Resort in March due to the weather at that time being cool. Our room will sleep at least 8 with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, kitchen, LR, kitchen etc. don't remember if there is a washer which will be important for you. There is an indoor waterpark. A friend of mine really likes the Caribbean. Both are located out of the main drag on Ocean Drive in MB. Caribbean is the last hotel on the main drag before running into several residential areas and Dunes is in the 50 Ave. area a little further down absolutely beautiful areas. Gorgeous very expensive huge homes built before the area became so expensive. Have not goggled where the ball park is. I also like Long Bay in the 72nd Ave. All 3 have choices with kitchen areas. My friend says the Caribbean rooms are nicer. We are not staying there because water indoor areas look nicer at Dunes. Palm building is suppose to be nicer at Dunes. Have stayed at Long Bay but not the other two but my friend has and likes nicer hotels with kid programs.
