myrtle beach help needed

I am going to Myrtle Beach Friday and I have never been there before. My dh plays bagpipes and he is playing a wedding so we get a free trip.

I was wondering if anyone who is familiar with the area could give me a few pointers. We will be staying in Murrells Inlet at the Brookwood Inn. I know it is not on the beach so where would be a good place to go to the beach for a day.....I'm sure there are public beaches but where is the best place to go? We will have a 5 year old with us.

Also, where are the best restaurants and what else is there to do there?

Murrells Inlet has some great restaurants. We like drunken Jacks for seafood. I would avoid the Seafare as it is a traditional, overpriced buffet. We also had an awesome hamburger at what looked to be a biker bar--can't remember the name.

As for beaches, I would head to Litchfield and Pawleys, which are south or murrells inlet for beach access--these have few public spots, but are not as crowded as Myrtle. Also, you may want to try the Myrtle Beach state park, which charges an entry fee, but I think has some facilities on the ocean.

Hello....I like surfside beach. It isn't very crowded but you are still close to where the "action" is And it isnt far from Murrells Inlet either. On the pier in susrfside there is a small family owned seafood restaurant called Nibels. Very good but if you go make sure you have cash...they do not accept plastic

Murrells inlet is south of MB, and Litchfield beach is not too far. We stay in Surfside Beach, which is in between Murrells and MB Surfside is not a crowded, but it is hard to find public parking. We go by 10:30 am and usually find a spot. Bring quarters for the meters. The State park is also a good place, but you pay a fee to get in.

Make sure you get the coupon books! They have great specials. MB has got to be the mini-golf capital of the world! If you go to MB proper, have patience with the traffic and allow extra time to get to your destination.
