My wine induced charity auction purchase got me a no kids trip to Disney!-update 3/27

After Small World I decide that I need some kind of caffeine. I hadn’t had anything caffeinated yet and I would be getting a headache soon if I didn’t get any in my system ASAP. I am very particular about my coffee. It must be sweet and creamy. I don’t like that powdered crap creamer either. I normally use hazelnut creamer that must be refrigerated so making my own coffee in my room doesn’t work as I don't have access to my creamer at Disney. I decide that I would try one of the cappuccinos form Main Street Bakery. I point out to DH that Main Street Bakery may be his only chance to get his favorite food at Disney….the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich. We have tried to duplicate this at home, it isn’t the same. Let me tell you too, I make some the best chocolate chip cookies. We have tried other chocolate chip cookie sandwiches and those too are not nearly as good as Disney. DH is not a foodie like me but he does have a thing for these ice cream sandwiches. I do prepare him for the possibility of them not being available for breakfast.

We get up in line and I ask the server if they have them at this time. They say of course and we aren’t the first one to get them at 9:30 in the morning.:thumbsup2

We used 4 snack credits for this meal. Everything was good, including the cappuccino. I am happy that I now have a cheap coffee option at Disney. As a matter of fact I will repeat the breakfast of a cappuccino and choc croissant on our departure morning. I didn’t take a photo of that meal so I will mention it here.

Next we head over to BTMRR. I have no pictures to prove it but that is what we did next. (I think?) There was maybe a 5 minute wait.

After BTMRR it is Splash. It is a walk on. For some reason no one is willing to sit in the front but we are brave. This will be the second attraction that I go crazy with the camera and take a lot of pictures. This is another on of my Disney favorites.

Check it out. They couldn't even fill our log boat thingie. :thumbsup2

After Splash we take the train to get back over to ToonTown. There are a couple of cm’s behind us so I don’t hesitate to ask them to take our picture.

My plan was to ride the roller coaster there. I really like that little thing. As we are walking a lady with an infant falls. I only saw part of it but it looked to me like that baby’s head hit the concrete. There are several people helping her get up but I am thinking that she may need some Disney help so I go to get a cm at the little gift shop outside the Goofy roller coaster. (I am so sorry I can’t remember its name and I am too lazy right now to look it up). By the time the cm gets to her she is walking fine and is saying everything is ok. I must say her leg had a horrible abrasion. I hope that baby’s head was all right too.

Back to the roller coaster. When we were here in Aug there was hardly a wait and we road it several times and it was a walk on ride. Well this is Dec. and we haven’t had to wait for hardly anything yet. Guess what, there is a huge line. So I say no way. I do stop to take these photos since Minnie and Mickey’s house won’t be around for much longer.

Coming next: Space Mountain Heaven. :cloud9:

PS. The name is Goofy’s Barnstormer! And I did not have to look that up. :rotfl:

I love all the pics of you and your DH together! Soo cute!
I'm glad to hear you liked Koussina, maybe I'll try it someday.

Great update! Cookies and icecream for breakfast... it can only be done in Disney World! :rotfl:

Emma princess: x

What a great breakfast! Good to know that you can get ice cream sandwiches that early in the morning!

I'm usually not an ice cream sandwich kinda girl (I don't like mixing ice cream and anything cake like..) But oh my goodness! That looks delish! I may have to convince myself!

Thank you. We almost never get our picture taken together on vacation which is the great thing about photopass. :goodvibes

Yes, DH was quite hesitant at first about getting one but when the lady said that other people had already gotten them I knew he was going to go for it.

They really are wonderful. I wish I had one now. ;)

:thanks: Thanks for reading everyone!

From Toontown we take the pathway from Toontown over to Tomorrowland with the hopes that Space Mountain is still open. It is not only open but it has a 20 minute wait. I estimate the time is about 10:15 at this point. Is it just me or have gotten a lot done in 2 hours?

DSC01906.jpg

I think the wait is more like 10 minutes. I was a little disappointed because I wanted to play with new video game things that they have in the queue but we walked straight through all of that although I did take a picture.

DSC01907.jpg

In no time I am on my favorite ride.

DSC01908.jpg

It was as fun as always! I wish I had one of these in my backyard. :wizard:

I love all the stuff to look at as you exit on the moving ramp.

DSC01910.jpg

DSC01913.jpg

When we get out it is a massive downpour. We throw on our Dollar Tree ponchos and head out. In retrospect I wish we would have gotten in line for Space Mountain again but we did the TTA instead. I once again go crazy with the camera.

We have an 11:00 adr at The Plaza so we head over there in the pouring rain. All the while we are debating whether or not we should keep the adr as we are both not hungry from breakfast. DH is especially not hungry after that giant cookie. I tell DH that we could cancel and just eat at one of the resorts like Grand Floridian for lunch. DH doesn’t want to stray from the plan so we continue our walk to The Plaza. We arrive at about 10:55. Of course once we get there is stops raining. They start calling names right at 11:00. It still takes about 10 minutes for them to call us.

While we are waiting someone notices DH’s T-Shirt and asks if we are from Missouri. We say yes. He asks what town. We tell him. He says “I am from there too”. We live in a medium sized city in which everyone knows everyone or at least you know someone else that that knows someone you know. DH is the kind of guy who can't go anywhere without running into someone he know. On our last trip he ran into someone at the airport he knew. :sad2: As it turns out DH knows the guy's father and he grew up less than a half mile from our own home. Of course we all must say “It’s a Small World After All”.

We are finally seated. Oh and by the way, I noticed they were taking walk ups at The Plaza which surprised me because of free dining.

We had an efficient server. I can’t remember her name. DH got the Rueben and I got the Steak Sandwich. Both were good but not to die for good.

DSC01927.jpg

DSC01928.jpg

I got the brownie sundae for dessert with butter pecan ice cream. The server was nice enough to remind be that it was sugar free. I told her that I knew that and I was certain there was enough sugar in the brownie and fudge that I probably wouldn’t notice. I was right. It was very good but I was way too full and only ate about a third.

DSC01929.jpg

DH had told the server that he was going to have to pass on dessert. Being the wise woman she was she suggested that we at least get a brownie to go which we took her up on.

DSC01930.jpg

I swear this brownie weighed a pound if not more. DH freaks out that I actually took a picture of the brownie. He didn't find out that I had done this until later as he was in the bathroom when I took the picture. I wanted to show everyone what you can get at The Plaza. He thinks I am crazy, do you? :rolleyes1

After we leave the restaurant the Main Street Mayor is outside so we get our picture taken.

DSC01932.jpg

It is now off to use our Space Mountain fp that we got when we arrived. I can’t remember what the wait time was. I am thinking it was 30 minutes. I do remember that the line was a little bit longer than what it was earlier when we went on the ride.

Once again it was as fun as always. DH learned that he is better off being in the back seat as there is more leg room.
This is now my screen saver. That is how much I love this ride.

DSC01933.jpg

(On a side note, the reason DH looks so stiff on many of the ride pictures is that he had been having back issues. He is trying not to do any more damage to his back by sitting in a proper position)

Sadly this would be our last trip on Space Mountain. :sad1: As I type this I am thinking that I wish I knew for sure when I would have another chance.

After SM we head back to Fantasyland. One of my other must do’s for MK was Mickey’s Philarmagic. This is my favorite 3-D movie.

DSC01935.jpg

On the way over we stop to watch the band play. DH is not impressed and wants to move on. Me I wanted to stay laid back and watch for a bit but oh well. I think they were playing “Under the Sea” for the brief moment I watched.
DSC01937.jpg

On the way into Mickey’s Philarmagic is Peter so we snap a quick photo.

dsc01938.jpg

As always Mickey’s Philarmagic does not disappoint.

There is a 10 minute wait at Haunted Mansion so we decide to do that next although this was not on my must do list. Don’t get me wrong. I like Haunted Mansion it just isn’t one of my favorites and I can live without it. In the end I am glad we went. Did they update this since Aug 08?

DSC01939.jpg

Our final attraction for our MK morning was a must do for us….. The Hall of Presidents. DH is a huge history buff. This I know they updated since we were here last but I was only expected the addition of President Obama. There was a lot that seemed different although I am still not able to put my finger on what all the changes were. This was actually the longest wait we had for the day so we took a few pictures in the lobby.

DSC01941.jpg

DSC01943.jpg

DSC01944.jpg

Afterward we head to the gift shop just outside the attraction. We buy a set of presidential pencils for the kids. DD16 has a pencil collection so it was an appropriate gift.

We decide it is time to leave MK. It is around 1:30. We need to rest as we have big plans tonight. We are going to Epcot. We have an ADR at Chefs de France. We want to stay for Illuminations. After Epcot then we are going to check out Jelly Rolls. :cool1: This was going to be our late night and the next day was going to be our day where we can rest and do whatever came to mind.

I will leave you with our photos as we left MK.:sad1:

The question is: Will our evening go as planned????

Especially the one of the ice cream sandwich. I had to call DH to come see it:goodvibes He's an ice cream freak and he thought that an ice cream sandwich of such proportions seemed a perfectly WONDERFUL breakfast:thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about Chefs and your evening:wizard:

I'm loving your report so far...can't wait to hear more! Are they going to get rid of Mickey and Minnie's houses?

Thanks for reading. I am glad your DH agrees about the ice cream. Looking back I forgot that my original plan was to share it with him but on impulse I got the choc croissant.

I thought they were but when I was looking up some park info I came across this on DIS:

Major Fantasyland Expansion Announced

By 2013, guests will be able to visit their favorite princesses in their own themed attractions. Dance with Cinderella, celebrate Aurora's birthday and put on a performance with Belle in Beast's castle, which will also include a new themed restaurant. Other plans include increasing the size of the Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride and adding a Little Mermaid attraction. To make room for the expansion, most of Toontown will be removed and Mickey and Minnie's houses will get relocated near the front of the park.

Thanks for reading. :)

I can't believe how low the crowds were when you left. What a busy morning-you got a lot done and ate breakfast and lunch. Can't wait to read about Chefs de France.

Thanks for reading. We did get a lot done.

I know I missed updating this weekend. I had a Pampered Chef party this weekend and now I have the crud. Feeling better today and will probably be bac at work tomorrow.

Yep, the Chefs de France update. That will be one you don't want miss. :rolleyes1

Concise and to the point. Great report so far! I much prefer reading solo or couples reports!

I love your review so far! Keep it coming!

:welcome: Thanks for reading.

I am finally getting a chance to post an update. It has been crazy for me lately. I had a Pampered Chef party last weekend and then I got sick.
I am feeling much better now.

On another side note. Next weekend is the Heart Ball. Ya know the event that got me this trip. I keep telling myself that I am not going to have any impulse purchases but then I started to think about it. I realized that this trip was probably the best impulse purchase ever even though it wasn't what I thought I purchased or what I could afford. I wonder what I will end up with this time.

I just found your trip report and have really enjoyed it. I just returned from a trip with no little kids for the first time . My 21 year old daughter was competing in the cheerleading competition at the wide world of sports complex My other daughter 19 came along and so did a few various relatives We had the best time. It was so relaxing going at an adult pace. Looking forward to your Jellyrolls night. We went there too and enjoyed it altho we didn't think the entertainers were quite as good as they had been in previous years

So happy your found it. This was our first trip to Jelly Rolls so I wouldn't know if they had been better or worse. DH had recently gone to a dueling piano bar in KC and he said that it was more entertaining there. I think he used the term "raunchier".:rolleyes1

Anyway, my computer locked up when I went to add my latest post. I am going to try again. Hopefully there won't be any problems this time.

Just got up to date on your report. Sounds like a very good trip. Thanks for posting!

EPCOT

We went back to POP and took a little rest. DH actually slept but I was only able to doze for a few moments.

I think we arrived at EPCOT sometime after 5 PM. Of course there was a bus waiting to take us to EPCOT at POP.

Here is the standard photo of the giant golf ball except it includes Christmas decorations.

DSC01950.jpg

We check out the information board and see that there are actually fp’s still available for Sorin’. :cool1: There is no question what to do next so we head to The Land. We get our fp. The return time is between 8:30 and 9:30. The line is short for Living with the Land so we hop on. Of course there are many photo opportunities.

DSC01963.jpg

After we get off Living with the Land we start putting times together. Our ADR is at 7:30. If we take an hour and a half to eat we won’t be done until 9 pm. This was the night I wanted to watch Illuminations. There was no way we could eat, ride Sorin’ and still see Illuminations. We decide to take the boat over to World Showcase and check out Chefs de France. Maybe we can eat early.

DSC01966.jpg

We get there and we see a ton of people waiting outside the restaurant. This does not look good.:sad2: I suggest that we consider eating elsewhere. I mention that I had almost picked the Moroccan restaurant and that is one of my friend’s favorite restaurant in Disney. I also mention that it was on the places that will often have openings. I don’t recall how DH responded but DH decides to go to the restroom. He uses the one that is near Morocco. :idea:I take the moment to run over to Restaurant Marrakesh. I ask the hostess if they have room for us. They say sure, it will be about a half hour. I tell them that I will need to check with my husband and I will be back if that is where we want to eat. DH agrees so we go over and get our names on the list. It is only about 6:30 at this point so we should have plenty of time for Sorin’ and Illuminations.

While DH waits for the table I decide to walk around for a bit. I take this picture:
DSC01967.jpg

I am in line at the drink counter near Tangerine Café planning on buying DH a Moroccan beer and myself some wine when DH calls me to say our table is ready. What it has only been five minutes???:banana::confused:

DH is already seated by the time I get back to the restaurant. We are promptly waited on. We order some beverages.

Marrakesh Express - Cruzan coconut rum, orange juice, and pineapple juice, topped with Meyer's dark rum. Very yummy.

DSC01968.jpg

I debate quite a while about what to get. I thought about getting the Marrakesh Royal Feast (arira soup, Beef Brewat Rolls, Lemon Chicken, Roasted Lamb Meshoui, Couscous with Seven Vegetables, and Assorted Moroccan pastries $42.95 per person) The server said it would be an ext $8 if you are in DDP.

In the end I get the Shish Kebab (grilled tenderloin of beef served with hummus). I substitute the hummus for couscous.

DSC01969.jpg

DH gets the same with no substitutions.

DSC01970.jpg

The belly dancer comes out while we wait on dessert. We took a picture but it didn’t turn out.

Desserts were just ok.

I had the Bastilla. I found it to be bland.

DSC01974.jpg

DH had Marrakesh Delight (fresh fruit salad topped with mint ice cream, toasted almonds and orange blossom water) He didn’t say much but ate it all.

DSC01975.jpg

This was very good. The second best meal of the trip. It gets :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
I would certainly eat here again. There was a very large group at the table next to us and as they are leaving the bundle up. I say to DH that you can tell the ones that are from the south because they are all bundled. We are just wearing sweatshirts. They overhear me and say they live in the area and are just at Epcot for dinner. I mention this because A) it is a sign that the restaurant is good if the locals are there and B) I was a little jealous of them going to Epcot whenever they felt like it.
