My wine induced charity auction purchase got me a no kids trip to Disney!-update 3/27

Wow.. a video - it can be done!! My sister took 8+ hours of video on our trip.. I hoped there would be away to share some clips on our TR :goodvibes

I still can't believe we sat right by each other at The Wave!! :rotfl:

Yes, it was easier than I thought. I use photobucket and just posted the same as any other photo. I am curious to know what you saw when you viewed the video. Did it take you to my photobucket account and you were able to see all the videos or was it just this one? I know when I tried it I was able to see that there were more videos to be viewed.

Thanks so much for joining. Our paths might continue to cross because I think we both did Epcot on Saturday night.

Oh, thank you for viewing and making a comment. I so appreciate it. :flower3:You said you were lonely too. Do you have a tr that you are working on? I don't see a link on your signature. I do see that you have a trip coming up in two weeks. I bet you are getting excited. :cheer2: Post your links and I will be sure to check it out. Sorry if I have checked it out and you found my link that way. I am really bad at remembering names. I am trying to get better at noticing that part of the post. Unless it says "Robo" I have no idea who your are. :rotfl:

Oooh let's see if we crossed paths again in Epcot!! :wizard:

We get to Osborne Lights about 5:45. They start at 6 pm. The place is getting pretty full but tolerable. I of course have my camera ready. Here we go……..

DSC01834.jpg

Finally the video.....

All I can say was that was really cool. :cool2: I hope Disney gets their contract renewed for Osborne Lights so I can experience that again.

Next we head over to TOT for our last elevator ride. We sit next to a gal about who is riding alone I pity the person that ever tries to assault that girl as I had never heard someone scream like that on a ride. Unfortunately her screaming will be surpassed later on the trip. :scared1:

Here is our redneck photo of the ride. The only reason I took it was I had to remember that screamer. She is next to me on the back row. I will have to say she couldn’t have been too frightened as I now notice she had her hands in the air. :confused3 I would say that she was maybe trying to annoy me but she apologized multiple times after we got off.

dsc018362.jpg

DSC01837.jpg

After TOT I have my one and only spotting of Pop Warner kids being annoying. A group of cheerleaders were chanting. It really wasn’t even that annoying. I will just have to say it was the only time we heard a peep from those kids on our trip. They were often seen (they all had t-shirts) but not heard. I certainly wouldn’t let Pop Warner deter you from going to Disney the second week in Dec. The only thing I can say is that I do think they made the parks slightly more crowded but the crowds were still better than August.:thumbsup2

We head out of the park.

Picture of HS tree lighted up.

dsc01838.jpg

We have plenty of time before our 7:45 adr at Kouzzina so we want to take the boat despite the fact there is a huge line. We were thinking that maybe if we are lucky we will get on the third boat. Well, those boats hold more than they look. We end up on the second boat although it is just as packed as any bus has ever been. The boat operator tells us that if you are going to The Boardwalk you can get off at Swan/Dolphin and just walk. DH has a work conference there in Aug so we decide this will be our chance to get a closer look in case he gets to go.

It is a very short walk to The Boardwalk and we are early so we head into the resort to check out the Christmas decorations.

DSC01840.jpg

DSC01841.jpg

We then check in at Kouzzina. It is still before our ADR so we are told that there will be a wait. We walk around The Boardwalk area for a bit. I wanted to check out Boardwalk Bakery as I had heard so many wonderful things about it. I must say, maybe because it was later at night but I wasn't impressed. I expected wall to wall pastries but it looked very small.

Guy entertaining the crowds at The Boardwalk.

Coming next: My Kouzzina review. I am going to dedicate a whole post on this because this place gets such mixed reviews. I also think I will copy and paste it and put it on the Dining Review forum. Will I love or hate Kouzzina????

Can't wait to hear what you thought of Kouzzina. We wanted to eat there on our holiday trip, but we had a lot of picky eaters along for the ride, and the menu didn't appeal to them. If I can squeeze in a quick weekend trip before our annual passes expire, Kouzzina will definitely be on the agenda.

HI I just found your TR. I am very intersested in your crowd levels & wait times this is about the time we are going this year.

I clicked on the image and it took my through to your photobucket account :thumbsup2 - although, I think the first time I watched it, it just auto-played from your post?!

I thought it would take you to my photobucket account. Did it view ok? When I tried to watch the Osborne Lights video it kept stopping. I am so darned proud of myself for becoming so tech. :rotfl:

I hope to post Kouzzina tonight. The high today is about 5 degrees where I am at. I cleaned most of the house yesterday so plan on doing a lot of :surfweb: today.

HI I just found your TR. I am very intersested in your crowd levels & wait times this is about the time we are going this year.

Thanks for joining. I think Pop Warner made things a little more crowded. One of the things I noticed that there were a lot of preschool aged children and adult's only so the larger attractions such as sm, ee and TOT had shorter waits than they would normally. I personally love those rides so it worked for me. I will try to remember to mention wait times as I go along. Enjoy your planning. That is part of the fun for me. :)

I had gone back and forth on whether or not we should eat at Kouzzina. I had read a lot of mixed reviews on DIS after all. I am a big fan of Food Network and at first had been very excited that I would have an opportunity to eat at one of the Iron Chef’s restaurants. I love the dining review forum so I start to read a lot of reviews on DIS. The majority of the reviews I read were negative but there were also some that were positive. In the end I decided to keep the adr, thinking that if something happens, such as we miss our arrival night adr, I would cancel Kouzzina and maybe we could do signature dining one night. Since we got that earlier flight we had no problems with our arrival night adr so we ended up just keeping all our adr’s as they were. Boy am I glad we did!

We had a about a 20 min wait for our adr. I know we checked in early and I think we ended up being seated just before our adr time. We had a great view of the open kitchen from our table.

DSC01846.jpg

It did take a bit longer than I would have liked to meet our waiter. I think his name was Charlie. I already knew exactly what I wanted but as I saw plates go by I started to question myself. The Traditional Whole Fish Pan-roasted was looking mighty good as it went by. In the end I decide to stick with my original choice, The Fisherman’s Stew. Charlie tells me it is the best thing there. Will he be right???

I start off with the Sangria Kouzzina. It was a nice and light cocktail. I wish I had some now.

DSC01844.jpg

Our bread and butter is delivered. Charlie was good about telling us what kind of salt is on the butter. I can’t remember what he said though.

DSC01848.jpg

Bread and butter was very tasty. It was fresh and had an earthy flavor. It would have been nice to be served warm but it was still very good.

It took a while to get our entrees. I had lots of time to take photos of chefs while in the kitchen. My ultimate goal was to get a picture of flames in the air. It took a while but I finally succeeded.

dsc018532.jpg

That is our waiter, Charlie, on the left.

The chefs’ notice me taking pictures and pose for me. I know the one on the left is the head chef because I read about her on one of the blogs on DIS or maybe it was a podcast. I can’t remember.

dsc018502.jpg

At some point Charlie stops by to check on us. He says that he hasn’t been around because he was searching for some cream for the next table. They were out and he had to go somewhere else to get some more. Possibly a farm and he had to milk the cow himself.:confused3 It really was getting to take some time for our food but we weren’t in a hurry so it didn’t bother me too much.

Finally our food arrives.

DH had the Oak-fired Pork T-bone (with Farmhouse Greens and Citrus-Fennel Marmalade). He doesn’t get as excited about food as I do but he said it was good.

DSC01851.jpg

Here is my Fisherman’s Stew. (Scallops, seasonal Fish, Shellfish, Fennel, Grilled Bread, and Ouzo Butter)

DSC01852.jpg

This was so freakin’ good. :cloud9: The spice was just right although I can see how it would not be for everyone. It spices were not hot but there was a lot of flavor. On one of the reviews I read someone stated that this was too much like a soup as the sauce was too thin. I totally disagree. The sauce was quite thick. The bread on the side was perfect for getting every last drop of the sauce. I strongly recommend Kouzzina based on this dish alone.

Charlie came around for our dessert order. I was very full but we were on DDP so I really had no other choice but to get dessert. Poor poor me, right?

I also already knew what I wanted based on a DIS review. Someone had stated in their review that the only good part of their meal was the Galaktoboureko (Semolina Custard in Baked Phyllo Dough and Vanilla-Praline Gelato) Charlie sealed the order when he advised me that everyone’s favorite was the item no one could pronounce.
DSC01856.jpg

This was the one part of the meal that was disappointing. I found it to be very bland. Although I liked the gelato. I was very full from my stew so it didn’t bother me too much.

DH had the Chocolate Budino Cake (Warm Molten Chocolate with Whipped Sweet Cream). DH let me have a taste and I must say he got the better dessert.

DSC01854.jpg

We also got a pressed pot of decaf coffee with our dessert which we enjoyed. Unfortunately it arrived halfway into our dessert. Thankfully Charlie didn’t have to milk any cows for my cream.

I give Kouzzina :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 out of 4. It was by far the best meal of our trip. The only down side was the dessert which may not have been for me as others seem to like it. The service was a little slow but our server was at least pleasant. The slow service actually made for a nice relaxing meal after being in the park all day. I really hope that I some day have a chance to go back and get some of that fisherman’s stew. :cloud9:

Now that I am all excited about food I am going to get snug under the covers and watch Julia Julia.

Glad you liked Kouzzina too! .. I had read very mixed reviews of it too but we love Greek food and definitely wanted to try it while we were staying at the BW!

Was that salt on the butter Hawaiian?! ... we had it at Kouzzina & also at The Wave - it was black salt which I thought was really unusual, probably why I remembered it!

I had a TR from our June/July trip and one from our Oct trip. I posted lots of pics and was trying to give lots of info. Basically neither of them got finished, lack of readers, and I took the links out of my sig. I don't think I am an entertaining writer, just giving opinions and facts, so from now on I think I will just write reviews on the review sections of the resorts and restaurants. I will be a POP in Feb too for a a couple nights, then transferring over to AKV. We didn't have enough points for the entire stay and I had to take advantage of a situation, where I HAVE to go to FL the weekend after anyway. I'm going with a friend/coworker of mine who has never been and I'm way excited!
Can't wait to read more of your TR!

I love reading TR's written by fellow "foodies":goodvibes Thanks for posting!
Kouzinna is on my "must do" list next trip.

I am so glad you are posting. After writing a tr I decided that whenever I read someone elses I would always post.

Have fun on your trip. Feel free to write about it it briefly on my tr if this is still up and going when you get back. I hope your friend/coworker enjoys Disney as much as you do. That is one of my fears about going with others, they won't be as excited as me.

I did this in July with DF's family - we had two whole weeks at the Yacht Club, and no one (apart from DF & I!) seemed to enjoy themselves at all! :confused3 .. it got me really upset at times, I spent soo long planning the vacation & adding extra magic for everyone.. but I guess some people just don't 'get it', right?!

I did do a TR - it was the picture in my signature of the YC - it might have been removed now as I completed it!

Looking forward to more dining reviews!

I found the tr. I started to read it but have only made it through half the first day.

It has been a busy week. I hope to post an update on friday (my day off :cool1: ) although that is probably going to be busy too. :sad2:

I left at my were Kouzzina. What can I say other than we went back to POP after that. We had to take a bus from Boardwalk to DTD. We did have to wait for a bit for a bus at Boardwalk but not too bad. Luckily bus mojo continued at DTD and there was a POP bus just pulling out when we got there but another was right behind. I think it took almost 45 minutes to get home. Remember this for later in the tr.

We went straight to bed as we were going go to AM EMH it MK the next day.
We got up with no problems. We were at the bus stop by 7:15 with a bus ready to transport. We arrived at MK in plenty of time for the opening show. I must say it is soooo much easier when you don't have kids to contend with.

Here we wait.

DSC01858.jpg

DSC01860.jpg

Then the one of my favorite things at MK started…..The Opening Show.

I took a video of the first part and then switched to photos.

DSC01867.jpg

This was only my second time seeing the show and it was just as wonderful as the first. DH couldn’t believe that the mom of the Family of the Day started to cry. I told him that I would probably cry too. I wonder if the mom is somewhere out here on DIS. I just remember that their last name started with an “S” and they were from New York. The opening show will defiantly be a must do for every trip to Disney.

While we had been waiting on the show we rec'd a text from DS13 wanting to know what we were doing. I took this photo from my cell to send to him. I know I a terrible mother for rubbing it in. :rolleyes1

att000192.jpg

We of course head directly to Space Mountain. SM is my all time favorite ride. I could ride it over and over again. The plan is to get fp and ride. Well it wasn’t to be as it was having technical problems. We were able to get the fp though.
DSC01868.jpg

I know it is a terrible picture and I probably shouldn't have bothered posting but at least now you know the effort was there. I think the return time was around 11:15.

We then go with plan b which is to ride Buzz. It took us about 3 minutes to walk through the queue. I had to hold up the line to take pictures.

DSC01869.jpg

DSC01870.jpg

Of course DH beat me by an incredibly large amount. :sad2:

DSC01873.jpg

Our next stop is the tea cups which was a walk on. Who else riding but Alice! Those sure were lucky girls.

DSC01876.jpg

I was very excited just to be riding with DH. Normally we divide up on rides like this but this time we got to ride together.

DSC01877.jpg

The reason riding is good is that DH can spin really fast. All I can think about while he is spinning me is “Oh, so this is why MK is dry”. It was so much fun riding with him.

Next stop is Small World (also a walk on). To be perfectly honest this isn’t my favorite attraction but it is something that you MUST do if you are at Disney. It is classic. I must say I go a little crazy with the camera. Here are just a few of the pictures. By the way this isn’t the end of me going crazy with the camera on a ride at MK.

Nice update :goodvibes ... I've been looking in the background of all your photos for us.. we had such similar mornings!! :rotfl: I remember the CM in the white & red tall hat at the entrance, we were stood a bit more to the left of the station for the opening ceremony than you guys.

Looking forward to more!

I've enjoyed reading your trip. It seems like you were able to get a lot done, even though it sounds like you guys went at a leisurely pace.

Hi Nancy, I followed the TR link in your signature and I'm subscribing. It's too funny about the auction connection. :)

Your trip sounds great so far, it's amazing how much more you appreciate the adult's only trip after you take the kids. ;)

Yes, I looked for you too. I didn't see you but we had to be near each other for a large part of the day.

I've enjoyed reading your trip. It seems like you were able to get a lot done, even though it sounds like you guys went at a leisurely pace.

We did get a lot done. I think it will probably take two more post to finish MK and we only spent a half day there. I love AM EMH. It was so nice to not have the pressure of doing everything since we did everything at MK in 2008. At the time we didn't imagine that we would be back so soon. I had a very short list of must do's at MK and we got all of those things done and then some along with some time to relax.
