my wedding

Hi! I posted this on the wedding board as well, but I am hoping that some of you on the community board will help cheer me up! As of right now, I am EXTREMELY nervous about my Disney wedding. I do not like my sales manager much. She seems to forget everything I tell her and is NOT prompt at returning phone calls or emails. She drops the ball a lot and she never seems to want to give me any info without me prying it out of her. She was NOT helpful when it came time to choose a reception site. I do most of the work on my own. Thank goodness I'm quite familiar with WDW, or else I'd be seriously lost. She also never told me about food tasting or much of any other options, if there are any. When I asked her about options, she tells me to look at the pamphlet that was sent out with the wedding video! FYI, she is not a very common SM to have, apparently. On yourfairytale.com NO ONE has had her for a SM. Now, I have an event manager, again NO ONE listed on the site has had him either!! I'm soooooo nervous that my wedding will be a disaster like my planning has been so far! Has anyone ever requested a new coordinator before? I mean, what if I don't like my event manager either?!!! Please help calm my nerves and reassure that it will be ok. I'm SERIOUSLY FREAKING OUT!!!

Don't freak out, this is your wedding. If you don't like the planner get someone you do like. This is too important to be messed up. Fire her.

Of course this is just mho. lol

Disnee Dad Says..................................You are woman hear you roar!
If you are gonna spend millions on a WDW wedding, the sales flacky and event dude, need to be in tune with what you need. If it's not too late, go to the top and replace them now.

Let them know politely that this is a once in a lifetime thing, a Cinderella event, and you are feeling like the pumpkin.

You understand that people don't always mesh well, but you want a sales hack and an event grunt who truely want your dreams to come true!

You are in charge, unless it's next week! lol

You might mention in the course of conversation that Universal/A Cruise/ Hawaii/ Europe/ California is starting to look much better, if you are willing to back up that statement.

Lastly, to put it in perspective. Marriage is to the man, not the event. We had a nice simple wedding, but if the choice was, no wedding, unless you stand in a bed of rattlesnakes in shorts, I would stand in that bed. And I wouldn't need pictures, or balloons, or cake, all I would need is DW tinky mom.

I have to agree, I would go for a new assistant. This is one of the most important events of your life and you shouldn't have to stress this bad. I would call a manager and explain how you feel and see if they can hook you up with someone else.

I know ead79 (Elisabeth) is planning a Disney wedding for later this year, if she doesn't see this post and respond you may want to PM her.

Good luck and congratulations on your wedding.

I would call the higher ups. The important thing is when you call, instead of just saying you are having problems try to list specific events that you think show the problems. Management will respond to that much better then just a generalized statement.

I have to say that I agree with WebmasterAlex  and Serena. If you don't like her and are having problems with her I would call and ask to be placed with someone else. I wouldn't say that you don't like her, but I would explain the problems you are having with her.

OK guys. I hear you loud and clear. Fortunately, I won't be dealing with my sales manager much anymore. I will be dealing more with my event manager. Now, to clarify, I have not spoken with him yet. I am going to WDW next week to meet hith him. I'm just nervous about it. I hope he's wonderful, but I am skeptical!

Peanut,

My sister is going through the same thing with her WDW wedding. Her contact person is "less than helpful". I will let her know about you post - maybe you two should PM each other. She posts under the name LisaLovesDisney.

I'm so sorry to hear that your event manager has not been very responsive. The good news is, your event manager is really the person who will provide you with all the details. I think some of the sales managers are hesitant to provide lots of details for some reason. I felt much more confident in Disney after my planning session and after receiving my itemized estimated budget (which I just received this week). I now know they will do a terrific job and they will pay attention to every detail to make sure the day goes well. I think that you should give your event manager a clean slate. If you like him, then don't worry that a bunch of people haven't had him before. It's my understanding that all the event managers go through rigorous training and have to assist event managers before they can become one. If for some reason you don't like your event manager either, then I would contact Jeff Ralls (head of the Fairy Tale Weddings Department) and ask for a new event manager. Disney wants you to communicate well with your event manager, so I'm sure they would want to reassign you if you're not happy. Are you a member of the disneymooners yahoo group? If not, PM me and I'll tell you how to join. It's a terrific group of other Disney brides, and it can be a huge help!

Elisabeth
