My wedding is just an excuse to have a Disneymoon-Aug '13 PTR (NEW!! 9/14)

I'm sorry about your loss. I read one of your trip reports with your man and it was so cute <3 Excited to read more :)

Real life update 2

Thank you friends for all your thoughts.

I'll be leaving on a flight to Hong Kong tomorrow for the funeral.

@Skybabyy: If you read my Lesson Learned TR, I recently re-posted all the pics that had broken links, so you can go back and look at the pics.

I will see you all when I return. :grouphug:

Oh awesome!! That is the one I was reading through haha You seem to have so much fun at Disney and writing the reports, I love the enthusiasm and it really is catching! :)

Yes! We are planning a trip at the end of this June with a two day stop at Universal Studios and a week at Bay Lake Tower! We are all very excited, and I'M very excited to read more about your upcoming trip!

16. My ADRs are booked!

I'M STILL HERE!! Sorry if I made any of you worry. I'm back and am in full planning mode. The wedding is in less than 5 months, Save the Dates have been sent and ADRs are booked!

Aug 13 T-Rex-1pm

Aug 15 Akershus 3pm

Aug 15 La Hacienda de San Angel-8pm

Aug 16 Whispering Canyon Cafe-2:05pm

Aug 17 Garden View Tea Room -2:25pm

Aug 18 The Wave-7:05pm

Aug 19 50’s Primetime -8:15pm

Aug 21 Via Napoli-7:45pm

Aug 22 Ohana-6:25pm

Each ADR has a different number of people attending. The only ADR that is booked for all 10 of us is La Hacienda so we can all get a good seat for Illuminations.

Aug 18 is Andrew birthday and I was hoping to get an ADR at Cali Grill but it's closed for refurb until September! My TA then made an ADR at Narcoosee's because she knew this was a special dinner for the two of us. I looked over their menu and am not sure if Andrew will really enjoy it....so I made an ADR for The Wave because he seemed interested in it when we were at CR on our last trip....Wow, talk about a long sentence.

I've been mulling it over in my head and am not that sure about The Wave anymore...I wanted to eat at one of the MK resorts so we can easily get back to MK where the rest of our group will be. Any suggestions?

I'm really excited about the Afternoon tea! It'll be just for us girls.

Oh, I don't think I've announced this yet. 3 people have dropped from our group. They were supposed to share a room together and so when 1 didn't think she could make it, the other 2 followed. So the count has gone back down to 10 of us. Which won't be too bad. Less people to coordinate!

I'm super excited about free wi-fi in the parks and resorts! My bridesman was just there and he said the speed was really good and he never had any problems connecting. I'm still a bit intimidated about FP+ though....when will they reveal more info??? I don't want to have to reserve FP+ passes for 10 people.....

My bridesman also picked up about 13 Mickey antenna toppers for our centrepieces! I'll put up a pic as soon as I create a mock one.

If you guys would like, you can check out our wedding website at www.mywedding.com/andrewandyuki

17. Flights are booked! And other updates

I finally booked my flights last night for our whole group. If only I had pulled the trigger earlier, we would've been able to save $200 each. That's $1600 saved! The only good side is that we'll be leaving from Toronto instead of Buffalo, so we can get to Orlando earlier. I'll know better for next time.

My wedding dress has arrived! Maybe I'll put up a picture of it later... It's exactly the shade of red I wanted. I'm very happy with it. The dress came in under $300 CAD!

I'm so excited for this trip. I keep daydreaming about being there and just....being there, you know? POP Century is totally my happy place. When I think of being there, I just go into this daze.

Planning for this trip feels so different from my first trip. I mean, I'm re-reading my old posts and I did SO MUCH RESEARCH. But now, I'm going as someone who knows almost everything I need to know, haha. Is this what a veteran feels like? Am I veteran yet??? No...this is only my 3rd trip :rolleyes1

When I was first thinking of this trip, I didn't even consider planning my days out and just kind of going with the flow. That was before our group blossomed into 10 with half of them going to Disney for the first time. Also, my 2 best friends are only joining us for the 1st week, so I need to make sure we visit all 4 parks in that 1st week. I have a tentative itinerary that I based my ADRs on. I think that's for another post.

I'm not sure what to expect with POR. This is our first moderate and it was only considered because it's a Disneymoon. Am I going to have to walk more? How are the busses going to work? Do I need to stop asking and just do more research? (yes) I know there are 2 things I cannot miss. Yeehaw Bob, and beignets.

We also bought the tea we're giving away as favors. We actually bought a little too much....so if you would like a tin of Jasmine Dragon Phoenix Pearl tea, let me know! I'd be happy to send you some. We're trying not to have too much "stuff" left over from the wedding.

In exactly 4 months, I'm going to be walking around Epcot, drinking samples at Club Cool and video taping my cousin's first reaction to tasting Beverly.

Citricos at the GF or Kona Cafe at the Poly. Which would depend on your budget (Citricos is a Signature) and food preferences. You should be able to get ADRs at either.

-do a spa treatment. These are REALLY PRICEY but I really want to try a scrub or a wrap and I know I won't be doing it at home.

-sneak onto the Helipad at night to see the sky covered in stars.

-sunbathe on the top deck

On my last cruise with Andrew and 2 of my friends, we played a different board game before we went to sleep every night. I can't wait to continue that with my siblings and maybe even the people I'll be meeting at the Meet & Mingle from Cruisecritic.com!

My cruise is coming up in 10 days, I'm so excited!!!!

Andrew is very excited too. We're actually doing a no junk food/alcohol challenge 25 days before the cruise, so it'll feel SOOO good when it ends right before our trip!

I took a look at both their menus and they both look really nice, especially Kona Cafe!

The more I think of it, the more I feel like sticking to The Wave. I mean, he said he wanted to eat there the last time we passed it, and it IS going to be for his birthday. Makes sense, right?

Thanks for your suggestions!

Another possibility for his birthday would be Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge (a short boat ride from the MK), but since it is his birthday you can just leave it up to him to pick which one appeals to him the most.

Great plans so far, Yuki. Your cruise plans sound awesome. You have to do a little trip report!

And just to add to your ADR question, we have always enjoyed The Wave very much. A little off the beaten path foodwise too!

A boat ride to WL sounds really nice. And we do love their beach. I'll bring it up with him.

Yes, I'll definitely do a TR!

Well if Karin's endorsing The Wave, it's got to be good! It's really too bad Cali Grill will be close when we're there. I've wanted to eat there ever since you first mentioned it in your TRs!

18. 3 more months!

I've returned from my cruise and still have some sea legs but it's getting much better! If you go to my 1st page, I put in some placeholders for my Freedom TR. You'll see there's a surprise WDW day in there. Stay tuned for more!

So my invitations have been sent and we have SO MANY MORE INVITATIONS. If you would like one, send me a PM and I'll be happy to send you one so you can take a look at it. It's all personally designed by my best friend and written by Andrew and I.

We also plan to send invitations to Mickey and Minnie and to Cinderella. I hear they send you very nice response cards.

I am SO PSYCHED that we're finally in our double digits!!! Less than 100 days until Disney!!!!

I have decided on doing some laundry during my 2-week stay to keep my packing light. This is totally new to me. Does anybody have suggestions for how to do this and what I should pack for it?

Since I finally have benefits at work, I ordered a pair of custom in-soles. The true test of them was during my cruise and they worked beautifully! I didn't suffer from any crippling foot pain all week. In-soles paired up with Croc's sandals and my feet will stay happy.

I also used my benefits to order some contacts to wear on vacation. I remember when I tried them for the first time to prepare for my 2010 trip. I'm so much more comfortable with them right now. I'm also looking forward to wearing my astigmatism lenses. Disney at night was quite blurry to me last time.

OH MY GOSH, I have to start packing for China! :faint:

PS. I booked an ADR for Cape May Cafe's clambake because we just can't get enough of those crab legs.

Freedom Day 1

Travel

This was my very first time flying out of the Buffalo Airport. I had wanted to do this ever since I joined the DIS and learned about how much money I could save.

Our flight was at 4:45pm, but my mom made us wake up at 6am in the morning so she could do some Outlet mall shopping when we got past the border.

The drive was real easy and the weather was REALLY nice. We had no trouble getting across the border. In fact, when the officer was questioning my brother in his car, he just pointed to our car (ahead of him) and said he was with us. It was also kind of funny when the officer asked for the relationship between me and my sister. We get this ALL THE TIME.

We made it to the mall right as it opened at 10am (just as planned!). We left my parents and grandpa to shop while we drove over to the nearby Hobby Lobby. I LOVE that store. It's like.....much better than Michaels. The home decor in that store is AWESOME. I could spend hours and hundreds of dollars there. The great thing about having our car was that we could leave our purchases in there while we were on the cruise! So Andrew and I picked up some stuff for the wedding and I bought my tiara!

My parents and grandpa had lunch in the mall food court and I brought my siblings to Olive Garden. We see so many commercials because we're so close to the border that we HAD to have lunch there. The food was not bad. We ordered way too much food though...we packed up some to go but never got to finishing it.

The Buffalo aiport was pretty easy to get to. We were lucky enough to find parking spots close to each other and the aiport shuttle. Everything is just made so convenient and affordable! Only $50/week and $10/day. I can't wait to do this again. We plan on saving more money by taking the Megabus. By flying out of this aiport instead of Toronto, we saved $200 each. That's $1700 in total! Enough to bring an extra person with us.

This was also my first time doing online check-in. We loved that we didn't need our passports!!! Everything was super easy. Why can't it be that simple up here??? I only used my Driver's license for identification. Which worked out perfectly because my name change was only on that ID and not my passport. No need to explain anything!

I arranged for Happy Limo to pick us up and drop us off at the Residence Inn where we would spend the night. The driver was right there at the luggage carousels waiting for us. We only checked 2 suitcases so it wasn't long until we were on our way to Cape Canaveral!

My parents and grandpa were really impressed with how I organized everything. It was so nice to be appreciated for my planning.

We checked-in around 8pm and walked about a block to an Italian restaurant for dinner. Again, we ordered way too much. We constantly underestimated those American portions!

Since we started our day so early, most of us were in bed by 11pm. It's been a great travel day and we were so excited to get on the ship!
