The official background of Stephenie’s 21st Birthday Extravaganza – 2006

Hey guys, as some of you know, I plan a HUGE trip to Disney for all my friends every year for my birthday. I thought that some of you might be interested in seeing my planning, and theming etc… 11 people are going this year...

I finally finished everyone’s info packet today. Just like when you book with Disney, I send everyone a planning DVD, schedules, information and how much the trip is costing them.

The planning DVD was basically a pictoral and video outline of what we’re doing. ( I make it in a DVD editing program, its very cool, and professional.)
They also get a ‘Listen to the Magic’ CD, with Disney music on it to listen to, on the way to Disney. It has park music on it and is personalized for each person.
Also a money outline of how much this will cost. For 2006, 11 people are going. It will cost each person 100 dollars to go. That includes food, park hopper, hotel and souvineers.

So, here are the tentative plans, as of 2/10/06

Friday – I’m arriving at Downtown Disney at Noon to get Mickey Mouse Ears for everyone and have them embroidered. And to do a little light shopping. Then I will check into our hotel. At 4:00pm I decided to not stay on property this year. It would just cost way too much. Especially since we’re going during peak season. 11 people would be impossible to fit in Disney Resorts for under $175 a person, plus it would cramped and awkward. So we are staying at the Regal Palms Resort in a 4 bedroom townhouse. (you can google regal palms for pics) Upon arrival I will start cooking our ‘Pirate Feast’ and put on the ‘pirate music’ CD’s I have created, for the ultimate in Pirate Ambience background music. As well as decorating the dining room and everyones bedrooms for a birthday/pirate ambience. On each guests bed there will also be a goody bag full of pirate garb for the evening. (eye patches, swords, tattoos, earings, hats, etc.) For dinner we are having Barb-q chicken, rice, corn and biscuits. A very piratey meal if I do say so myself. Everyone should be arriving around 4-6. Dinner is at 6:30. We will leave for DTD at 7:30. At downtown Disney, I will play a wooden flute, and we’ll walk around taking pictures and pillaging downtown Disney. Back to the hotel for a little Rum punch, and rum cake, and then off to bed!

Saturday – The Parks! All four parks in one day.

Ok. We all know you HAVE to plan. So here is the plan – Everyone puts on there Mickey Mouse Club shirts with their names on the front. And wears their personalized Mickey Mouse ears. I wear my birthday crown and my birthday shirt. I have to wake up at 5:30 to prep breakfast to eat at 6:00am. Wakeup is at 6, everyone will enjoy the ambience music Ive created for the background of the breakfast. After breakfast we get dressed and go!

Tentative, times will change, we’ll see characters and other things will influence the time….
8AM - Start out the day at AK. Ride Everest, safari and see Lion king show. Take pictures, ride anything else with a small line. MAX time for AK – 4 hours. Head to MGM
MGM – Get a fast pass for TOT or RNRcoaster, whichever is longest, ride the other, See Voyage of the little mermaid, ride Star tours, take pics, ride whatever else has a short line and head to Epcot
Epcot – Single rider lines for Soarin, Test Track and Mission Space. Take a picture (get me a drink) in each country. Take more pics, ride whatever else we can. Take monorail to Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom – Do the Mtns and Philharmagic as well as anything else we can before 8pm. 8pm character dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. After that, ride what we can. Catch Spectro, catch Wishes, shop, and watch the goodnight kiss. This should put us at 1am.
Go back to the hotel and DIE! Lol.

Sunday – sleep in. Swim at Resort. Pack up and go.

So that’s the plan. Whoo. I have a LOT to do before April 21st. I’m SO excited!!!!!!

All that for $100/pp?! Do you have room for a 12th! I'd be happy to sleep in the tub--but I would still want my bag of loot! pirate:

Sounds like it will be awesome! Hope you have a great time.

The money part is my fav. I get 3 free tix from a friend who works for Disney. I have an AP and one other person who is going as an AP. We ALL split the cost of admission whether you have an AP, a free ticket or are paying.

the hotel is $105 a night. 2 nights, split between 11 people is awesome.

Dinner is full price, 30 bucks a person. And then it leaves a little bit of money for everyone to chip in for all the food and all the souvineers you get. (tshirt, hat, pirate stuff, and a few other things...)

And ANYONE is welcome to go. lol. Ive always said the more the merrier (and cheaper) Usually my regulars are the only ones to go. This year, all my close friends said yes. We're gonna be quite a sight in the parks!!!

Steph, can you tell me about the "goodnight kiss"? I'm going to be alone at the MK next week and I really want to see some things that I've never been able to see with the kids!!

Thanks

- I forgot to say, this sounds awesome!! I would love to do something like this one day! I hope you have a wonderful birthday!

Sure.

Every evening, when the Magic Kingdom closes, the park stays open generally an hour after the 'official' closing time.

Generally at about a half hour after closing (sometimes its 15 min., sometimes its 45 min.) Loud music (wish upon a star) will start playing through the speakers on Main Street. (you can hear it plain as day if you're shopping at the Emporeum) Anyway, the moment you hear the music, rush out to Main Street and stand in front of the castle.

Basically the good-night kiss is a magical show of lights and colors on the castle, mixed with instrumental Disney music and an announcer, as well as mickey mouse, thanking you for coming to the park that day. It includes a few 'walt disney speeches' and in my opinion is truly one of the most magical things Disney has to offer. mostly because every time I've seen it, ive been on main street pracitcaly alone. So its like they did it just for me.

Make sure you're not in MK on an extra magic hours evening, or it wont show until the park closes very late (unless you are staying on site, and can go to xtra magic hours.)

Have fun!!!! Hope you enjoy! let me know if you saw it, and what you thought!

Thanks! I will make sure to do that every night that I am in the MK!

I'll report once I get back!

I just celebrated my 21st birthday in Disney as well! You're going to have an AMAZING time!!!! We did the drinking around Epcot too. Hit up the margarita stand in Mexico and remember to toast your celebration with some champagne in France.

Have a wonderful *21st* birthday! :)

Thanks for this tip! I stayed around one night a couple of weeks ago and it was so cool! I can't wait to do it again next time when the kids are with me! The icecream shop on the end was still open so, I just got an icecream cone and sat on mainstreet and waited!
