So I'm a planner like all of you. We were all up at 7am to be at rope drop by 8:30 for a 9am opening. I already knew that Toontown was gone, BTMR was down, ice cream parlor down, steamboat down.........

So arrived at around 8:15 to parking. It already looked busy and this isn't resort guests. Purchased 1 day tickets (this is our only park this year) so choked on the $400 admission but happily paid whatever to be at my happiest place on earth.

The plaza at front gate was packed. And it was HOT and HUMID. The welcome show starts and the gates open and the mad dash begins. I cannot figure out where these idiots think they need to run to.....OPEN ALL DAY FOLKS.

So our strategy was to get DDs on Space Mountian. We arrive to a huge line at fast passes. Ride is down and return time is 10am. So we all decide splash mountain is the only other thrill ride so let's go there. Ride is DOWN. Think think.........let's make our way to Pirates.............go ahead and guess.........DOWN. So we begin to meander our way back to Space Mountain. Grabbed Jungle Cruise fastpasses as it was the beginning of our space Mountian time so we qualified for new ones. Space mountain was still down. By now park was at around 20 minute ride lines. At 10am! Peter Pan was 45 minutes.

We rode the tea cups, Snow White, Small World (my choice and they wanted to kill me), and haunted mansion (we waited the 15 minutes for this although posting said it was a 25 minute wait). So by 11am kids are hungry. We grab dinner at the Tomorrowland Terrace.

We saw Space Mountain open and figured we'd give it a try. The fastpasses line was back to the people mover:scared1: but the cast member said it was only a 30 minute wait. I had him sign my Jungle Cruise FPs in case we missed the time because of this line (which occurred because ride had been down and all FPs were being honored since 9am). Kids waited in line and got inside the building. And then they shut the ride down.....but kids didn't come out. They said they would cycle those inside through and then do the work. Evidently only 1 track with 2 cars was running. My kids emerged at about 1:30-100 minutes after they had joined the line and most of that time inside the building.

I neglect to tell you that the monorail was also not working between 11am and 6pm so all guests would have to use the ferry and that we had to leave the park by 4pm as we had dinner arrangements that couldn't be changed.

So off to use Jungle Cruise passes. They accepted the signature and allowed us on. Took about 15 minutes to get on. Then off to Pirates-now open but a 40 minute wait. We knew we'd have to leave afterwards as it was already close to 3pm.

So that was our day. The day I had longed for was spent running all over the park trying to ride things that were closed. We missed so many favourites. So I stopped at guest services. I did not want to cause a scene in front of DDs but I said the the cast member "let me tell you about my day"..........and without me even asking, they asked what day I'd like to return during this vacation.

Disney did the right thing.....while not their fault, I spent a lot of money on a day that was not the value it should have been. I can tell you the park was jammed packed and it was hard to move around. There were massive groups of spring breakers, cheerleaders, Class of ???. With some friendly conversation in lines we determined that not only did we have the usual Texas and Florida spring break, but this year New York and Arizona changed their date by one week earlier so they are there too!

Well, I'll be doing it all again Tuesday so let's hope they figure out the issues and we can move successfully around the park.

Hope none of you have similar experiences!

I am so sorry to hear about your day in the MK. Bad enough when the spring break crowds make for such long lines, but to have experienced that many rides down must have been frustrating.

But I also wanted to comment about your tickets. At the beginning of your post you mentioned that you had purchased one day tickets. But at the end of your post you said you were returning on Tuesday. Why didn't you buy 2 day tickets? That would have saved a lot of money!

I think Disney comped them tickets for the Tuesday. They were only intending on visiting one day.

OP, that must have been a very sad and frustrating day.

OK! Didn't catch that part even after reading the OP a couple of times. Thanks. Now I understand what she meant by Disney did the right thing..:goodvibes

Yes, sorry.......we had no intentions of returning but they offered any day for the remainder of our vacation to return complimentary. Certainly I felt like this should have been their reaction, but wasn't sure how much I'd have to scream for it - I hate confrontation and wasn't about to ruin my holiday or have the kids see me get nasty at my favourites place in the whole world.

Not sure how I feel about returning but the kids are excited and hopefully we can stay later and ride what we missed.

Why not try another park on tuesday.

If you got to do 'most' of what you wanted the other day, tuesday could be a true bonus day and you could get 2 parks for the price of one.

That would have been my choice for sure but it wasn't offered. I wasn't given passes but rather a file number and I have to go to guest services and claim my passes so I figure we might as well stay. They even tried to tell me the pass was only good from 9am until 4 pm but quite certain if we stay until 6 or 7 they won't find us and evict us! After all, that does guarantee them 5 more meals for dinner and a little time for shopping!

When it comes to customer service, NO ONE does it better than Disney. It was nice to comp you tickets. When you go to customer service, all you can do is ask if you can visit a different park. Chances are no, but it never hurts to politely ask. Have a fun day regardless.

Wow, that's crazy :scared1: So many rides down, and the crowds, which is why I'll never go during Spring Break or holidays.
We go in low season, and there's never more then a 20 min wait except for maybe TSMM!

We'll be at WDW the week of March 25, after our cruise. Getting nervous with the crowd reports. :scared1:

I've read the monorail is down during the day so they can do maintenance work related to the construction of the new Grand Floridian villas, but the monorail will be back to normal after March 17. Hope that's true. Seems kind of silly for it to be down during one of the busiest times of the year.

Good to hear that you get to have a "do-over" at the park. Disney did the right thing. :thumbsup2 Have a great day!

I'm interested in why you had the Jungle Cruise FP signed? Disney will accept the FP up until closing time on the day the ticket was issued. Has this changed?

They are now enforcing the times on the fastpasses very strictly. A person at the entrance to the ride won't let you cue unless the time is within the hour. If the time passed, the ticket is no longer good. I'll be honest, I'm not a fan. It is extremely difficult to gt a fastpassand then try to hang out in that area for an hour until it is time to ride. And then try to be at the next attraction in time to get another fast pass. And believe me folks........this week you needed them. Small Worls had a 35 minute wait at 11am. Fantasyland is a mess with the renovations, difficult to move as it is just too conjested.

But our return day went ok. Kids got on Space Ountain first, the a fastpasses to return.. They did Buzz twice, people mover, splash mountain, philharmagic, peter pan, carousel of progress.......and that took us to 3pm when we left due to crowds and a desire to lay by the pool.

Anyone know when the FP enforcement changed? This creates a major issue for how we have been tackling the parks. It has always been our strategie to be able to queue up Fasspasses as the day moved on then return to the park that evening and ride all of the attractions. It also allowed flexibility in the schedule without having to head back quickly and miss out on something special that might be more important. To be honest I'm now more interested in learning why they decided to enforce it after all these years! This was one of the best ways not be tied to an itinuary. I think this has just ruined my day ;(

Quelle disastre!!!!!!!! How awful, seriously. You are patient. I would have complained RIGHT away. grrrr.

Playgrnd, I'm like you. It was the best way to manage the crowds....collecting fastpasses throughout the day, then going for a nice lunch and having stuff to ride all afternoon when crowds are crazy.

It changed March 4th. I had seen the notification on WDWMagic and posted it here so I knew it was coming. I was curious how and if they would enforce it and they do! I absolutely had to explain why I was using Jungle Cruise fastpasses 1 hour after the window.

I'm guessing eventually Disney will either charge for these or only allow resort guests to get them like Universal does.

As I posted, it makes maneuvering through the park much harder for sure. Plus, by2pm the return fastpasses time for space mountain was 7pm so if you got those, you'd be out of luck to get anything else all day.

No matter how you slice it, going to Disney during peak season is not ideal and not the best way to maximize a Disney vacation.

It changed in the last week or so....March 7th I think.

Did they also change the posting on the FP ticket as to when you qualify for another one? It was always at the start of your FP window, or 2 hours from the time you got your FP, whatever was shortest. So getting a FP at 2PM would still allow you to possibly get another one at 4PM, nothing to do with the 7PM return time for Space?

I don't like this new rule and haven't even experienced it yet. :lmao: But if they want to truly enforce this window of opportunity, it needs to be TWO hours, to accommodate delays at other attractions, dining, etc. I'll be expressing my view to Disney after my friend gets back next week. ;)

It seems like everytime we're at WDW we run into people who think that they can't get another fastpass until they use the one they've got. It is such a common misconception. Granted, there may not be much left available if you are looking for fastpasses in the middle of the day.

I have never gotten a fastpasses that posted a return time other than the start of the current fastpasses I held. In other words, if I have a fastpasses for space mountain for 2:20 - 3:20, the note at the bottom says I can get another fastpass at 2:20. I have never seen one that allowed another fastpass prior to that time. Granted, I would not get a fastpass for a ride 6 hours from the time I requested it so it might be possible.

And I am literally hold 3 of them and they are all this way ( unused from last week).

FYI, the fastpass to see Mickey Mouse allows you to hold another at the same time - so you can have 2 at once ( I think this is to allow a fastpass to the princesses).
