Hi everyone! This is my very first trip report!
We booked our trip through Dreams Unlimited and my agent was Michelle H. (You guys she is just wonderful!)
Cast:
Me Kathy (31) Disney fanatic and obsessive planner
Husband Richard (35) Skeptic about trusting Dreams Unlimited with our travel plans. Loves Disney but hasn't been for 12 years. (Very hard to please by the way)
Daughter Shelley (10) This trip was totally for her birthday celebration (at least that's our grown up excuse when you get "that look" from co-workers) She is wearing an air cast on her leg so we have to rent a wheelchair everyday.
Dates: 10/27/01 through 11/101
Resort: Caribbean Beach, Room 3246, Trinidad North
Package: Discovery Magic
Day 4: Shelley's Birthday at MK
Today is Shelley's 10th birthday! She wanted breakfast at Cinderella's castle more than anything else and thanks to Michelle at DU, we had an 8:45am PS. As soon as we arrived at the MK, we stopped in Town Hall to get Shelley a birthday button. It was wonderful! The CM saw Shelley's Guest of Honor badge and said "Is your name Shelley? Well Shelley, I just took a message from Goofy for you. Would you like to hear it?" She then dialed a phone and put the message on the speaker. It was a message from Goofy telling her Happy Birthday! Shelley was very impressed and she just knew that Goofy new she was coming and that call was just for her! (Mom! Why couldn't we have gotten here sooner?) We hurried over to the castle. When we checked in, the CM saw Shelley's birthday button and went crazy! She ran around the counter and put a handfull of something in Shelley's hand and whispered something in her ear and told her happy birthday. I immediately had to inquire what that was all about. Shelley showed me a handfull of Mickey shaped confetti. The CM had told her to drop a piece of the "magical" confetti on any attraction and she would be able to return there one day. Shelley totally believed that confetti was magical and it was adorable watching her do that over and over for the next 2 days. When we were seated there was more confetti and streamers at our table. Shelley got a birthday cupcake with a candle and a Magical Moments certificate to take home to commemorate the event. Every princess gave her extra attention. The total came to $49.48 (Another Magical Wish used).
We left the castle to ride Splash Mountain. There were no lines and the CM asked us to please ride again! OK...if we REALLY have to (heehee). Shelley dropped her magical confetti just as we were about to go down the really big hill. (See Mom, now I can come back here again!). Then we did Thunder Mtn, Space Mtn, and Buzz Lightyear. Again, the park was so empty that I understand some of the cutbacks. Shelley then wanted to hop over to MGM to try the Tower of Terror and the RNR Roller Coaster. The TOT was awesome but made me really feel ill (Dad too), the RNR Coaster was awesome too but still, we felt ill so we called it quits. Believe it or not, we had done most major attractions at 2 parks and it was only 2pm! As usual, our feet were screaming so we went and visited the pool and hot tub again at CBR. We had a 5:00pm PS at Chef Mickey's for dinner so we took the bus to MK and walked across the street to the Contemporary. We enjoyed dinner and Shelley got a birthday cupcake again. The total was $65.17 (Another Magical Wish used). We then went to EPCOT to ride Test Track again and see Illuminations. Test Track was closed (it broke down) so we just picked out a nice bench near the entrance of World Showcase and sat and relaxed to wait for Illuminations to start. We met the nicest CM from Brazil named Arnaldo that was roping off handicapped viewing areas. He usually works in Guest Services and gives VIP tours so he was so full of great information. We asked him lots of questions and he explained the story behind Illuminations and the story it was trying to tell. If he wouldn't have told us the story I wouldn't have understood it at all. (It is still an amazing show!) We enjoyed Illuminations then went back to CBR for a short swim and hot tub soak. (It does make a difference in your aching feet and arthritic knees). Tomorrow is MGM Studios.
