I just got back from the beach a few days ago and am *thankfully* back at my job. Why, oh Why do I feel this way?
I haven't been on a vacation since, hmmmm, 2000? So, I decide to take the kids to Ocean City, MD this year. Only about a 3 hour drive from the house. I spent all my summers there until I was in my 20s and I really like it. I have other family members going there throughout the summer who enjoy themselves and also some friends who go occasionally. To make it even sweeter, my cousin owns a condo there that he just started renting out. He lived in it for 5 years so I figured it would be nice--at least nicer than the dumps that I had previously rented through the local realtors. WRONG!!!!!
The first thing wrong was the weather. Now don't get me wrong, it was beautiful here last week in the DC area. It was very low 80s, magnificant sunshine. BUT, it was 10 degrees cooler on the shore. Now 75 degrees is great when I'm outside in my yard. It is NOT so great when I'm trying to walk around in a swimsuit!!! The kids did not have any friends with them and they were SOOO bored they drove me nuts. They wanted me in the water with them every minute and if I wasn't they were bugging me to "do something." Now, they are 13 and 9. Can't they leave me alone yet????
While I was gone, my parents were watching my two dogs. They got in a fight (something they never do). My dad ended up needed 5 stitches in his hand and my little Jack Russell needed 4 stitches.
Just about every restaurant used peanut oil, so DS couldn't eat. I ended up having Prego spaghetti in my room two nights.
I was down at the boardwalk one night and somehow got in the middle of a huge altercation between a guy who was mad because his son was 1/8th of an inch too short to get on the roller coaster. He felt *his* son didn't need to quite meet the height requirement and had no problem yelling to everyone the unfairness of it all. Egads. Proceeded to tell me that there was no sign up about the height requirement when he purchased tickets, yet the sign was clearly posted about 3 inches from his FACE as he was SCREAMING.
And then the condo that I paid $1100 for. The bed sagged in the middle, the carpets were stained, the bathroom toilets had not been cleaned in awhile. I was just disgusted. I left the beach two days before my vacation was up.
Now, I'm having my pity party. Please bear with me.
