my umpteenth ? about points (I'll figure it out soon I hope)

ok here goes again. If we have banked points and we make a reservation planning to use those points, what is the penalty, if any, if we have to change or cancel? Your answers are clearer to me than reading my book, thank you....

The penalty for cancelling with banked points is no different than the regular penalty. If you cancel a DVC resort reservation 31 days in advance or more, the points revert to "regular" status. If it's less than 31 days, they go into a holding account. They can then only be used to make reservations 60 days in advance.

If your points were used for a non-DVC resort reservation they can only be used to make another non-DVC resort reservation.

In any case, the banked points must still be used by the end of the year into which they were banked. They can't be "put back" into their original year nor banked forward into the next year.

That still sounds a little Greek so ask away and me and my fellow DIS'ers will try to make it clearer.

juju: the same cancellation rules apply, if you cancel more than 30 days then they go back into your account for that year. If it's 30 or less, they go into a holding account in which case you can only use them for ressies 60 days or less in advance of travel. Points will still only be good in your use year. And there are restrictions about using points in the last 60 days of your use year also. IF you use them for a concierge or other hotel exchange,(inc Disney hotels) they have to be used in that same category, they can not be put back into your DVC account.

One additional point (pardon the pun). When you book a cruise on points there is a $75 fee. This is non-refundable. If you change the cruise reservation in ANY WAY you will incur an additional $75 fee.
