I have twins, one boy and one girl and they are both turning into teenagers next month...:sad2:my dd has already started with the attitude! Anyway, they have not had a kids birthday party in a few years just a family party. So I thought since they are turning into teenagers, I should try to make it really special, but I have to be able to afford it. Bad time of year with Christmas being in December too, but I think they are worth it. :lovestruc

I have read some ideas on here - one person rented a motel room where they had a pool at the motel and ordered pizza, etc. That would work with one child, but I'm not sure how to arrange it with two. Obviously we would need two rooms. I did a search for rates at a local motel, and for 1 adult and 4 children, we exceeded the number of allowed people? That would nix that idea.

Any other creative ideas on how to celebrate this very special birthday in the middle of winter in the Northeast? :yay:

Thanks!

We did the hotel thing but we stayed at a place like Embassy Suites or Country Inn and Suites that are "larger" rooms and allow for 5-6 in a room. Also look at Hyatt Place.

My friend has twins (also a boy and a girl) and their birthday is in Jan. When they had their 13 yo celebrations she decided that in order to make ti fair and equal she had the celebration for her daughter the day before their birthday (girl is older) and the celebration for her son the day after (it helped that their actual birthday was on a saturday last Jan).

The daughter wanted a sleepover at a hotel so they did that with her a 2 friends plus the mom. Son and dad hung out until it was time for bed. Day of their birthday they had a family dinner just the 4 of them and the day after the son wanted to go to a basketball game for the local college team and did that with 2 of his friends and the sister and mom and Dad.

Hope that helps.

A friend of mine did the glow in the dark bowling for her kids sweet 16. I know things are different everywhere but this was from 10:00 to midnight. Everything was glow in the dark. ( shoes, balls, and carpet) They even had loud music. :rotfl2: Boys got one lane and girls got another. She also ordered some drinks and pizza there.

Do you live near an indoor waterpark such as the kalahari?

You could buy day passes and not have to worry about the room situtation.

Our church has a huge life center that we as members can use for VERY cheap. Large area, kitchen, basket ball, volly ball.etc. We have done all kinds of parties with all ages and all have been a success. You have to do your own food but that's good for your budget! Maybe ask around your circle of friends to see if you can find anything that might work.

I also like the idea of one party the day before ..family on the day, and one the day after...BRILLIANT!

My DS is going to a party tomorrow, the mom is renting a Limo from 6PM to 10PM, they are going to Cici's Pizza and a scavenger hunt then back to the house for cake and gifts.

My daughters 12th birthday is coming up- we are taking 4 friends to the movies and then out to the Melting Pot for dinner and dessert!

just went to the neatest party for twins turning 13 including boys and girls! It was a scavenger hunt like the Amazing Race. It took 5 volunteers to drive around town, but the kids and adults had a blast!!!! :thumbsup2
