I knew it was coming, but I didn't know when, but last night I finally got my ring...
As I said I knew it was coming - We went ring shopping a couple of months ago and a couple of weeks later I picked it out, told the jeweller the specifications, got the quote and then told DF that it was all in his court.
My birthday passed a couple of weeks ago, and I had a suspiscion that it would happen then, but it didn't. But almost everything he did,I would think to myself - I wonder if this is it?
Anyway. Yesterday was a really muggy hot day, and DF came home from work and huffed "I don't want to cook tonight..." - yes he does the cooking, I've scored a winner! - I'm a pretty big tight ****, so we never get take away food during the week, and only rarely on weekends, so I was about to say that I'd cook, when he said "Let's go out to dinner" I was about the argue when I thought - this is it, I had better not argue and ruin his plans if I'm right.
So I agreed and we started getting ready. I suggested a new French restaurant but DF told me he thought it was only open Thursday - Saturday. So not there, then he told me I could pick... Now this was a stupid idea, b/c he had actually booked somewhere, and somewhere that I'd probably never pick, but I didn't suggest any where.
I pulled out my trusty laptop to see if I could find the number of the new French restaurant, DF asked me what I was doing and he told me not to worry about it, just to hop into the car and we'd find somewhere.
So I finished getting dressed and DF asked me "why are you wearing that outfit?" B/c it was an outfit I hadn't worn in quite a while, I told him it was because I wanted to wear the skirt - because it was a light summery skirt and it was so hot, and the top I was wearing was the only one that matched.
In the car I put some lip gloss on - I wear this gloss for work, but really never wear make up, so he asked "why are you putting that on?" Obviously getting concerned that I was onto him. I was, but I wasn't letting on, I told him because my lips were dry, I hadn't put any moisturising cream on after I got out of the shower.
Then I proceeded to put eye drops in my eyes again "why are you putting those in?" My answer - because I showered with my contacts in, so my eyes need it. I thought to myself if he asks me another question along those lines I'll be cheeky and reply with something like "You're full of questions tonight aren't you?" but he didn't so we pulled into a restaurant and walked in.
I hung back a little bit, suspecting that Chris had made a reservation, but wanting him to think that I couldn't hear the conversation he was having with the person at the front counter. Yes he had a reservation, and we were taken to our table
We had a little bit of chit chat about stuff and nonsense, before Chris pulled the ring out of his pocket. He started off by saying that he'd bought himself a lovely ring, but it didn't fit, then asking if I'd like it... We had a chuckle before he told me he was too embarrassed to get down on one knee so he tried handing it to me, I said "Well you could just put it on my finger" so he was half way sliding the ring onto my finger when he realised "hang on, I haven't even asked you yet!" so he snatched it off, and I said yes... Come to think of it, I still don't think he actually ended up asking me
Any way, the ring's on the finger now - the restaurant gave us some complementary bubbly and we visited my family and called DF's. - We live in the same town as my family, but his are a couple of hours away.
The end...
Now all I have to do is convince everyone that it's going to be a Dis Wedding! So on with the
