Further to my previous posts I now have my flight tickets and we are now on a Monarch flight from Newcastle on Saturday. I suppose one charter airline is roughly about the same as the next and as long as it has wings and an engine I am happy but has anyone flown with Monarch before. Are they any good etc.

Thanks

Shirley,

We flew with Monarch from Manchester to Sanford 5 weeks after 9/11, and the flight was brilliant. On time, lovely helpful stewards, good food, headphones swapped until I got some that worked, clean plane, plenty of blankets and pillows if we wanted them, Shrek for the film. My BIL and family came out 2 days later and had a similar experience.

The return with Britannia was awful - surly stewards, insufficient blankets, cold and not very clean plane and diversion to Glasgow. However I think some of this may have been post 9/11 disruption as other people rate Britannia highly.

And as you say, they all had wings, an engine and competent pilots!

Have fun.

I have flown with monarch not to orlando but to portugal the flights were great from what i can remember :) Hope you have a good flight and holiday :)

If I had to take a charter flight to Orlando, Monarch would be my choice, no doubt about it.

Admittedly I've never flown to the USA with them (I'm a Virgin man all the way !), but my mum lives in Tenerife, and we always use Monarch, whenever possible, to fly there and back, at least 2, 3 times a year. Never had a bad flight with them, never had a problem with poor service, delays, anything.

I personally have used Britannia too and found them above average, but I would still take Monarch over them if price/times were comparable.

Hope this helps ! :)

We flew with Monarch a couple of years ago. Flight was on time, lovely, helpful stewards and the food was ok too.
