My success story of no blisters/hot spots!

I don’t remember ever going to Disney World and not getting blisters and hot spots on my feet. This is the first visit that I didn’t have a single issue! I know that my having lost 40 pounds this year and walking 3 miles most every day since winter helped to a certain extent, but I’ve been at a lower weight before, and done the walking, so I don’t really think that was what made a difference. Here’s what worked for me:
SHOES: I had always worn leather walking sneakers, (New balance/Avia) with Thorlo Cool Max socks. Still blisters, even on the tips of a couple toes.
This summer, I read about the success people had with Go walk shoes by Skecher, and bought my first pair of slip on, beige ones. I couldn’t believe how light and cool they were, wearing them on my 3 mile walks with no problem. I bought some thinner, noshow socks (from Chinese Laundry) to wear with them. After wearing them shopping all day a few times, and then wearing them on my 3mile walks (brisk walks, walking 3 miles in 50 minutes), they felt great. I was worried, though about the pounding in the parks, since the loafer style didn’t have a lot of structure. I decided to buy a lace up pair, as my regular laceup sneakers were getting worn out anyway. So I bought a lace up pair, and again, wore them walking with no problem.
SOCKS: My thick, Cool Max socks were too thick to wear in the laceup go walks, so at first, I bought some thinner Dr. Scholl’s moisture wicking socks with padding, and wore them quite a bit this summer in the laceup go walks, and they felt fine. Then, just before we left, I found some even thinner, moisture wicking noshow socks from Fila, and bought a 6 pack of those.
PRODUCT: Finally, I had often used Body Glide for chafing on other body parts, but had read about people putting it all over their feet, so decided to try it.
PACKING: I wore my loafer skechers on the plane with the thin noshow socks traveling, and to lunch and Downtown Disney, which was only half day of walking. I did the same on another half day of walking around. For the full days of touring at both Universal and the Disney parks, I wore the laceup go walks and the thinner socks, but brought the Body Glide and a pair of the thicker socks with me, and half way through the day (around 2pm) I changed socks and reapplied the Body Glide. I had brought my older, leather walking shoes with me, and left them in the room, just in case I needed them, but never ended up using them.
IN SUMMARY: I really think it was the shoes/sock/ body glide combination that made the difference. I never took ibuprofen, or had to ice my feet. Thank you to all those who first wrote about the GoWalks, and the tip about changing socks half way through the day and reapplying the body glide. This was a wonderful relief for me this trip!

Thanks for the great report! i'm excited to try Go Walks on my upcoming trip in February.

I have foot issues (had heel surgery on both feet over the past couple of years) and need a supportive shoe that doesn't have a stiff back on it. In fact, I wear almost exclusively "backless" shoes. If I wear an "enclosed" shoe with a back on it, it can't have a stiff back on it, or it rubs on my heels and causes pain. I recently bough some Go Walks, which are very soft and comfortable, and I'm so glad to hear they worked so well for you!

And thanks for the info on Body Glide. I always worry that it will feel too slick and "slimy", but others have reported good success with it. May not even need it with the Go Walks, especially if I wear lightweight no-show socks like you did.

I worried about feeling squishy and slimy, too, and had even posted a question this summer asking about it. I spread it on top of my toes, underneath my toes,at the tips of my toes, , on the sides of my toes, and the balls of my feet. I've never had problems with my heels, or arches, so didn't use it there. I did not find it squishy at all! I hope it, and the gowalks, will work as well for you, as they did me!

I was looking at those, I'm going to buy a pair but not sure if I want the loafers or lace ups. I don't want Blisters!!!
