My story about buying tickets on ebay...

Well I thought I would be getting a deal... adult 2 day park hopper with dq or pleasure island for $139 total. That was end of November. She said tickets take a while... well it's January and no tickets. I also bought a child pass for $105. Good deals so I thought. Well it looks like I'm out the money. boo hoo. I'm actually really mad about this.

So I learned a few things: when you buy on ebay always make sure seller gives you a date when you will receive the goods. If you don't receive it by then and it must be before 30 days of end of transaction for Paypal, contact your credit card company to dispute it or paypal. Watch out for money orders only, use credit cards or paypal whenever possible.

And maybe sometimes too good to be true is just that... Well learn from my mistake.

Maja,

I surely hope that this is simply a case of the seller taking a long while to deliver. I hope that you are not out your money... :(

:( Sorry!!! I know we are warned against it. But that still that is just awful.

What sort of feedback did this seller have? And did you pull their contact info from Ebay and call them on the phone? Or mail them a registered letter? And of course, give them a Negative and a file a complaint against them with Ebay? I wonder if the Mods would allow you to post the User ID so we can avoid this seller? Don't give up on getting the passes yet..try some of the above ideas.

It doesnt sound good but I do want to add that we have bought passes on ebay multiple times with no problems..always only bought from sellers with good feedback and not just a couple

Its too late with Paypal but if you used a credit card you can still go to them probably...

Sounds like they didn't have the passes in hand when they listed them, an ebay requirement, I believe. Contact ebay and tell them the situation. Maybe they can help. Also, contact PayPal and tell them you never received the item.

I hate to sound stupid... but where on earth would they be getting a 2 day park hopper to sell anyhow? Aren't those rare or nonexistent? Or were these other park hoppers with 2 days left over? And as far as I know, regular park hoppers do not include DQ... just PI, TL, and/or BB (and some events at WWOS). Only the AP and and the UPH include DQ, as far as I know.

ANYHOW, I think you got taken and I am so sorry!! I can imagine how you feel. I "almost" got taken for a Disney item on ebay last year to the tune of $45 and I was FURIOUS! Take whatever action you need to in an attempt to get your money back! You worked hard for it, I'm sure. Again, so sorry this happened to you............P

Edited to add... Okay... I have looked around and see where someone may possibly have gotten a 2 day PH with DQ to sell. Just surprised me because they are not common. But still... I think you got a bum deal. Sorry.

I think these are probably convention tickets that expire a certain number of days after the first use. I looked on ebay and was shocked at the prices people were paying because they could be bought from Disney directly for a fraction of the price some buyers were paying. I pulled up the convention page and typed in family vacation under the conference name and would still have allowed me to buy them. I didn't, but those looked to me to be the tickets that were being sold on ebay.

pjilla: I just pulled up the meetings page and they do still sell these tickets, a 2 day park hopper with admission to DQ or PI. A: $108 C:$86. Hope that helps.

thanks, I wish I knew that i could get them directly from disney instead of getting scammed... well paypal has agreed to open the claim because that seller (id ticketlady04) delayed sending the tickets to us on purpose. Again remember before 30 days you can file a claim with paypal, after that with ebay or your credit card company. But I won't buy off ebay again, I will sell, but I won't buy. Thanks for your advice nonetheless.

I looked at theultimates.com for that last name in Austin, TX. There were 167 with that family name, but none had a street address of Bucks Run. Sorry I couldn't help.

What was the zip code? That might help someone find a phone number.

Warning: Disney contacted my sister about what convention she was attending after she purchased her tickets ( 2-day. DQ tix)

I thought there was a way on ebay to get the seller or buyer's phone number from ebay? I know for sure, that you have to be in a transaction with the person. It doesn't mean it is a valid number.. but you could try.

Here is the link to request contact info from ebay.. it is about half way down the page:

http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?UserInformationRequest#ContactInfo

It looks like, from her feedback, that she has a history of shipping tickets late.. as far back as Aug. 2004 (and the account has only been open since Jun '04). It's no excuse, just a warning sign. I believe that Ebay has a policy stating that a seller must ship an item within a certain number of days after receiving payment. You might want to try opening a complaint with ebay's arbitration system. It's kinda funny how on some of the auctions the first line she has says "Always read feedback.. " lol.

..also here is the link for the ebay fraud center:

Hope that helps!

I'm sorry you may have been scammed. Hopefully you can do something bout it.

I have my limits on what I buy on Ebay. My sitter called me this morning to show her how to pay through Paypal. She bought her parents Mets/Yankees tickets. I warned her that she may not get them.

can you use these tickets if you are not complying with all the regs? or how do they know at the gate if you are at a convention, wedding, etc.?

There was another post on this board today about buying 2 day PH tickets from one of the ticket brokers...maybe discountorlando or something like that??? Anyway, that is the same sort of ticket, although aparantly not tied to a convention. But, with the new ticket structure, you can buy a 2 day MYW ticket, no problems.

We contacted paypal and they will open an investigation about it, and ebay will do the same. I just think she will close her paypal account or leave no funds that can be accessed. So ebay will help for 1 of the tickets and the other I might be stuck. We 'll try to sue her on Judge Judy or something since I'm in Canada I can't sue her locally. And I checked her feedback when I purchased the tickets... and she did e-mail me and seemed great. I think she can't get them anymore and spent my cash. Oh well, I will no longer purchase on ebay, I'll rather go to my local Wal-Mart store.
