I started this in the SSR Lovers and/or Owners thread but decided to move it out here since it did become a full blown trip report and I was high jacking the thread with it.:offtopic:

This trip had been in the making since November 2007 when we took a detour to Ghana, West Africa. Having canceled a Disney Christmas trip to do so, our first instinct was to do a Christmas trip in 08. After coming back from Ghana, our bank account wasn't as healthy as it was prior so we were then looking into doing a just adults anniversary trip in June. We had SW airline credits that would cover our airfare and we wouldn't need park tickets...

Several Guilt trips later, we figured out how we would do a family trip at the end of the school year.
We would be super cheap we'd just do P and P on our dvc discount and just go easy.

Welllll, that was not to be. We saw a thread on here about the travel channel looking for DVC members blah blah blah. There dates were the same as ours!!! I fired off an email to the contact person and wouldn't you know it, after a bit of back and forth and video making and sending etc etc, they picked us as one of the families!!!

We got down on the 27th of May. The weather was beautiful. We were in a 2 bedroom on the top floor in the Grandstand in the 8800 building beach club and back with our little one ringing the bell at every passer by. . We had some struggles making it up the hill but we will definitely be doing the surrey bikes again. We had a lot of fun.

After that, it was time to head over to the beach club for dinner at Cape May. We took the boat over (love the boats). Dinner at Cape May is more relaxing than most buffets. The food was fresh and hot. We ate a ton of mussels and clams. The girls drew lots of pictures on our table cloth. After dinner, we took the boat back to boardwalk and drove back home to SSR.

May 29th:

We slept in again (love it). The girls wanted to pool hop again so we decided on Coranado Springs since we wanted to have lunch at the Pepper market. This is yet another awesome counter service option. I had a fish taco. That thing is ridiculously huge and delicious! Hubby had bourbon chicken, the twins had wet burritos which were huge and they said "the best burritos ever". Needless to say, we had left overs to bring back to SSR. It was a little crowded to say the least because there was a huge convention there and they were going to lunch!

After lunch we walked over to the pool. First let me say that CSR is so beautiful. The surroundings and landscape are gorgeous. It's very scenic. We enjoyed the walk immensely.

The girls looooovvvvved the slide. They went on that thing about 50 times a piece. Needless to say, we will be visiting that pool again.

That night we had dinner at 1900 Parkfare. The Grand Floridian is my favorite WDW hotel. Maybe it's the old Victorian grandma in me trying to get out, but I just absolutely love everything about it. It is magical. Anyway this was the first time we had a chance to whip out our autograph books that I had labored over for months (thanks creative DISigns board)! They came out just gorgeous. The twins had on Cindy crowns and youngest dd had on a jasmine dress (which she would wear later on in the week). Anyway, the step mom and step sisters are uproarious, when I handed them the big fat ginormous Cinderella autograph pin to sign our books, they were none to pleased. Prince Charming was charming. Cinderella was lovely. Dinner was ok. Not a ton of choices but everything I had was fresh. I do prefer the buffet before the change but it wasn't awful as some say.

After dinner we headed over to Fort Wilderness for the Chip n Dale camp fire sing along. We picked up some over priced s'mores fixins and had so much fun roasting our marshmallows and making our smores. We met a really cute family from Tennessee. They saved our lives with mosquito repellent! Their accents were contagious! We tried to stay for the movie but we got tired so we left a little while into finding Nemo.

May 30th

On to Epcot and my very favorite ride Soarin!!!!

We did get a couple of lovely things for being picked to be on the special. One was park hopper passes for our family and the second was a Disney gift card. We had no idea we had them until the 30th when we got a message from our travel channel contact saying we could pick them up at Guest Services. We had initially planned on just visiting MK for P and P party and doing a relaxing pool and other activities trip. As you can tell, we were doing just that until we got that call and after that it was back to the usual grind.

We went straight to Soarin and measured our youngest. She was just at 40 inches!!! We got our fp's and went on the Land. Hubby and I were doing a little kissing (just cheeks) and hugging in the dark parts. My oldest twin happenned to look back and got really mad at us. She was really bitter and clinging to guns and religion for about an hour, so I left her with hubby and took the youngest and other twin to get autographs.

I met a really adorable fam in line. We yakked the time away but right as it was our turn, I remembered our ressies at aukershus! My phone was out of battery, so cute fam let us use theirs to call hubby so he could high tail it over there to hold our ressie. We had to get out of the line and run, me carrying the youngest all the way from Character Connection to Norway because hubby took the stroller with him for some unknown reason. Sweaty but victorious, we arrived at Aukershus and had a most awesome lunch with the princesses the youngest was of course rocking her Jasmine dress the twins had on Belle crowns and princess tshirts. The place completely emptied out and we literally had it all to our selves before everyone came in for the first dinner ressies. Our server was gorgeous btw. Are all Norwegians gorgeous? Everytime we eat there, we have a gorgeous server.

After lunch, we saw there was no wait for Maelstrom so we went on. It is awesomely corny and dated which translates to, LOVE IT!!! We then went to the updated but still fabulously corny fiesta del something or other, you know, the Mexico boat ride.

Youngest dd still didn't get her Princess fix fully so we hunted down Mulan in China which was really like tracking a rare exotic animal in a dense jungle because noooooooooooo oooooooooooooone would tell us where she would be and what time she would be there. Those CM's were clueless. We finally saw a little group of families sitting around with autograph books and expectant looks. We knew we had her in our sites. Snow White wasn't as hard. She was like a sitting duck.

We took the boat back across to WS. We hit Nemo which had very little wait but got stuck at that song at the end where that pink star fish does his monolouge. That monologue was driving me crazy after about the seventh time around and the song could give small world a run for it's money if you heard it as much as we did!!! After that, we went to TT with Crush. That is one flirtatious turtle ladies so watch out. My hubby almost had to get in that tank with him!

After that, the twins and dad headed over to MS and TT and the little one and I headed off to finish our unfinished business at the Character Connection. This time we got all of our autographs.

Our last ride was Spaceship Earth, a family fave due to it's corny nature. Any hoo because I might have had a little bit of an attitude as I was sleepy and may have been behaving less that magically, The good Lord saw fit to punish me with a spanish speaking narrator. Words (at least english ones) cannot explain the aggravation of that ride. I'll give it 3 headache smilies: Next time, I'll check my little stank attitude at the gate.

May 31st

We went to Magic Kingdom. We were suppose to get in at opening but didn't. Anyhoo we lived the cliche and headed straight for fantasyland. Mickey's Phil is one of our very favorites and had no line so we did that first. As always, I tried to eat the apple pie but with no success. After that, we fast passed Peter Pan which had an unacceptable wait time of 30 minutes and went on your favorite ride Small World. We got stuck at the part where everyone is all together, you know the part where you try to guess what country has African, Chinese and Polynesian, Indian, Swedish and Mexican children, then you figure out what's happening. I was like, this is Iceland, no wait...

We then headed off to the Carousel with our souvenir ear worms. After the Carousel we rode Snow White's then considered doing Pooh but at 30 minutes , the wait was unacceptable. We kept going toward the Tea Cups and had a hurlicious ride. After that we went on into Toon Town and got on that ridiculous Barnstormer. I think the jerkiness of that ride knocked our ear worms out of our ears, so if you can't get the Small World song out of your head, ride Barnstormer and it will knock that puppy loose along with a few vital things you might have wanted to keep but if you're desperate... Put your lanyards in your purse. Our oldest twin (and isn't it always her), was very bitter about losing a few precious pins on that ride. She went to extremes and vowed never to trade or buy pins again. I perked up inwardly at the thought of the money we would save. That lasted.

After Brain Bruiser, we visited Mickey's house which I must say is mighty lame in comparison to Minnie's (tsk tsk tsk). Isn't Mickey the king of Disney? He deserves better. We took a ton of pics in Minnies house, for it is awesome. We then left Toon Town and headed over to use our fast passes for Peter Pan's Flight. Awesomely dated, slightly corny dark ride. It's a recipe for love.

After PPF, we headed over to Haunted Mansion. The wait was an acceptable 15 minutes. Some new stuff happened on it, but I'd be hard pressed to tell you what it was. There is just so much detail in HM. We love it and would never miss it.

After HM, we headed toward Pirates, another fave and even more so with the addition of Captain Jack!!! I'm no purist. Any way the wait time was a superb 5 minutes. It was blazingly, burning hot by then (about 1:00pm) and Pirates is such a great way to cool off. We have a new tradition of trying to slap Davy Jones but alas, he is made of mist.

For some reason hubby was really fiending to ride Jungle Cruise but we just kept doing other stuff. After the 5 minute wait I had for pirates, I was far to spoiled to wait 20 minutes for Jungle Cruise It is out dated and corny though, so I was thinking hard about it. Anyhoo, we got autographs from Hook and Smee. The girls were ready for thrills so we fast passed Splash Mountain and then rode Big Thunder. It was soooooooooooooo awesome!!! We usually think it is really lame and many times, we skip it, but this time it seemed longer and faster and more exciting. We all had a new respect for it and the youngest was absolutely bonkers over it. I guess you could say this was the start of her new found thrill junky status. They grow up too fast.

We checked back with Jungle Cruise which was still 20 minutes, so we went on Aladdin's (anything but magic) Carpets. After that, it was time to refresh our selves with food and beverage. Despite having ressies at Crystal Palace, we waited and waited and waited which did bite ever so hard. Any way lunch was good. Eeyore knocked a kid flat on the tush. That wasn't cool. They then hussled Eeyore away. Perhaps he was drunk and they had to call in a replacement.

After lunch we used our fast passes for Splash Mountain . It was awesome as always and the youngest reaaallllllly loved the drop!

Youngest had been bugging us about Peter and Wendy and I was a little hot at my hubby because when we were in line for Hook and Smee, Peter and Wendy passed by and I wanted to follow them but nooooooooooooooooooooooooo, we were already in this line and why should we get out blah blah blah. Needless to say, we saw Hook and Smee about a million more times and never saw Peter and Wendy so I was extra sizzling with each successive Hook and Smee sighting. Peter and Wendy did eventually end up saving our marriage toward the end of the day.

We went over to Tomorrowland and saw a small wait for Laugh Floor and no wait for that bastion of suckage, Stitch's (not any where close to) Great Escape. Need you ask what we did. In Laugh Floor, they pick people out of the audience to make part of the joke. Hubby got picked as one of the characters which was so funny. Everyone who is picked looks so shocked like they were caught doing something wrong. After that, there wasn't much time left so we went to see about Space Mountain. The wait time did bite extra hard so we decided on Indy Speedway instead, which the girls love and I hate.

I remembered that we did not have our traditional dole whips so we high tailed it back over to Adventureland. I think I created another addict. The lady behind me was so curious. We got pineapple vanilla float swirls. She was going to get a chocolate vanilla swirl but after I extolled the virtues of the Pineapple, I saw her walking away with the beginnings of a new addiction.

We sat down and relished our dole whips. Afterward, we were thirsty so we got some sodas from a popcorn cart that was being high jacked by a family of ducks. It was then time to go.

We were so crazy trying to figure out what counter service we were going to get. We went to Port Orleans, but didn't want anything there so we braved DTD on a Friday night. There was no parking, it was a zoo. After a tense, turse and hushed "conversation", honey wound up driving around in circles while I went to Cooke's of Dublin and ordered that fish, deserts and five drinks. I carried all of that back to the car in one trip by myself. (yes I am self-worshiping). Moms are awesome. That fish is huuuuggge!!! It is triple breaded! The fries are gigantic and potatoey. I wasn't in love, so don't know if I will do it again. The fish wasn't to flavorful but it wasn't nasty.

Love your TR!! Sounds like you had an awesome time! Love your sense of humor!! It's great on a Monday!

June 1st

Disney's Hollywood Studios.

We had some left overs for breakfast then headed out for DHS. I was nervous because this was suppose to be a high crowd level day ( I live and die by the charts), but since we were kind of piecing this trip together, we had to make it work.

First thing we did was to fast pass RnR. After that we decided to see the Little Mermaid. We got side tracked by Quincy from the Little Einsteins. He wasn't alone of course. The little one wanted autographs from every character in site so we bowed down.:worship: princess: After she had her way, we saw the Little Mermaid. It was cute as always and a little scary during the Ursula part.:scared1:

After the Little Mermaid, we did The Magic of Disney Animation for the first time. While the twins and I stayed for the drawing portion hubby and youngest went to see Playhouse Disney. We drew some very abstract looking Jimminy Crickets.

We met up and saw the parade happening so hubby took parade crazy little one to see it and the twins and I, went to redeem our RnR fast passes. I must admit that I am terrified of the take off. I live in dred from the time I know that I will be going on it (entering the park) until the time the ride is over. The girls make me go. They whine and beg and throw fits that cannot be tolerated by any sane adult, sooo I cave in.:headache: This time was no different. I think my fear actually heightens their enjoyment of the ride.:confused3

It had started lightly raining so we all met up under the big hat. By the time we were all under, it was pouring. Of course the little one pipes up that she has to go to the potty right as the worst of it starts. I grab her and high tail it to the nearest bathroom which we are then held hostage in by the torrential down pour for about 15 minutes. When it lightened up, I made a run for the Great Movie Ride. I called hubby and told him to grab the girls and run for it. The big rain started back so I see them across from the enterance of GMR dip a toe out of the hat, then run back in the hat. After a few false starts, they make it!!!:dance3: We pretend to be in suspense as our train is robbed, sing along to follow the yellow brick road and in general really enjoy the staleness and corniness of it all.

After GMR, we head over to see Beauty and the Beast. I loooove the sparkly dresses and girlyness of this show so much, not to mention it has some of my favorite songs. You just know that my kids are never ever embarrassed when I sing along.;) After this we sit down for a minute so that I can amend our dinner reservations. I completely lucked out and got reservations for Narcoossee's for 8:00pm and cancelled our Boma reservations for 4pm that we weren't going to make.

The girls were ready to ride Tower of Terror. We notice that the height is 40 inches. The littlest thrill junky insist on riding it with her big sisters. Hubby flashes me this look like he's considering all things custody but instead walks away and an unfit mother ignoring the icy stares of good mothers and 3 thrill maniacs take on the Tower.

The little one is hard core. I was all in panic mode like what have I done. "Honey mommy's here for you" reliving those icy stares and she's all: YYYYipppppy! YYYYYahoooooo!!! Again Again!!! She insisted on going back on and it is now her favorite ride! She would have rode that puppy all night!

After I tore her away, we tried to redeem some fast passes we had gotten earlier for Toy Story Ride but the ride was acting all stank so after about 40 minutes of waiting and getting almost to the front of the line then the little one deciding she had to potty thus we had to excuse our selves alll the way back through the line to take tinkle belle to the potty then getting a second pass to come back through the FP line then the ride breaking down again we decided that the ride probably was wack and left.:headache:

We ended the night at Narcoossee's.:lovestruc We had never been. We didn't know where we were going on GF property but we finally made it. After quite a wait, we were seated at a window table with the most lovely view. You know we ordered the Lobster!!! The twins who usually eat no red meat decided they had to try steak. It's a little burnt piece of shoe leather on the kids menu which has turned them off of steak forever. I must digress to tell you that they wanted to try ribs, so we let them have some over at Cape May. They were disgusted by them as well.

Anyway, the lobster was big and chewy but I wasn't complaining because I knew I wouldn't be seeing a lobster again any time soon. The potatoes that came with them were delicious!!! The girls really loved the chicken soup that came with their dinner and declared it the best ever. Little picky was very disappointed in the quality of Narcoossee's chicken nuggets and left most of them on her plate and I believe they all prefer kraft Mac n Cheese to Narcoossee's Mac n Cheese. On a happier note the Cheese cake was as good as legend would have it.:thumbsup2

During dessert, Wishes, the bestest, most tear-jerkinest fire works show in the world, started. Our view was perfect. Did I sing you ask? YES I DID.:wizard: I might have teared up just a little too.

My house is being torn up around me so I have to go but will post more later.:)

What did you have to do for the travel channel?

I am glad you love it!:lovestruc

We filmed a segment on June 3rd for the Travel Channel so you will have to suffer through June 2nd first before I relive the burn (oh it was hotttttt)!

June 2nd

No parks today, we scheduled some time to visit my sister who lives in Orlando but first we had breakfast. I made RESSIES:lmao: at 1900 Parkfare for a late breakfast. This is a breakfast we never miss because the girls and I loooooove Mary Poppins and Alice and Wonderland and you might remember that I have a little old Victorian Grandmother living inside me so again, the Grand Floridian is my most favorite and to me the most magical Disney resort.:wizard:

Breakfast was really great. I was pleased to see that Mary Poppins comes in to greet diners now instead of just being left out like a step character or something. I made Alice n Wonderland shirts for the girls and I so the Mad Hatter gave us lots of grief about them. He made it a special point to tell us how ugly our shirts were. We got to whip out those journal/autograph books that I so lovingly labored over. They got lots of attention from the CMs and characters.

I ate lots of bagels and Lox, strawberry soup and bread pudding. This is my ideal breakfast.:cloud9: After breakfast the girls of course wanted to swim. They had their eyes on the clown pool since they first saw it so we headed over to the Boardwalk.

I must say that I think I love the Boardwalk lobby more than any other lobby. It just does it for me. I love the detail of the hotel. It has the best wood work and lighting fixtures, accessories and furniture at least in the public areas, (I've never stayed there). One day we will have to try the Boardwalk out.

I take the girls to hit the pool and hubby disappears. He doesn't love to sit and bake. The girls are enjoying themselves but are a little disappointed in the slide because of the cracks  that hurt a little as they go down. I get a call from my sister. She wants to see us immediately so I round up the girls who are a little peeved about having to leave so soon.

We meet up with hubby and ride over to Wolfgang Pucks to pick up some counter service for us, sister and nephew (we had lots of counter service left to use). Wolfgang pucks is another really good CS choice. The portions are huge and the food is above average for CS. We get Rotisserie Chicken, Pizzas and sandwiches various desserts and drinks and drive to my sisters.

Sister squeals and fawns over us and the food. It's a really great visit. We stay until about 10:00pm that night. That's not the last thing we do. We go to Wal-mart to get plain shirts. Travel Channel folks asked for small or no logos and all the girls and I have are shirts with giant characters of course. After Walmart, we tuck extremely tired children into bed and pass out our selves.

you quit....

want the real of the story!!! you are a good storyteller not to mention writer.

Just started reading and now I feel like I've just read the cliffhanger at the end of a prime time tv season.

Did Ross and Rachel get back together? Did Scully ever find Mulder? Did the Carver hurt Dr. Troy? Oh the agony...

You could turn this TR into a a great short story article!!!

Anxiously awainting the next installment.

I need to ask, where did you end up seeing Peter and Wendy? I would love to have my boys meet them.

oh my, I had been reading your TR on the other thread and then saw it here, thinking that you finished your trip here...oh the anticipation.

I love your "thrill junkies" because it reminds me of my sil squeezing my hand so hard there's no circulation meanwhile smiling to her 6yr old daughter on Soarin' (who loved every minute of it)

Love your report!

Oh my goodness, more readers!:wizard: It's been so busy around here. I have my sister here from Orlando and my mom was here. This week was also my hubby's b-day and our anniversary so I haven't been able to be on the computer. I promise I will update by Saturday. Thanks so much for sharing our trip with us!:wizard:

They can be found in Adventure Land just beyond the Pirate's of the Carribean on that same side. They were in the walk way outside of the bathroom nearest to the POTC. Just ask a CM in Adventure Land. They come out every 30 minutes I understand.:wizard:

Great TR! Thanks for sharing. Now hurry up and finish!! LOL.

Where did you go in Ghana? My son went for two months as a volunteer. He stayed in a tribal village near the Adaklu mountain. He plans on going back again this winter to visit the people he met there. It was an incredible experience for him.

ARGh! I feel so bad because I haven't had time to finish. Later on today, I will have a totally empty house so I will be able to finish.:wizard:

We went a lot of places in Ghana but we were based in Tema. We visited Accra, Cape Coast and Volta. It truly was an incredible experience. Thanks for sharing your sons experience with me.:wizard:
