This is my first time here, so if it's a little off I apologize. One of my good friends told me about this place and I'm here to try it out for the first time. I've read a few other posts, but never responded to any of them.

My name is Shavone Duquette, we live in GA. I'm 26 years old, my husband is Jason Duquette, he's 26 as well. We have 2 wonderful little boys. Jeremiah is 4 and Ethan is 3. This is my story of how I ended up here on the dis boards. :)

Here's the story. My youngest son (3) was born with a lot of heart problems and other problems. Throughout his 3 years we've gotten nothing but bad news from the doctors and specialist and other people he's had to see. In April of 2008 my husband and I were watching a race and saw that a boy was granted a wish from the Make A Wish foundation. Their information was posted all over the screen, so I decided to look into it that night. Well, you had to be a certain age and have a life threatening disease, well in my mind my son does have a life threatening disease, because of all the surgeries that he goes through we never know if he's going to make it. So I filled out all the information that they requested and went about watching the race. Two weeks later I recieved an email from one of the workers and it said that I would be getting a phone call within a few weeks to ask some questions and to get some paper work filled out. I got the phone call and answered the questions and the next day I got the paper work that was to be filled out. I filled the paper work out and had it in the mail the next day. A few weeks went by and I recieved some information in the mail telling us who our Wish Volunteers would be and that they would be contacting me shortly to schedule a visit. Things happened and one of the volunteers we were given went MIA, so we got another one and our meeting was scheduled a few days before Ethan's 13th surgery in July. At the meeting they discussed our options and asked Ethan what he wanted to wish for and what his favorite color was. He liked them. They are very nice people. Ethan's wish was to go to Disney World. I've never been and neither have my children. My husband used to go all the time when he was a little kid so he doesn't count LOL :rotfl2: I recieved an email from one of the volunteers letting us know that Ethan was approved medically to travel to Disney World :cool1: I was so excited. Our trip is going to be 6 days 7 nights. We're not sure where we're staying yet, but we do know that we're flying. My kids are very excited about all of this. Ethan asks everyday if we're leaving yet to go to Disney World. My husband keeps telling me that this type of stuff is what you only see on TV and it never happens to anybody else but the ones on TV. Well, it's happening to us and we're all very excited to go. It's my first time there as well as my son's first time. If there is any advice that you could give us I'd be greatly appreciative for it. Thanks.

I just discovered your post, kind of by accident. We love to read about Wish trip kids. Have you been to the Wish Trippers Thread? There is lots of info there that will help you so much with your planning and questions. You will soon find lots of new friends in a similar situation to yours!

Here is the link to that thread:

Thank you. Yes, they're all boy. I do have one question. In order to post something new about the trip do I have to post a new thread? Like for when we get the hotel that we're staying in and our inteniary? I will have more pics later this afternoon. I have to take my oldest son to school, then go to the grocery store WOOHOO for me. :) Thank you everybody for your warm welcome.
