My Son Loves Halloween...5/5 3 updates! Main Street, castle, statue photos

I've been doing some shopping for the trip.

I am planning on leaving Hannah some surprises every day we are gone. That way she won't miss us. (And she'll be happy to send us on a trip without her anytime we want!)

So we ordered a few things from Disney shopping.

Jacob picked out a WallE polo for the trip. So I got Hannah a WallE & Eve shirt.

From an earlier order- a fairies shirt for Hannah:

New bathing suit for Jacob, but it might be too big.
We may have to save this for a future trip!

We were near an AC Moore last week, so we stopped in for a few things.
We got shirts for tie dye and iron on for Jacob, and we'll make them for Hannah too. I am going to order something online for myself. Double shirts for tie dye in case we need to try again. :rolleyes1

Jacob and I were discussing which day we would wear iron on shirts vs. the Wall E shirt he would wear. I slipped and said Chef Mickey's day, Hannah heard and she pouted. Then she asked if we would make her a tie dye shirt too. Jacob slipped and said she was getting a present everyday. Oops. He didn't know that was a surprise. No one can keep a secret in this house. :sad2:
So now Hannah can't wait for us to leave. :lmao:

We got Jacob a black t-shirt for the Pirate skeleton costume. We still need shorts or pants. He chose fluorescent green paint to make the bones. They didn't have any glow in the dark topcoat, and I only have one tube left. May need to find more.

This is his model, and why he chose green bones.

The main reason I wanted to go to the craft store was for this:

I was looking for a smaller one, for some window decoration stuff we were thinking about, but I'm sure I can come up with plenty of uses for this!!!

Wow, you have been busy! I love the stuff you have so far. Can't wait to see how the tie died ones come out. Cool idea for the skeleton. Is your DS going to do this himself? What do you plan on doing with the Mickey cut outs? They're precious!

I have never tie dyed before. So it should be interesting.

He will draw it, because he is the artist. By the time he was 3, he could draw better than me.

Not sure what we will do with the mickey cut outs. Our original idea was to use a bunch of orange ones to make a "pixillated" Mickey pumpkin. These are a bit bigger than I planned to get, so we'll see if that works. We'll use them for some kind of design for our window!

Your pre-trip report is great.

We love squished pennies too. I have several books from past trips and several other pressed penny books from other vacations. I have a special pocket in my purse that always has quarters and shiny pennies because one never knows when one is going to stumble across a penny machine.

My sister only uses pre-1982 pennies. I prefer the shiny new pennies. I figured all the pennies are going to tarnish eventually anyway. My sister uses the vinegar method to shine her pennies before her trips.

I do love the M&M containers for the quarters & pennies, one of the best tips I have learned from the disboards.

I am taking a hardcore approach to squished pennies this trip. I printed the checklist off of the internet and went through and marked off all the pennies I already have. I then made up index cards for each park on the pennies that I still need. In the past I have just got whatever penny design I liked (which resulted in several duplicates by accident). This time, I am going for whatever one I don't have in order to get a complete set from each park. I don't do the squished quarters, too expensive and they don't always squish flat.

Anyway, great trip report and I am off to read your son's report. ~Jenny

HI Kathleen, I"m sorry i haven't made it over to your PTR... i thought i had posted a comment or twice already ooOops.. but i guess not:sad2: However, I"m glad I came,I"m here now, and your PTR is amazing. I love how your son joins in, " Hi, Jacob " and that yous love Halloween. Thanks and Welcome!

The pennies are so much fun!
I'm glad to hear how well the m&m tubes have worked for everyone. I usually just have a little change purse, this sounds much better.
I may try the vinegar. We had the books out yesterday, and they are now full, so we HAVE to buy a new one.
I am going to bring the list this time. Last time I forgot. :headache:
THen I found out I could have gotten one at Guest Relations. :headache:

I just have vague memories of costumes and trick or treating. I don't think we did much else. I definately enjoy Halloween more now. Glad you are making your own good Halloween memories.
Jacob loves the decorating. I have only been carving pumpkins for 7 Halloweens, but that is now my favorite part.

Hannah is excited about the gifts! :yay:
Now she can't wait til our trip.

I love your clothes photos - they look so lovely!
I've been checking out some threads of gift shop photos - dangerous! I'm now seriously rethinking our baggage allowance :thumbsup2

Thanks!
Very Dangerous! :rotfl:
I have been seeing a lot of photos from the shops and have started a "shopping in Disney" list. I am rethinking our luggage plans too.
I will have to post the list later as I am at work and the list is at home.

I love the Wall-E and Eve shirt!

Oops about all the secret slipping that went on at your house! :lmao: At least Hannah is happy to be getting gifts!

I can't wait to see your how your shirts come out! I'm especially looking forward to Jacob's costume. Do you know what you're going dressed as yet?

I think Hannah will love the Wall-E and Eve shrit, she thinks Wall-E is adorable. She loved the movie. :lovestruc

I still don't know what I'm going to do for costume(s). :sad2:
Disney shopping opened the Halloween shop, but nothing I like or can afford! :scared1:
They do have some cute customizeable t-shirts though!
I love the one of Mike Wasowski and his jack-o-lantern! :lmao:

Can't wait till we are there!!!

Just stopping by to join in on the one month celebration!

:cheer2:  :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Thanks for celebrating!!!

Whoops! I didn't know you updated your PTR because I was only looking at the title. Now I'll know to check :)

I was reading a trip report, when Hannah told me I like Disney too much. :scared1:

So, I told her she didn't like Disney enough. :headache:

She said she likes Disney like a "normal" person. :lmao:

I think she was not happy that I was on "MY" computer. She wanted to use it.

This exchange was hilarious to me! My mom thinks that because Weird and I like Disney so much, it's just a sign that we're still young (we're in our early 20s). I somehow can't convince her that Disney is for all ages! I mean, the majority of people on DIS writing TRs are adults, even those without kids! Haha, it's cute that Hannah thinks there's such a thing as liking Disney too much, as if that's possible~ ;) It's like the reverse of my mom because she still somehow believes Disney is more for kids!

So this trip I am going to be more organized! I have been saving quarters since we got back. I am putting together an m&m tube with a stack of quarter, quarter, penny. (Thanks Rachel Ninja for the awesome m&m tube idea!!!)

I went through all the pennies in our house and picked out a bunch of nice looking pre-1982 pennies. I shined a dozen so far, so I still have a lot to do.

Jacob said cool! Did you learn that on the internet?

YW for the tip! Of course, I just learned it from someone else on DIS too! I love that tips and advice that seem so "common" are still new at the same time. It's like, you can never know it all!

The night before I left for WDW, I poured out all my pennies to search for the pre-1982 because that's what Weird told me to do. But I only found a few before I decided it was time to go to bed. I kind of just grabbed the shiny new ones because I didn't expect them to be bad, but I wish I had been better at following Weird's advice! I'm going to have to go through those cleaning methods to shine them up again.

Haha, Jacob's reaction is the best :thumbsup2

So I got Hannah a WallE & Eve shirt.

Jacob slipped and said she was getting a present everyday. Oops. He didn't know that was a surprise. No one can keep a secret in this house. :sad2:
So now Hannah can't wait for us to leave. :lmao:

The main reason I wanted to go to the craft store was for this...

Awww, that's so sweet of you to have something for Hannah while you're away! It's very thoughtful, and I'm sure it makes it that much easier for Hannah to look forward to you guys leaving! Haha.

That Wall-E and Eve shirt is the best! I would definitely buy that if they had it in an adult size!

And I've always seen that hole punch and other Disney things at the craft store, but didn't think it would be "worth" investing in it. I use more stamps and stuff and try to go for more "general" things because not everyone likes Disney the way I do. But I always go to look at it everytime I go back ... haha. I think I'm going to give in to that hole punch though! Haha, it'll definitely make ME happy!

And yay for one month!

And now my ticker has been missing for a few days, along with so many others.
I hope they are back soon.

I know  My ticker has gone too!:sad2: Hope they'll be back soon :sad1:

But 1 month to go!!!!!!! :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2:

Yay! Less than 1 month now! Doesn't it feel great! I keep saying to myself, next week it will be 3 weeks!!!

Yay:banana:

I have a penny question. I started to get together some change today and remmebered only to use pre 1982 right? What if they're not shiney? Are those the ones that I can make pretty with ketsup?

Hi just checkin in on the planning!

I'm so lost. We are doing the penny thing too. Why do I need to get pre-1982 pennies? We bought a roll of 2008 but I'll search for earlier ones if its better. :lmao: How do I shine them up? I'm so glad I read on here about the M&M thing because that is on my to do list in my head but I had forgotten about it! :rolleyes1

How are the costumes coming?

I keep forgetting to update the title. It just doesn't feel much like updating on a ptr, not like on a tr.

I try to think of things to do that Hannah or Joe would like for a future trip. But I don't know if it will change the way they feel. It was neat to see my Dad's feelings change. He really enjoyed Disney with the Grandkids. Though he was always really good about taking us to Disney & other fun places.

I want Hannah to sound happy on the phone when I talk to her. Not sad telling me she misses me. She is also looking forward to some time with Dad. He will take her to ice skating which he rarely does, so I'm sure that will be a treat for both of them.

I've done some neat crafts with other hole punches so I thought it would be cool. I enjoyed testing it on the scrap paper.

I know  My ticker has gone too!:sad2: Hope they'll be back soon :sad1:

But 1 month to go!!!!!!! :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2:

They are back!!! Probably the website that they are all on was down for a couple of days. :confused3

Yay! Less than 1 month now! Doesn't it feel great! I keep saying to myself, next week it will be 3 weeks!!!

Yay:banana:

It does feel great!!!
