My Son Loves Halloween...5/5 3 updates! Main Street, castle, statue photos

:scared1: to the Frozen Lemonade! I hate sticky! I would not have been pleased... haha.

Great pictures. I love the little Woody and Bullseye.

I had a very vivid dream about MK the other night also! We were at MNSSHP and it seemed so real even though I've never been there before. It must be your TR makes it seem like I'm there!

Thanks!

I was not happy! :sad2:

That's funny about your dream! We have another party night and daytime pics when we make it to the next day, which will hopefuly be soon. :rolleyes1

Big Thunder Mountain is my FAVORITE ride. I was so excited to go there.

It was really fun.
(of course)

Then we headed over to Hall of Presidents. We made it this time.

John Adams. The only president who's photo came on the camera.

Next are castle pictures I believe, and then we leave and go back to POP!

Great updates, Thunder Mountain is one of my favorite rides too, Jacob! I remember being so scared the first time I went on it!

I just rode your favorite ride twice last Saturday!
(This Saturday will not be nearly as exciting. :))
It's a good ride - not too wild and not too mild.

Love the TTA pics and BTMRR pics. I love both rides. Wish my Jacob would ride BTMRR. I was holding my arms in the air once and slid across the seat and bumped him. Now everytime I want to ride, he says that is why he won't ride, "I might squash him again!":sad2:

Oh no about the lemonade and your bag. Hope it didn't ruin anything.

So, when is your next trip. Are you planning on going this year for MNSSHP? Not trying to rush this report anything. Wondered if we might be going the same time again.

The first time we rode I had trouble staying on my side and not squishing Jacob. Now I always sit on the left side since you mostly are pulled that way. Of course Jacob is now almost as big as me and pretty soon he will be the one squishing me! Hannah has not been on BTMRR yet. We keep telling her we will take her on next time. She is rather uncertain about this. If she likes it, then I am trying to get her on EE with the bribe of a plush Yeti. She loves to buy stuff!

Nothing else was in the bag.

This tr could probably use some rushing.
But I doubt it would work.

Not sure when we are going back. But not this fall. :sad2:
Maybe Spring OR Summer 2010. We have off April 17-25. And school ends between June 18-24. I'd love to go to Flower & Garden Festival. I'd also love to go to Star Wars Weekends, but since they moved them up this year, we might be too late for that.
I'd also love to go in early December, and see the Christmas decorations. If they offer free dining and I can get a good deal on airfare I might be able to do it. The kids have a random Wednesday off in Dec (for conferences for other grade levels). So if we left after school Tuesday and came back Sun night, it would be similar to what we did in Sept. Except that I don't know we will get as much done with Hannah in tow.

I think the big deciding factor will be that my job is relocating and I need to find a new one. This year I made it to 4 weeks vacation. So starting a new job means starting over accumulating vacation time.

But we are going to Ft. Lauderdale in 16 days!!!! :cool1:
We are visiting my Dad and StepMom who live in a condo on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale!!!! My Stepmom's son will be visiting the same week with his two boys who are a year younger than my kids. And her daughter lives nearby with a two year old son, so there will be a lot of kids at the condo!!!

Bulleseye was cute.
I brought Toy Story Mickey home with me! He is the newest addition to our very large plush family. :)

TS Mickey is so cute! You have a great plush family based on some of the photos I've seen. Jacob has a good start to a collection up in his room. Chef Mickey is a bit lonely on my dresser by himself.

There is a BTMRR update with pics on the previous page that Jacob did.
I forgot to put it in the title so I wanted to mention that it was there.

So, it is still Saturday evening at the MK, we rode BTMRR w/ FP and we saw Hall of Presidents and STILL had some time to wait for our Space Mountain FP time of 7:40pm. :rolleyes1

I had not gotten enough sleep the previous three nights, and was getting really tired. SM was the last thing we had planned for the day, and we wanted to get on as soon as possible. We had an 8:05am ADR the next morning and Jacob wanted to go in the pool this night. We headed across the park, and as we passed the castle we decided to take photos and go in and see the mosaics!

I had seen an interesting angle in someone else's photo and was trying to copy it. Not exactly what I wanted but...
mk243.jpg

We went inside to see the Moasics. They are beautiful. We'd seen them before, but had missed them on our last trip.

A mix of both our pictures:

It was really hard to take pictures because of all the people walking through the castle. :headache:
mk254.jpg

There were also a lot of others taking photos and posing in front of the mosaics.
mk255.jpg

Close to the limit, so con't.....

Back outside....more photos.....all Jacob's....

We headed into Tomorrowland....

mk262.jpg

We still had a few minutes so we called home to say Hi to Hannah and Joe before Hannah's bedtime. She had a really exciting day. My Dad and StepMom were in town, and had visited her, They'd gone to her iceskating class, and my stepmom had taken her shopping, they'd bought an outfit for school photo day in a couple of weeks, then gone to Staples, and then to Dollar Tree where they bought every Halloween decoration they saw plus lots of little stuff for Hannah. She had to tell me about everything in great detail....I could hear about half of what she was saying.

Jacob took photos while we waited. He really likes this photo.
mk263.jpg

After our phone conversation we headed over to use our FP's.

Jacob had never been on Space Mountain and he was so excited!!!! :yay:

Last time we were here, the day we were in MK SM was not open. :headache:

So ...

We headed over.....

to the entrance.....

And were told......

That the ride was temporarily closed.

I wondered if it was just us or if SM was closed a lot? :confused3

mk264.jpg

I was really tired and really hungry.
I was starting to have a meltdown.
I wanted to get something to eat, but Jacob did not.

I ended up getting a bucket of popcorn.

We had planned on leaving, but people were lined up for Spectro, and I thought if we were here and it was starting soon, maybe we should see it tonight and make our Monday schedule a little lighter. So we sat on Main street and had popcorn. I felt a little better. I was thinking that Spectro should be starting by now. Then I double checked the times guide and realized it wasn't for another hour. :headache: I had been looking at the wrong day. So we headed out of the park.

The 8th graders at Jacob's school participated in National History Day this year. They each had to choose someone to do a project on, then choose something they did as a focus. Jacob chose Walt Disney.

Jacob was so genuinely interested in Walt & his life that he put a lot of effort
into this project. He chose the creation of Disneyland as his theme.

jacobnhd03.jpg

Walt was the most popular choice - 5 students at the school chose him for their projects!!!!

Here is the completed project on display!
"How to Create a Theme Park Walt Disney's Way"
With paper pop out Disneyland Castle, Lots of Mickey heads, and Disney font!
jacobnhd02.jpg

Notice he put my Mickey Head puncher to good use!!!!

He wore his MNSSHP shirt to the presentation day!

Great job on the Project Jacob!:thumbsup2 Wow, that is pretty amazing that 5 kids did projects on Walt.

Kathleen, sorry to hear about the job change. I hope it works out for you.

Sounds like you are going to have a fantastic time with all of your family in Ft. Lauderdale.

And you sound just like I did a year ago. Want to see the parks at different times a year. Haven't made it to the Flower and Garden Festival, but I plan on doing so in the next couple of weeks. I can't wait to do all the different seasons again at WDW. Hopefully we have two more years here and can afford our AP's.

Can't believe SM was closed again. :sad2:

Jacob's project looks great! That is impressive!

I enjoyed seeing the pictures of the mosaics. They are neat to see, we haven't spent much time looking at them, so seeing the details is really cool.

I like the pictures of the mosaics. I might have to print some out to use as visuals when i teach about them next year, if you don't mind!

Sorry you didn't make it on SM!

I hope your new job works out!

Great project on Walt! I love the pop out castle.

Hi kathleen and Jacob,

Great updates and photos! That's a great project Jacob put together - very impressive!
I love the mosaics - we didn't really see them this trip, we'll need to check them out next trip for sure!
SM was running fine when we were there - it was always on and working fine!

I was amazed to see all the Walt Projects. There were two display boards, a model of the castle, a documentary, and a web site!

We are really looking forward to Ft. Lauderdale!

There are just so many great times to go. Its so hard to choose. Plus it is tough to work it around the school schedule. Their vacation weeks are the most crowded times!

The director of the office is retiring, and then the office will move out of state. It was originally supposed to happen last Dec, so I guess anything this year is bonus time. Looks like it will end at the end of the summer, not sure if I will leave sooner. I guess timing wise it works out, becase I would like something with more hours. I started looking for something this past week.

Is your Hannah a Cinderella fan? She might like seeing them this year!

Thanks!

You are welcome to use the photos.
What do you teach about them in class?
Jacob would love to learn about Disney at school.
There is a TA that he chats about Disney with sometimes when he is waiting for a ride.

We were returning to the MK two more times, so we could try again.
But it was disappointing. Plus we had been waiting around just for that.

Thanks!
My "next trip" list is getting way to long.
I will need about 3 trips to get everything done.

Then it must be us and not SM.
We planned to try again the next day.

Loving this trip report - great pictures and I love all Jacob's names for things "batter scraper off thing" :rotfl:
I hope my baby son is just as much into disney as your son when he is older - a trip with just the two of you must have been so special for you!
Can't wait to hear more!
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Thanks!!! And Welcome!!! (and Welcome to the DIS too!)
Jacob keeps me laughing!
Your son is so cute on the carousel photo!
It was really special to have this trip. He is growing so fast!
He starts High School in September!!!!

Are you going to MNSSHP this fall? It really was a lot of fun!

We took the bus back to pop!
And I was miserable the whole trip.

Jacob really wanted to go to the pool that night.
I wanted to go to sleep.

But I decided to take him to the pool, I figured I would be better off relaxing and clearing my head, and figuring out what our plans for the next day were. I think it turned out to be the right decision. I love going to the pool at night. It's one of the things I remember loving about growing up in Miami! :goodvibes

We went back to the room to change. And make a few adjustments to the window!

Video. Those are the flashing pumpkin lights we bought at MNSSHP!

The view from our room:

We headed over to the pool.

We were between the computer pool and the hippy dippy pool, but Jacob was NOT interested in those pools. He wanted to swim in the bowling pin, even if it was the furthest away. :rolleyes1

We arrived and looked around, and realized there were no towels at the pool. We stay at timeshares a lot, where you are not allowed to take your room towels to the pool. I wondered aloud if we were supposed to bring them from the room. A dad passing by with a couple of towels for his kids said yes. He had just had to go back for some. :headache:

Jacob volunteered to go back to the room and get the towel himself.
I was tired so I agreed.

Jacob finally finally getting to swim in the giant bowling pin pool.

I sat and relaxed, went over our plans for the next day, then took some photos. I went to the stairs to check out the pool temp. I was standing there talking to Jacob and I said that the water was cold. The lifeguard was nearby. He asked me if I really thought it was cold. I think he thought I was crazy.
