My solo trip made me happy, and then we watched a bug's life....

And now I'm itching to get BACK!

Just hearing the music in the movie, the music that plays in the background of Flik's Fun Fair...the music that plays as you sit on Heimlich's Chew Chew Train...for the four-teenth tiiime. (oh wait, just mixed Guys and Dolls songs with Pixar music)

Wanna go back wanna go back wanna go back.

Hi my name is Molly, and I might have a wee problem with DCA today. I think it's the "what's right with DCA" thread. I think it weakened my resolve, and hearing the music (and seeing in the movie all the little elements of that sweet little land that I didn't really understand before) has me thinking of hopping on a train and letting DH take DS in to work for a week. :rotfl: :lmao:

So anyway, word to those wiser than I am, if you are wishing to go back but can't at least for 2 months and probably not for 3, do NOT watch a movie with the background music of a favorite land in it!:headache:

My son and I are stuck here in snowy Michigan today and he's not feeling great, so we're staying home. And, coincidentally, I should be getting A Bug's Life from Netflix this afternoon in the mail. It sounds like it will be just the thing to get us in the mood for our trip. We arrive in DLR in 12 days!

Bug's Life totally makes me want to go too!

(But I'm super lucky and I am going today! You can live vicariously through me - I'll tell you all about DS's tantrums. ;))

And now we're watching Brother Bear. Which is a very good, kick you in the behind SAD, movie.

But other than making me cry, it's reminding me of the Storyteller's character b'fast.

I love Bug's Life and I so can't wait to visit Bug's Land next month, I think that is the land I am looking most forward to exploring. :goodvibes

A night doesn't go by around here where my son isn't asking to watch Peter Pan, the DL Sing Along video on Main Street (my fave) or the The Secrets behind the DLR that we dvr'd in high def from the travel channel. It's getting kinda sad...I just need to get there and get my fix!

Love your tag "What has the Dis done to me?" (wow you're so close!)

That's how I feel, when I look at our collection of disney and pixar films. Now we're just waiting to buy bug's life and, hmm, something else to finish off our Pixar collection (we even have the Pixar Shorts DVD). So every day is a disney/pixar movie day...:upsidedow

Yes we are but I tell you what this last week is dragging by so slowly for some reason. When I woke my son up this morning for school he asked if it was Disneyland day? He barely had his eyes open and already had Disneyland on the brain, sounds like mommy!

I'm with you on the Pixar movies...I absolutely love them! Bugs Life is just too cute. Did you take your son to see Tough to be a bug? I can't remember if you mentioned that or not. Ayden wants to go see it...I'm not so sure though.

I'm not going until May. A few weeks ago I checked the calendar and saw that It's Tough to be a Bug is going to be down! That's one of my very favorite attractions at Disney CA!!!

I watched Bug's Life on Sunday night! :thumbsup2

It's a bug's life kind of week, I guess!

We didn't see tough to be a bug. Since DS was refusing even POTC all year and has never seen a 3D movie, I figure it would be a bad idea. Then yesterday (mere hours before renting bug's life, LOL) we had an arachnid incident which resulted in him screaming "protect me, protect me!!!!!"* while I tried to dispatch said 8 legged freak....so I'm thinking that tough/bug is going to have to wait for us to be ready for it.

(*I never ever expected him to flip out so bad over a spider he hadn't even seen...but I hate hate hate them and HATE being the one to get rid of them (I get paralyzed with fear of them getting on me), and when he asked me what I was doing I guess I had a touch of fear in my voice. oops.)

You're certainly not alone with that fear. If I see one on the wall before bed...I WILL NOT go to sleep until I know it's gone. If it dissapears I will sleep in the other room. Now my son on the other hand...LOVES bugs. Last summer he carried a bug catcher with him wherever he went. He is obsessed with them.
I have a feeling this trip he's going to be a lot more adventurous. Considering he went on Matterhorn twice last year I thought that was pretty adventurous. He's begging to go on Space Mountain this time. We were watching the video on youtube the other day, the one with the lights on and he says he wants to do it. I think he would have liked it more last year when there was a little bit of light...I'm not so sure about this year. Then again I don't want him to be like me and scared of rides until I was an adult lol

Molly, spray them with hair spray, they can't move and then you can squish away.....altho even squishing gives me the heebies. LOL I hate spiders and do not want to see Tough/Bug.......I've resisted so far but I have a feeling I'll have to give in soon....LOL

Now there's a great idea...my ex husband always had to be the good guy and "rescue" it and take it outside. I'm all about squashing!:rotfl2:

My hubby is Buddhist...you can imagine how happy he is when I insist that he squish things. (I bet he has snuck half of those outside)

I ended up causing it to go down the shower drain. I was about to hop in the shower, picked up my towel from the floor (we're not the neatest of people) and THANK BUDDHA (or whomever) I saw that thing while walking to the bathroom. But the comedy of errors even before DS noticed I was missing was insane. At one point I had the whole bath towel IN the toilet, b/c I just didn't know what else to do...DH was rolling when I was telling him the story when he got home.

So once I get off this posting binge I'm getting things up off the floor, I'm vacuuming this place within an inch of its life, and am instituting a policy of NO CLOTHES IN PILES!

Last year we lived in a townhouse that was supposed to be great, but inside of ONE year we counted 9 different types of spiders, and that list ended with the landlord finding a freakin' black widow in our garage (they aren't supposed to live here, but he knew what he saw) when inspecting after move-out (and after I was somehow kept from cleaning said garage while I scoured the rest of the house). I am OVER arachnids. We moved into this nice new building b/c I *thought* they sprayed for critters, so I reported said beastie to management and now they are considering spraying.

On the other hand, I'm also afraid of butterflies. :rolleyes1

Hairspray...didn't know that worked for them, too.

I used to use that technique on "palmetto bugs" when my mom lived in Miami. You know, the flying cockroaches? Palmetto bugs...whatev'. Anyway, hairspray worked very well on them!

Of course, that does require not being paralyzed with fear, LOL.

I dislike roaches LESS than I dislike arachnids (I even have a hard time TYPING the s-word, can you tell?) so I'm less afraid and can actually move to get rid of them more easily.

I also hate termites.

I need to go to Disneyland. There are no tiny bugs there! Or maybe there are but I know that I'm not looking for them!!!! Too busy looking at the itsy mice outside Matterhorn.

YESSSSSSSS why oh why do they hang out around the Matterhorn? We saw a lot last year.

Can we not talk about spiders? (shiver) It's just me and dd and i have yet to come across one i can't get with a shoe but if I do... I'll be on the phone to my Dad in a flash :lmao:.

Anyway! I've barley been home a week and I can't wait to go back!!! I've never gone twice in one year but I just can't stop myself from trying to plan for a trip in October. I'd really like to go with my folks. They are the ones that got my hooked. They didn't go this trip - I went with friends and our dds. They did go in 06 but I dragged a friend along with her dd, which put the kaput on family time. (That's me not thinking ahead!)

I think we would have a really great time now that DD is big enough for the bigger rides. (I am soooooo excited she like BTMR.) But I'm afraid my parents will frown on another trip "so soon" and see it as being financially irresponsible. They did hint that they want to go though...

I'm happy for you guys who are going sooner though!!! Good for you!!!!!!

btw does someone have the code for hojos? I heard they are having a special of $59 in October but I think I need the promo code and something about getting the entertainment book?

The code to check for the excellent Entertainment Book rate for HoJo is SD50.

If you can get that $59/night rate (check day by day, because sometimes some dates have the rate and other dates don't) you will need the card from the Entertainment Book valid at that time.

With more than one trip inside a year, did you get APs? Hope hope hope (and forgive if you have discussed this...I almost never look at usernames and if I do I barely remember what they've talked about). If not, for this upcoming trip, consider it! All it takes is two few day trips in one year and they pay for themselves (not even taking into account the discounts).

If you can't get the Entertainment Book rate, hojo offers a 15% discount for dis members and a 20% discount for AP holders. If they have the rate for some days, book those days and use the dis or AP discount for the other days, and check back often, b/c they DO add more dates as time goes on! :)

Well to take a cue from another support group intro -
Hi Molly! I'm Daisy and I too have a Disney problem!
(Good thing we have a support group for this addiction.)

I am Super Impressed that you did a solo trip, I have one coming up THIS WEEKEND and can barely stand :cloud9: how excited I am! It is going to be SO different.

Did you love love love it?
