Okay so I read about the $1 popcorn and sodas at AMC, today only 7/25, on a posting here the other day. I signed up and got the coupons.

MOVIE and Movie Snacks

We went to the first showing (10:45) to see Despicable Me. (pretty funny) It only cost $18 for 3 of us to get in ($6 for all movies before noon, everyday). Bought 2 sodas (DD10 was able to get her own:goodvibes) and one large popcorn.

Total spent $21 for 3 (7 a piece, so $14 for me and DD)
SAVED about $22 on the 2 of us (though I would never have let DD get her own soda-we would have shared!)

Books

Then we went Borders for DD10 to buy a few of the Warrior books. I love Borders because if you sign up with them you will almost always have a 33% to 40% off coupon. DD and I each have an account so she was able to get 2 books by using 2 coupons (1 per account). Books normally $6.99 so with 40% came to $4.20 each, plus tax.

SAVED $5.60 on 2 books.

STAPLES.

Got DD10 a new backpack. $26.99 at 25% off.
Saved $6.75 plus I will get 100% back on Easy Rebates, (19.99 back)

Total saved today on movie, movie treats, books, and backpack......(drum roll please ) $35.35! And that isn't counting the Easy Rebate from Staples where I will get $19.99 back to spend in Staples. So my real total is $55.34 and I didn't even count the 1 cent pens and 1 cent (after rebate) copy paper I picked up.;)

I've gotten to the point where I don't want to spend money unless I have a coupon or a discount!

How did you do today on your savings?

You had a great savings day!

I love the Borders coupons too. My daughter must have 15 Warrior books. I never thought to have her sign up for her own Borders card. She bought two books this weekend!

We don't often catch the early movie times to save on price but it sure makes a difference when we do!:thumbsup2

I actually just thought of it earlier this week. She wants to have the entire collection of ALL the warrior books.

We went to the movie too. We saw Beezus and Ramona. Here in OK it is only $4 before noon.

Wow! That's a great price! $6 is pretty good for So Cal. though. Otherwise matinees are $8

How was B&R? DD10 thinks she wants to see that as well.

Great deals OP! Between my son and daughter we have almost all the Warriors books, guides and manga! lol It's such a great series.

took our kids to borders as well, but they did the summer reading club (google it) and each got to pick out one book for FREE! read ten books or 10 chapters and get a book free...then we went over to barnes and noble and did the same thing. b and n has a similar reading club. 4 books= free

My savings this weekend. It starts with last Tuesday when we went to the movies and the A/C went out. They gave us passes to see another movie. So on Saturday we went to the movies -- for the second time this week (only it was FREE). Today I bought erasers at Office Depot for 10 Cents a package (limit 3). I bought spiral notebooks -- 6 in a package for 50 Cents (limit 2 packages). I bought printer paper at Staples for $4.99 and get a rebate for all but 1 cent of it (limit 2 reams). I also bought paper at Staples last weekend for the same deal. So I have now gotten 4 reams of paper for 4cents. Yes, the rebates are already filed online.

Yes we will be doing that as well at Borders and B&N. We've done this the past few years. Our local library has a rewards program as well.

Great job disney1990! I did the 2 reams this week at Staples too!

disneybound31-how nice that they gave you a free pass to return.:goodvibes

Op-great day! Our staples aren't open on Sunday. Hope to find a good backpack for DD. Hope the one she picks is also 25% off!

That's like the one that DD10 and I both used yesterday to get her 2 books.:goodvibes

I'm actually going to go back to Staples later today to see if DD10 would rather get a more expensive backpack. What, more expensive!:scared1: The backpack she got was orig. $26.99 and 25% off. Came to $19.99. After we got home yesterday I realized she could get one of the Jan Sport ones that are $39.99. At 50% it will only be $19.99 as well. The cheaper backpacks are only 25% off while the more expensive, like Jan Sport, are 50%. For the same price we can get a better backpack. ;)

are the discounted backpacks marked that way and were they in a different section?

Dd picked out a jansport backpack today. The one she got was originally $53 but was 39 after discount. Our staples had the jansport backpacks at 25% off. I'll submit the rebates right now.
