SO we just got back this weekend from our quick week staying off-site but visiting the parks daily. We ended up eating @ three places total, two were reservations and one was a walk-in.

The first place we ate at was the BoG Restaurant with a few friends and our god-son. My DW and I started with the assorted meats platter. I think i literally almost ate the board it came on. Good choice of meats and cheeses, believe it or not I tried pate for the first time that comes on the board and it was out of this world. My only complaint about this dish, being from an italian family we dont normal have our italian cold cuts sliced thick - theyre normally thin, especially the Prosciutto. They were a little too thick for my liking, but it didnt stop me from eating it! ;)

Next was the bread/salted butter. Awesome combo - couldn't really mess this up I suppose.

Main course, DW had the shrimp/scallop in the puff pastry and myself I had the braised pork. My server subbed out the cauliflower for me and got me the mac n cheese. Excellent choice, the mac and cheese au gratin was perfectly crispy on the outside, and the cheese was still nice and gooey on the inside. But that braised pork was out of this world! If/when we go back, I will certainly get this again. :thumbsup2

Finally, dessert came around and DW and I decided to split. We got the Grey Stuff and the Strawberry Cream Cheese Cake. Both were incredible, but we ended up each liking our respective choices on their own. Lastly, the ambiance was very nice. I ended up spending a little time in each room.

Next, we were able to walk-in @ Mama Melrose's Italian Restaurant @ Hollywood Studios. We said hey lets try it and the woman behind the counter said no reservations, but we're taking walk-ins for lunch (this was around maybe 1:45pm). PERFECT! We were greated by our server, I cannot spell his name unfortunately, but he was from Massachusetts (we are from Rhode Island) so it was good to see a "local." DW and I decided to start off with the Calamari with the three dipping suaces, each sauce was great but the real star was obviously the calamari. We then decided to split one of their pizzas - Carne d'Italia Flatbread. When it came out, it looked just as good as it tasted. We washed down everything with, again, sharing desserts. a Nice cannoli trio and tiramisu. Cant get any better than that.

Lastly, Teppan Edo @ Epcot on Friday for our last dinner just the two of us. The ambiance was great here. We were seated with another couple and a family of 5. The female cook we had put on a standard hibachi show and was very entertaining. I myself ordered the steak and chicken while DW elected for the steak and shrimp. The steak, not the filet mignon, was cooked to perfection. It was so tender and could be cut with a fork truly. The portions of the meat were to be expected, but the noodle/veggie they give you was a heaping mound. So, I had to eat it all obviously.:rolleyes1

All in all, I think on my next trip back I would most certainly do BoG again. Teppan Edo, maybe/maybe not it would all depend. And Mama Melrose I would do again just to try some of the pasta dishes - perhaps for dinner this time instead of lunch.

One last place I forgot about, Earl Of Sandwich!

We stopped by here to grab a bite to eat. DW went with their caprese sandwich, while I wanted their Montagu and a bowl of Broc/Cheddar soup. Clearly the person waiting on us heard me say Italian, which i was fine with. DW and I ended up splitting both. The italian was nice and warm, very filling on its own. But the flavors from the caprese were out of this world. And their broc/cheddar soup was spot on. Very creamy, and had huge chunks of broccoli.

This place is still my go-to spot for sandwiches when @ DTD

Yum! The dinner review for BoG makes me super excited for our February trip!

We thought about Mama Melrose for the night before the Princess Half in Feb, but I think we're going to try the new Italian place in the boardwalk area. Good to know that Mama Melrose would be a strong backup!

I've been watching alot of Food Network Star reality show, so I tried to use all my descriptive words LOL. I too wanted to try that new Trattoria but I heard it wasnt opening until December - maybe next trip. But I felt the apps and pizza we had was very enjoyable. We actually had the meat pizza and asked them to throw some fresh mozzarella on it. My mouth is watering as we speak. Plus - the aroma of the brick oven that permeates outside of the building and inside of the building is incredible

If youre running the marathon - good luck! enjoy your trip! :hippie:

thanks for taking the time to share your reviews!! :thumbsup2

absolutely! i wish i was able to write more about more things, but the only other items we ate were Mickey Pretzels, Caramel Apple Oatmeal Cookie from Karamell-Küche in Epcot (heavenly btw! I ended up getting it on Friday night, flew home Saturday night and ate it last evening. threw it in the microwave for maybe 20 seconds. SO good,) and lastly, Waffle House LOL

Nice reviews! I'm interested in your review of Mama Melrose. I'm also from Rhody and I wasn't sure I would like Italian at Disney since there is so much good Italian food up here. Since you're from an Italian family I'm sure you're not that easy to please. ;)

Yours is one of a few positive reviews of Mama Melrose I've read recently. I'm seriously considering doing the Fantasmic! dining package at Mama Melrose's when we visit in April. Thanks!

Well, I will first say this. NOTHING is close to the italian places in RI LOL. I also hold italian food to a high regard because of my father's cooking.

That being said, I did enjoy the food, the decor, the overall ambiance. I mean really, I felt for the price too the food was excellent. We did look at a few other restaurants in HS that day and every time we've walked by Mama Melrose, the smell of the brick oven just got me every time.

I have read from others, however, there is a new Trattoria opening in December on the Boardwalk if youre looking for something. But why not give Mama Melrose a try? I do intend on going back there again, only to try an actual entree.

I did it! I made a reservation for Mama's Fantasmic! package. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll try to imagine myself on Federal Hill while I dine there. :rotfl:

Mama Melrose tends to be a must do lunch spot for us when visiting DHS. Great location for our touring plan and we also love the food too.

We have it on our list of reviews to complete soon. Hope to share with everyone the details in a few weeks.
