<font face="times" size="+0">DBF and I just got back from a last-minute quickie weekend trip to WDW. We had a great time, and also had the opportunity to try out the EMH evening hours on Sunday night at Epcot.

We arrived at 9:10pm at the Int'l Gateway entrance, just in time to catch the last few fireworks they set off for Illuminations. It was great to be entering the park and walking in the opposite direction from the masses exiting the park.

We knew from the DISboards that the only pavilions open would be Norway and Mexico, so figured we should walk counter-clockwise around World Showcase while that area was still open. So we had a nice leisurely stroll from France to Mexico. It did seem a little more crowded than I expected, but still empty enough to be pleasant. When we reached Norway, there were ropes going up to prevent people from walking up past Norway.

We decided randomly to ride El Rio del Tiempo (heh, that ride is so bad), and then we strolled through the fragrant rose garden walk to get to the Imagination Pavilion where we walked onto that ride, and then headed over to The Land and waited about 10 minutes in line to get on that ride. By the time we were done with that, we were way too tired to continue, so scrapped our original Spaceship Earth, Mission Space, and Test Track itinerary and just headed back to the Int'l Gateway.

When we walked past the Canada pavilion, we noticed that the McD's stand was still open, and we saw some CMs hanging out and talking by the Beavertail stand. I'd been craving for a Beavertail all day, and thought... aw man it looks like they just closed. But after walking about 15 steps past the stand, DBF stopped and said that maybe we should go back and ask them if they're open. I'm so glad that he suggested that, 'cause it turned out they were open after all, and we got to have our Beavertail! What a great way to end the night.

I did wish we'd been approached by a CM doing surveys so we could comment on the EMH evening. It was nice, and I hope they do implement it in the future. Epcot has always been kind of lacking the ride dept, so I can understand why some people find that not enough is open. I wish we could've tried out the evenings at AK, MK, and MGM... as I'm sure they'd have been nice. The one thing that I wish they would do for the Epcot EMH is to allow people to stroll all the way around World Showcase instead of roping it off.

I'm very happy they kept some stands open on both sides of World Showcase, and that late-night Beavertail was almost enough to make the whole thing worth it for me personally. ;)

Thanks for the info. Yours was the first "Non-MK" night EMH I saw that was reviewed:earsboy:
