Just joking about the bail out part. So, we have always wanted to stay at the Contemporary. My DS10 loves the "monorail resort" (I know - we call all 3 of them monorail resorts - but he only calls the CR this.) So I thought this was going to be the year. I booked with DU back in the fall and have been paying it off little by little. The third week of January came and I only owed $500 on the trip. I was pumped!
Then, the ice storm hit. We were without power for a week. DS missed a week of school. They elongated his school year to June 1. Our vacation was scheduled to begin May 24. yuck. His school district requires a Dr.'s excuse if you hit 6 days of absences. He has 3 already. I couldn't just pull him out of school for a week without them requiring a Dr.'s excuse and pursuing me for being truent. SO - I emailed Marla, the fabulous, at DU and explained the situation. She researched and we couldn't get the Contemporary for our new dates.
But we got the Beach Club for about $1000 more.
Ok, so trotting along about another week and we run into another snag. My DH is a youth minister. The recession is hitting churches hard. They are getting ready in March to cut his annual pay by 10%. Ok - I think - we will make due. . . then we went to get our taxes done. . . Our CPA made a $1000 mistake which we will have to pay this year. He is a friend of the family, and it was an honest mistake. So I felt bad for him because he felt so bad.
What really made me feel bad, though was the fact that we are down $1000 that I had planned to pay off my vacation with!!!
SO - the fabulous Marla received another email from me. And now we are going to be staying at the Bob Varley resort - Pop Century.
We have always wanted to try Pop - we like to try something new each time - All Stars, to Poly, to AKL, etc. So this is fine.
My beloved "monorail resort" will have to wait until the recession is over.
We are so blessed to be able to take our son to WDW every year. What have I to complain about? Nothing.
Have a great day!
Angie
