After reading many wonderful trip reports, I decided to be brave and do one myself. This is my very first pre trip report. First let me introduce the cast of characters.
Me (38) SAHM loves Disney and loves planning a trip to Disney even more.
Dh (45) Likes Disney a lot but not as much as me!
DS (8) Likes Disney but is not a nut- yet! Likes thrill rides.
DD (3.5) Princess in training- only in my dreams! She loves baseball, soccer and running fast! With a little prompting from me, she gets excited about the Princesses.
DS (18mos) My little chunky monkey wont be joining us this trip. Hes done Disney in utero and at 8 months. Given his dislike of a car seat and my busy itinerary, we decided he would be better staying with my parents.
We can thank the Marriott Vacation Club for hooking me onto WDW. This will be our fourth year of going to the World. We bought a Marriott timeshare in New Jersey. We always vacation at the Jersey shore and liked the idea of exchanging our weeks. Our very first exchange was into the Grande Vista in Orlando. We loved the resort and had a great time at the parks, the Luau, MNSSHP. We decided to do Disney every year, if we could. Weve been lucky and have gotten bonus weeks when we traded our week in. Last year we went during a perfect time- the week after Thanksgiving. The weather was perfect. We did MVMCP and had a great time. This past May we start talking about plans for Disney this year. We were deciding when to go when I read about free dining. I then realized if we booked starting 9/30, we could celebrate DDs 4th birthday in Disney and get free dining. Great! Now I would like this trip to be as frugal as possible so I research the moderates. We stayed one night at Pop last year and DH did not care to spend a week there. I booked CSR, 7 nights, 7 day PH and free dining! The price was nice but I always wanted to stay at the Poly. I love the theming, the location, everything. I mention this to DH and he says, Oh I thought that was where you booked. No sooner did he say that, I was online making a ressie for the Poly and canceling the CSR ressie.
Since we drive from NYC I always make a driving plan. Last month we received a Marriott reward- one free night hotel stay. We got the new school calendar and see 9/29 is a day off for my kids. Great, this means we can leave midnight Thursday and get to the Marriott Friday evening. We can eat in DTD, sleep and check in at the Poly early Saturday morning. And the night is free!
I then started making ADRs and the all important birthday ADR. I decided to do Ohana breakfast and 1900 Park Fare Dinner for her birthday. I plan on ordering a birthday cake as well. I just need to decide which cake I want to order. Next we need clothes for the trip. I decided my DD will be wearing all Disney clothing. I bought some custom things from ebay, a special birthday dress, a Tink costume and a Belle costume for PSB.I also bought the rest of us some Disney clothes too. In the meantime I bought MNSSHP tickets for 10/5 so we are all set! All I need now is for school to start so the calendar will really fly! Thanks for reading!
Stayed tuned the beginning of October for the full report.
