DD7 and DS 12 were rough-housing last night and he pulled her on the carpet. Now she has this massive rug burn on her back and one leg. :(

It looks terrible and it really hurts her. I put antibiotic cream and called her doc. Doc said that was about all I could do for her.

DS feels terrible and is blaming himself, I told him accidents happen but he really needs to be more careful. So I had a crying girl and a freaked out DS :( he loves his sister and cant stand that he hurt her, even accidently.

Has anyone dealt with this? I am keeping her home this morning until the motrin kicks in and see if she feels up to going to school later.

Ouch, I hope she feels better soon. I think Motrin and Neosporin probably the best thing. If she's real uncomfortable, maybe let her take the day off.

thanks.

I felt so strange keeping her home but at the same time she would be miserable if she even touched something to it.

I want to take her into the school nurse and explain what happened. I am always paranoid that someone would think something like this was intentional. You can tell its a rug burn but still with as on guard as people are these days you never what they will think. :(

My nephews never feel bad when they hurt each other or my daughter. That stinks that it happened....my daughter has ended up with stitches.

Poor thing. I would just keep her home all day. Water should only aggravate that also....

By Monday the worst should be over...

I am glad to read about another boy being so sensitive. NOthing wrong with that, DS11 is the same way..
Take care:grouphug:

When DD was really little, we were playing a game where she would crawl away from me, and I would grab her little legs and pull her back towards me. She was giggling and having a great time. So was I until I noticed the rug burns on her forearms. :scared1:

My younger brother had a bad case of road rash from an accident several years ago. You have done all there really is to do. Something for the pain, and the Neo. Something else we were told to do, is keep it dry and let it get air.

Hope she feels better soon!

The boy and his sister are the same. If they are playing and something happens to her he will be the first to cry. He also has to understand that just because something is an accident he is still responsible.
