My only fear of the next Disney CEO

Whether it’ll be Josh D'Amaro or Dana Walden (or both! as co-CEOs!), the only fear I have with who becomes the next Disney CEO is that Bob Iger will train them to be as capitalistic as him, as if he’s trying to "brainwash" his replacement instead of doing his/her own way of running Disney.

My fear is that they will unleash and Itchy and Scratchy Land style robot apocalypse!

But seriously, being as capitalistic as possible is one of the job requirements (the primary one, actually). You should expect that from whomever gets the job.

It’s just that I worry that Iger will force his replacement to not be creative, something that Michael Eisner was in addition to being as capitalistic as possible.

The next CEO will need to walk a fine line at delivering shareholder value and yet producing/maintaining expensive services and infrastructure. More than any other older, venerable business, Disney relies on nostalgia, history, and emotional pulls.

The job of a CEO is to make money for the shareholders. I think you are dreaming of a person who doesn't exist and can't exist if they want to run a successful company. Capitalism is what makes places like Disney possible. I read a story about a amusement park in North Korea a while back. The pictures were funny and sad at the same time.

Yes, Disney exists because of Capitalism. The spirit of the best capitalists in history (including Walt himself) is you have to spend money to make money (I will add to spend it wisely).

I'm worried they might suffer from lycanthropy. We get so little Animal Kingdom after dark. I can only imagine it would be worse if there was a werewolf in charge!

You mean The same Michael Eisner that built MGM studios, Animal Kingdom Park, Pleasure Island, Water Parks and most of the hotels, besides Disney Cruise Line etc. etc. And keeping Disney very affordable
