I just don't know what to think about any of this.
After finally giving up on my 6 week cough (and having it rear its ugly head after I was grilling on Sunday), I started taking Keflex on Monday morning. On Tuesday morning, I noticed that my cough was much looser than ever and very productive. I also didn't feel all that well. In fact, I was halfway to work and turned around and came home. Took another Keflex. Shortly after I took it, I noticed that, suddenly, I was getting very stuffed up and had a lot of sinus pressure (something that I have not had for the past 6 weeks). I mean this thing came on QUICK. Could this be a coincidence? Did I happen to get a cold at the very same time I started the antibiotic or is it the antibiotic?
Continued on taking the med as prescribed. After my dose last night, I was really blocked up and had a horrible headache. I went to bed. Couldn't sleep. Woke up in the middle of the night with some "traveling" stabbing pain in and around my left eye.
That lasted for about 5 minutes and was VERY painful. At first I thought it was sinus pressure, but then it moved all around my eye--the outer corner, inner corner, behind my eye. I had to get up and look at it because if felt like something burst. But all was well.
So, I'm up this morning. Still congested but not totally blocked. I'm not taking my morning dose of Keflex because I'm convinced it has something to do with this. Also, some mild diarrhea has started.
The worst/best part is that, honestly, my cough seems to have improved, even with the increased congestion.
Anyway, I'm calling my doctor at 8:00 a.m. to see if I can get in. I feel like I need to continue with something for this cough but I swear I'm getting a strange reaction from Keflex.
Somedays I really hate myself.
