My October 2007 Scrapbook-over 160 pages & still not done! **updated 4/28**

WOW - is the first thing I have to say..ALL of your pages are just beautiful...

& the second thing I have to say is....

scraplift, scraplift, scraplift!

thanks for some new inspiration!

Thanks everyone. :)

Great LO's! I think that I have seen these before over on the Cricut Board! :)

Haha, yea, I've posted several of them there. I'm really behind posting LOs there, though. I think I'll be able to keep up to date here easier! Especially if someone yells at me if I go a while without posting one. :P

The Fantasmic ones are great! I *LOVE* Scorcerer Mickey! He is way cute! :)

I've completed 3 more LOs. I'm just starting the Dreams Come True Parade. :)

Usual "I had an insanely hard time getting pics of these pages" warning applies. Even more than usual, these pics look too dark (and even a bit blurry?) :(

Photopass-One of my favorite services Disney has is their Photopass. For a photo freak like me, it's fantastic!! I included 2 pics of the photopass photographers that my mom captured (sometimes by accident!), as well as a before & after pic of when they add a character into one of their magic shots.

Title was made with the Opposites Attract cart. Paper is Basic Grey. Arrows are Heidi Swapp. All other stickers & embelishments are EK Success/Jolee's. It's hard to see, but the Goofy sticker, it's film that's been pulled out of his camera (but it just looks black in the pic of the page), so cute!

Disney Dreams Come True Parade - Intro- This is the first of 10 layouts for the parade. We sort of lucked into the parade just minutes after entering the Magic Kingdom on our first day, we couldn't believe it (we planned to see it later in the week!) I got much better pics on our March trip than the October trip because we were in a better spot and didn't have people in front of us. So many of the pics I'll be using for these parade LOs is actually from my March trip, but since I'm not going to scrap the parade twice, I figured that was ok. ;)

Title is made from the "Waltograph" font, cut & shadowed with SCAL. I realized too late that I'm missing the "s" in the title. Unlike most of the time, I couldn't pull the letters off the page, grr. So the parade is for one dream, now, not many, lol. It is spelled correctly in my journaling & in the pic, so hopefully that's enough! Paper & Mickey sticker are Sandylion. The "a parade of dreams" is a Creative Imagination rubon that I put on black paper, then matted on purple, and inked both with silver.

Enchanted pre-parade-This is the only LO solely from our March trip, but I figured it made sense to just include it with the other parade LOs. Because Enchanted was coming out a few weeks later, they had Giselle from Enchanted as the pre-parade to the Dreams parade. I was so excited (and only found out by accident here on the DISboards, thank goodness!) Of course now I had to see the parade on this trip (and, as I mentioned, we were so happy we saw it again because we had a great angle in front of the castle, and enjoyed it even more this time!) I was SO happy I found out about this, because there was nothing else Enchanted related in the parks. Really annoying & disappointing. Anyway, the pre-parade was so cute, and Giselle looks just like Amy Adams!

Obviously there isn't much out there as Enchanted embelishments. I found an Enchanted coloring book at Michaels, which included stickers. So I used two of those, as well as a tag of something Enchanted related I bought at the Disney Store, all on the 2nd page. There was one image in the coloring book that was a clear image of Giselle wearing her wedding dress, so I scanned it in and was hoping to trace it in inkscape & then cut it in SCAL. After I opened it in inkscape, though, I realized that there would be WAY too many cuts (at least 50 alone as the ruffle of her dress, and that doesn't even include her face and hair!) So I decided to just trace it so it would be a silhouette, and I think that worked out fine. It came out great, of course I forgot to take a pic/scan it before adhering her on the page!

The title was also cut with SCAL, from the "Chocolate Box" font. I orginally wasn't going to shadow it, but that font didn't look right without the shadow (thankfully these letters came off the page!) The title is cut from DCWV glitter paper. Paper is DCWV's Luxury Paper Pack (so pretty!), Flowers are Prima, crown brads are Making Memories, photo corners are American Crafts, and a jeweled crown photo corner (doesn't show up on the pic, but is on the 2nd page) is Heidi Swapp. I'm so disappointed the pic of this LO doesn't show up well, I love this LO & the pics themselves. I might have to retake pics of this LO because it's annoying me! *sigh*

Thank you so much! Yes, I LOVE my Cricut. You can see how often I use it on my pages (I've only scrapped one non-Disney layout since November, lol!) I've recently started to get into digital scrapping (love it a lot more than I expected!), but I could never give up paper scrapping because I LOVE my Cricut too much! I definitely think it's the best investment a scrapper can make, especially since you can find the baby bug so cheap now.

It's a lot of LOs, but I've been working on this album since Nov. I've completed at least 15 pages (not layouts) a month, which isn't actually too bad if you think about it that way. I actually had hoped to be further along than I am now. I'm going back to Disney in Sept, I can't imagine being done with this album before then. :(

I have a random question for you...what is SCAL??? I've seen it in the description on some of your pages, and I've never heard of this.

I like your layouts, but what I'm most impressed by is the excellent pictures you got of some of the difficult things to shoot, like Fantasmic. Many of my Fantasmic pictures never come out, including those princess floats, so I was super impressed by your pics! Any hints? Do you have a tripod or do you do anything special? Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2

Ooh, sorry! SCAL is Sure Cuts a Lot. It's a program that allows you to cut any True Type font on your computer, along with any vector images. I was a little hesitant about getting it at first, but I'm SO glad I decided to take the plunge because it's amazing! Here's their site with more info (there's also a forum where people post tips and such):

Oh, thank you! I had a horrible time getting pics of Fantasmic on my October trip, so many of my pics in the LOs are from my March trip. I have the Canon S5 (my Oct pics were with the Canon S2, though), and I just play around with the settings (if it helps, for the princess floats, my settings were shutter speed 1/20 and apeture f/3.5.) I didn't use a tripod for any of my pics. My only hint is to take lots of pics, which I certainly do, lol. The more you take, the better photographer you become. Plus, even if you get lots of bad ones, you're bound to get some good pics!

Yes, that does help, thanks! ;) That's one of the reasons I'll probably go to a Digital SLR eventually, so I can take more pictures and not worry about them turning out. Right now I hate to waste too much film! (Insert little photographer smiley here...)

I have one more question for you...How do you get your pictures and fonts from SCAL to your computer and then over to the cricut?? Do you just have to download the fonts and then the cricut cuts them, or do you have to use design studio?? How does the no cartridge thing work??? I'm sorry I have so many question, but there are sooooo many really cool things out there for the cricut and I want to find out if I really "Need" them!!! :lmao:

Oh, wow, you still use film! ;) OK, then I understand! Hopefully those settings will help you!

SCAL is a program on the computer where you use the fonts, and then you use a usb cable to connect your cricut to your computer. You don't need design studio to use SCAL, though I think you need the trial version to upgrade your Cricut's firmware, but I'm not 100% sure of that (I also have the design studio and love it, too!) SCAL then will cut what you have on their virtual cutting mat on the screen rather than what you would type on the Cricut keypad, that's why you don't need a cartridge. I still love my carts, and would never get rid of them, especially the Disney carts!

LOL, I hope I helped, I know I'm not great at explaining things. ;) I know I definitely "Need" my Cricut, Design Studio, SCAL, and all my Disney carts! :P There's also a board for SCAL, with lots of tutorials, tips, and designs, here:

WOW! Fantastic LO's! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much! I did 2 more LOs today, so now I have 4 LOs I need to upload and post here!

Great!!! Thanks for all the wonderful info!! Now I just have to wait until Christmas to see if my MIL buys me my cricut!!! :thumbsup2

Finally!! Here are my next 3 LOs from the Dreams Come True Parade (I've finished the parade, so I have 4 more LOs that I've completed, but I haven't finished uploading the pics of the LOs yet.)

It Was All Started By A Mouse-The first section of the parade. I was going to cut the title with the Cricut, but I had a good pic from the side of the float, and I cut it out so it looks like an element. :) I cut Mickey with a blue outfit & white shoes to match how he looks in the parade, and he's from the Mickey & Friends cart. The paper, from Sandylion, is shiny & embossed. It was SO perfect for this LO! Sorcerer Mickey sticker is from the customized maps that we were sent from Disney.

Wish Upon a Star-Second section of the parade. I spent forever trying to decide what paper to use for this LO! I finally ended up with these pages from K & Company's Wild Saffron pack. I think it worked out ok (I hope!) The title is made from the "Started by a Mouse" font, cut & shadowed with SCAL, using DCWV's glitter paper (shadowed with their cardstock.) Geppetto & Pinocchio is a patch. Jiminy Cricket, Dwarfs & gemstones stickers are from EK Success. I love how the gemstones on the side of the Snow White pic match the gemstones in the pic (it looks better in person ;))

A Hundred-Thousand Dreams to See-Third section of the parade. This LO was a bit difficult because there are SO many different characters with it (Aladdin/Genie, Alice/Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, and the Pooh characters.) Title is again made from the "Started by a Mouse" font, cut & shadowed with SCAL (in the picture, the dash is in the wrong place in the title, but I fixed it after!) I had problems cuting the Genie out last time because I cut him too small, so this time I cut him at 4 1/2...much easier!! He's from the Dreams Come True cart. The Mary Poppins silhouette is so cute! She's cut with SCAL (downloaded from the SCAL boards before I even had SCAL!!) Paper is DCWV Glitter stack (it's hard to see in the pics, but most of the stars & circles have glitter on them.) Lamp, Piglet, and Eeyore stickers are from EK Success.
