Hi everyone,

I go to Orlando in May but am already looking at my holiday for next year.

I really want to go to Vegas for a week and if funds are available maybe a two centre with LA.

What I want to know is if any of you have been to Vegas and what time of year should I go?
I want it to be hot but not scorching as I can imagine it is at times?

Hope you can help.

were off to vegas next year for hopefully 2 weeks +, Ive heard its nice March onwards with temps well into the high 90s, We are unfortunate that we have to go in august when the temps will be well into the 100s.

I think vegas is a pretty hot place whenever you choose to go.

Hi Deb

My sister has just got back from Las Vegas and said that the weather was good, not too hot. She loved it over there and got hooked on the slots:rolleyes:

The way she described the hotels...out of this world...each one was like a little town some with 20-30 restuarants and the one she stayed in had a fair ground INSIDE it.

Hi Debs

Well i just got back and you can read my trip report here

We had great weather in March one drizzly day but otherwise sunny and in the late 70's to early 80's. April would be a little better as not so much chance of rain and the nights would be a little warmer - but it is the desert so it get's cold at nights anyway compared to the daytime. I would avoid Vegas definately in July and Augus if you can as Jules said it gets really hot but sometimes you gotta go only when you can. That said I'd avoid WDW in July and August also, I could imagine it to be way too humid for me.

SAM, we went to WDW in july/august and didnt have any problem with the heat or humidity, last year we went to the sahara with temperatures well in the 50s, it really doesnt bother us, so I guess vegas wont be to bad for us, guess it boils down to how well you handle the heat.

Jules - temps in the 100's scare me and when I went in early September one year I found that too humid - what can I tell you I'm a woose - the heat in vegas should be a little drier anyway. Lots of my American friends have done WDW in July and August and swear they wouldn't do it again - also I know they're only short but I hate thunder and lightening storms.

All of that said if there was a cheapy holiday going at that time of the year I'd be game on - I have an AP burning a hole in my pocket

OMG !!! Don't even go there on the 50's - I'm surprised you didn't frazzle you're such good "heat" travellers - I'm envious ;)

We went to Vegas in October and the weather was lovely. My mum usually goes May and October/November and normally has great weather.

I really enjoyed it-but Orlando still wins hands down. I'm a shopper not a gambler.

Vegas in October is wonderful! I have been there at that time twice. For the best rates go Sunday to Thursday. Hotel prices almost double at the weekend. Before you book, check all the hotel websites and sign up for their player clubs. They will email you great deals - this is the only place I will book direct with the hotel. I stayed at the Paris for $89 and Mandalay Bay for $99 (remember this is for the room, not per person) last october. Don't even think of staying somehwere like Circus-circus or Stratosphere - too far from the action.

We went to Las Vegas in October and the weather was perfect - no rain and warm enough to enjoy the sun, but cool enough to enjoy walking the Strip.

I wouldn't discount Circus Circus if you are looking for hotels, we stayed at the Sahara which really was quite a hike from the main action, but we managed it no problem and Circus Circus is much nearer everything. Plus the inside fairground in there is pretty good!

Have fun :)

We went last year in early March and stayed at Tropicana.
The weather was warm during the day (enough to sunbathe but not swim) but freezing first thing in the morning and at night.

Wouldn't go again in March, but would try May or late September. Also hardly any of the hotels have indoor pools and the outdoor ones aren't heated so you can't take advantage of swimming until the summer months (which is a big part of our holiday as we have kids).

Would also stay more central on the Strip next time, say Ceasars Palace, Paris, Venetian,Mirage. The Mirage has a fabulous pool area.

It's debateable whether you need a car. The trolley bus which runs up and down the strip is hard to get onto as it is always packed and there is alot of walking between hotels. If you have a car you can valet park between hotels and don't have to walk, so we might consider this next time.

Hope this helps.
